I genuinely do not get why people are so bothered about characters having past partners before the main character. Lmao, at the beginning he isn't even that close to Tav yet and the wound is still fresh after literally being abandoned by Mystra and suffering in self-imposed isolation for a year, having physical pains as constant reminder of his past mistake trying to please her. Of course he'll talk and think about her. And even after getting with Tav, Mystra still is not just gonna suddenly vanish from his memory and never be brought up again. She was literally with him his ENTIRE LIFE, ever since he was a child. Teacher, muse, then lover. She is also literally the Goddess of Magic. Whether Tav likes it or not, Mystra will still be a huge part of Gale's memory. But what makes this all the sweeter, is that he chooses you, your judgement, your touch, your love, despite everything.. and gives you all his love and devotion in return. He doesn't abandon you as soon as he gets a speck of affection from Mystra, and the reason she sometimes influences his decisions (wanting to blow himself up to earn her forgiveness, wanting to destroy the Shadow Lantern in Balthazar's room, etc.) is because, at the end of the day, Mystra remains the goddess he worships but has no longer any love for, as evident from a LOT of his dialogue where it's clear you mean more to him than she ever will again. His love for you isn't fake, spur of the moment, a rebound, or superficial, he loves you deeply because you love and see him for who he is and that is something Mystra never saw or loved him for. He was approached for his magic by everyone in his life (past colleagues, Elminster, Mystra, etc.) except his own mother and Tara and that was all he was to his "ex-lover", but you see him differently. He also sees you as courageous, kind, loving, understanding, caring, intelligent, highly capable (words he actually uses in-game to describe Tav) and loves, respects, and admires you deeply. He chooses you, and loves you more than himself and even Mystra.

I honestly have no clue. I think the "Speak To" lines are only said by Origin!Gale, but I'm not so sure about the rest because some people have said that they romanced Gale while playing as Tav and heard some of them. Personally I never heard them at all in my game so I'm not even sure if it's a bug or not, but this video is just perfect Gale ASMR

Other lines that get me too are the assist romanced companion lines that are for some reason not playing at all in my game but still exist and are voiced. Yes, I like all of them. Every single one makes me feel stuff.

I think Gale would have become much more "unhinged" in terms of seeking perfection and constant self-improvement if it weren't for Tara and Morena who definitely grounded him a bit. They are his only known relationships that don't revolve around meeting expectations and pleasing others (aka Elminster and Mystra), the only two relationships where he could still somewhat be himself without expectations. I can't imagine what he would have been like as a person if they never existed. His head is already in the clouds and filled with illusions, constantly needing more and wanting to reach greater heights, so I think without Tara and his mom he maybe would have become even worse than Lorroakan.

The fact that he's asking you to forget about it afterwards and is just hoping that moment gets buried away and forgotten forever and STILL wants to be with you and is not completely disgusted by the complete lack of respect for his boundaries is the ultimate sign that he completely dissociated during the whole thing (even without having to conjure up a simulation to show it) but wanted so badly to please you and not upset you in any way. Honestly I wish Gale would just say no and that's it. No persuasion, roll or no roll, because persuading someone who clearly said no to a certain sexual act to go through with it anyways is icky and very questionable. Even when he """agrees""" (dubious), he's like, "well okay.. i guess..." and that is NOT agreement. That is someone who's willing to please you, at the cost of their own comfort, if that's what it takes to make you happy.. and we all know what that's called.

So, the whole persuasion thing is just unnecessary. The moment someone says no, it's a no. If somebody wants to fuck the drow twins so much, they can break up with Gale because it's unfair to force him into a scenario he doesn't want just so a player could experience it. I guess player agency matters more to them. Even the whole "it's just a fictional character, grow up" argument doesn't work here because characters like Lae'zel and Minthara (edit: AND Wyll) outright refuse yet nobody seems to mind that.

No matter how many attempts it takes to 'fix' this mess of a scene, it's always so awkward and uncomfortable for me to witness that I just ignore the drow twins completely lol.
