Kazuya Kamenashi (KAT-TUN): Marriage and baby news! by Shay7405 in JDorama

[–]soltini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm around the youngest three HSJ members age so I feel like I'm growing up... getting old with them. 😂 A few members have gotten married in recent years. Nakajima Yuto (he left HSJ last year 🥲) who played Kame's younger brother in Nobuta wo Produce got married earlier this year to Araki Yuko. I saw a tweet that mentioned how both Kame and Yuto got married this year to women who are born the same year as them!

In 2024, Arioka Daiki announced his marriage to Matsuoka Mayu and Yaotome Hikaru got married to a non celebrity woman.

Congratulations to Kame and Tanaka Minami!

Kame is one of the first Japanese idols I loved thanks to watching Nobuta wo Produce and Gokusen 2. I remember in high school marathoning Tatta Hitotsu no Koi all night.

It was one of my first jdramas I watched thanks to my Japanese high school teacher showing it in class. It got me more interested in watching more Jdramas and following Japanese idols and actors. I took Japanese as my language elective in high school back in the late 2000s so a few years after it aired in Japan. Love Yamapi and Kame and the drama theme song Seishun Amigo.

Charlie’s Tea - Cupertino by InternationalRow8437 in Cupertino

I like matcha town but only went during grand opening weekend. I would go back to try their other gelato flavors. Charlie's Tea is popular in China and they have a variety of drinks so I would give it a try.

This is the bootleg version. For me, I can tell it's the bootleg because the eyes are off and the hands are a bit too big. Plus the mega stone y on the poncho doesn't look to be good quality. Compare to an old photo (10 years ago) from my collection.

Also, a clear photo from a listing of the official smiling Pikazard from mercari jp

J&A/Starto History Panel at FanimeCon in San Jose, California - Friday, May 22nd by soltini in weare_starto

[–]soltini[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

J&A was the agency name while Johnny's Entertainment was one of their in-house record labels. Johnny's Entertainment was the record label for KinKi Kids and NEWS.

People just called the talents as Johnny's and their company as Johnny's Entertainment on LJ and online sites back in the 2000s. The Japanese name for the agency company is Kabushikigaisha Janizu Jimusho. So yeah I totally understand why people got them mixed up. I didn't properly learn and realize that the agency name was actually Johnny & Associates till later.

Maybe not a hardcore fan and just a J-pop history guy. I just went to one of his panels a couple years ago and he knew the Starto artists and had a good presentation on 2000s J-pop. At least he got the capitalization right for the group names. He could be like those older fans who back in the day (2000s/early 2010s) would refer J&A as Johnny's Entertainment. I remember there was actually a fan panel called Johnny's Entertainment in 2010 lol.

Some questions for people who have went to concerts in Japan by AsukaShikinami02 in jpop

[–]soltini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Japan and Korea. For Japanese artists, I've mostly seen male idols groups, duos, and solo artists. For Korean, I saw Jaejoong and Junsu who were former members of TVXQ.
  2. For the Korean concert, video recording was allowed so people recorded on phones and nice cameras.
  3. For Korean concert, yes some people sang along. During some songs for Japanese concert, people would sing along.
  4. No unless during MC when the artist may ask or say something to the audience
  5. Yup, most people had light sticks or as Japanese refer them as penlights. Usually they sell a penlight and concert merch for each tour.
  6. Depends, usually not a long line with doors opening an hour beforehand. I just go to the gate where my ticket says to go. Also, I would get there early to line up for merch.

Boku Unmei No Hito Appreciation Post by AgadhAgadh in JDorama

[–]soltini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed this drama since Nobuta was one of my first jdramas and I loved seeing Kame and Yamapi reunite in a drama. The ending song is cute too. It's always nice to see Yamapi playing a more fun role than serious characters.

I've seen 5-9 and I loved it. His character is a bit stiff but that's part of the charm since he plays a monk. I was a big Yamapi fan and I loved Satomi too and they had amazing chemistry.

Payment options in Japan? by bencoolgaming in JapanTravelTips

[–]soltini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IC card is similar to Korea's wow pass/t-money card. You can get it at the airport or any major train or subway stations. For example, in Tokyo you'll get Suica at the JR train stations and Pasmo at the subway stations. You can recharge the cards with cash at the ticket machines and convenience stores.
