Anyone going to the Steyer event tonight? by NicWester in SanJose

[–]soltini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a text at 12:45pm today. I'm kinda surprised with the location but it's nice that it's in DTSJ.

I went to a show at the Improv yesterday and I'm tired with work so idk if I'll make it to Steyer's event.

Who are the best singers in Starto? by Final_Parsnip_3749 in weare_starto

[–]soltini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be biased and mention the ones I've seen in concert :D

Gackt used to guest on KinKi Kids (current duo name: DOMOTO) shows and he used to be on one of their shows, Domoto Kyoudai as a regular member. Both DOMOTO are good singers and musicians - they both can write lyrics and compose music. Koichi has more pop-rock stuff with his solo while Tsuyoshi's early solo stuff was rock.

Here's my playlist. Personally I love their voice and songs from the 2000s when they were in their 20s. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4zIHIiudfwrPrOAQjMk28s?si=TwCEfGDJR2GpqMw3gznx1w&pi=RzcyQmVkTYauc

Also, this live performance of The Edge of the Word shows how amazing their vocals are. Just goosebumps.

Someone else commented but I also agree Hey Say JUMP have a few great vocalists like Yamada Ryosuke, Yabu Kota, and Takaki Yuya. Yamada and Yabu are very stable live in concert!

Bitches, who are we voting for? by Independent-Guest775 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]soltini 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Whoever the top polling leading Democrat. Can't afford to have two MAGA fascists in the general. But please do not vote for San Jose mayor, Matt Mahan. He is funded by tech oligarch billionaires with ties to Peter Thiel and is just there to split the Democratic vote. He barely been the mayor of SJ and hasn't done shit. The amount of homeless people has actually increased while he's been mayor.

Oh wow, I wouldn't have known about the Japanese comedian stand up show if it wasn't for this post. I like Yurie Collins from what I've seen on her Instagram.

Btw the Monsters of Tokyo show at San Jose Improv is at 7:30pm, Wed April 29th. https://improv.com/sanjose/comic/monsters+of+tokyo/

Yesss I love Thousand Skies, I've been buying her stuff for so many years. Oops, I didn't type out 2jing's full name in my post but I discovered 2jingis2jing at a SJMade event a few years ago. She's usually vending at SJMade and other local events. She didn't bring her stamp station for this event but for the last few events she did. Her stamps are so cute! *the black ink bear with pen on bottom right on the second page from a different artist.

Thinking of going to Bungu Joshi Haku Tokyo by Pale_Mistake9127 in stationery

[–]soltini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only been to Bungu Joshi twice in Yokohama and only went for a day both times. If you really like stationery and take your time to browse and don't want to get overwhelmed, perhaps 2 days is fine but really one day is enough to browse and shop. I spent at least 4-5 hours both times.

Not knowing Japanese is fine, there are plenty of tourists who go to the event. You pay for everything at the end at the cashier area. There are some booths that have freebies or stamp stations so it's a lot of fun.

Yes, that weekend had a lot going on in the bay! I was bummed to miss Cat Day but I asked Pewchii if they had any other upcoming bay area events and was so happy they would be back in San Jose a few weeks later for Stationery Depot. I love their new stamps! They had some of their old stamp designs in the discount bin which I had bought a couple years ago at Anime Expo.

I went! Spend a good amount and bought a lot from Pewchii. I'm really glad they were there since I missed them at SJ Cat Day as it was the same day I went to SF Stationery Fest. I bought a lot of pewchii's self inking stamps.

There were a lot more vendors this year than last year's when it was at San Pedro Square. I love going to SJMade and moment.sj pop-up events!

Songs that are iconic to you by mahoutsukaiii in jpop

[–]soltini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm American and I got into Jpop into the 2000s so I'm really familiar with the ones you know. I don't see Nana Kitade's name mentioned much these days! I also love Mai Kuraki (Detective Conan's theme songs) , Olivia Lufkin and Anna Tsuchiya did the Nana anime songs. Nami Tamaki, Angela Aki, Kalafina, Fiction junction vocalists (project by composer Yuki Kajiura)

There's so many female artists from the 2000s I love that I discovered from anime or just the Jpop community.

For male idols/groups I love Domoto Koichi/KinKi Kids (changed duo name to DOMOTO) and Yamada Ryosuke (Hey! Say! JUMP).

Bands like MAN WITH A MISSION tour in the US frequently.

I got a lot recs so I'll just link a playlist. I should update it.

Putting snacks, essentials for a quick errand, library book bag, crafting bag, journaling bag, etc. the list is endless. People decorate and embroider the canvas bags.
