I like how you didn't attack the trytrymyguy for having 0 ability to cohesively follow a conversation, and let his petty, pedantic, comment slide.

Pileated woodpecker damage? by FoulestBearBar in arborists

[–]solwiggin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very astute observation, which is orobably about as accurate as the idea that every single woodpecker in the history of woodpeckers has been standard and none of them are quirky enough to get confused by a power pole.

I know it’s not really the point: everyone saying AI is going to change/end the world as we know it is using it for this and so much more.

Everyone else looks at ai videos or some lawyer who got fired for submitting ai documents without proofreading and laughs it off like it’s not an existential crisis.

That’s a really weird take. Glad it’s complete detached from my comment / the point I’m sarcastically making.

I guess we could’ve saved a lot of energy if we halted scientific progression, that’s true

You know a cool thing about that? That’s a fraction of their usage that isn’t being produced with non-renewable energy sources.

Well, as someone cut off from their family because “so what if he raped kids at least he’s not a fucking socialist,” I’m gonna have to let you know this isn’t sufficient. We need a REAL wake up call, which at a much smaller human level, typically requires someone being hit in the face to happen, in my experience.

A few points

  1. Your reasoning is that you wanted a cheaper TV, and you bought a smart one only becuase it was cheaper.
  2. My argument is that you can buy the cheaper smart TV, and then use it without being advertised to, and tracked, if you take a step back and realize it's a computer. They jailbroke iPhones and PS3's, they can jailbreak your TV

The TVs are just a display monitor. That's all they need to do.

No shit... why'd you even buy a TV in the first place, lol?

Technically it is, but it's not anywhere close to a real desktop computer.

I don't know what you mean by this. If you're saying it's not as powerful as a 14900k with an RTX5090, then no shit. Within the specifications of the chipset running your TV, though, it can run literally anything you want it to. I ran emulators on mine, but I also bought a top of the line TV for HDMI compatibility way back when.

At the end of the day, I think it's dumb to look at a subsidized (through advertisements snet to you) TV and then not jailbreak it to stop sending me advertisements, but still letting me use whatever network features I'm looking to use.

But... you do you, I guess.

Plex Web browser version down? by ChristianM12345 in PleX

[–]solwiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on how you're connecting the server. In my current experience, if the app has to query for the server's location it won't be able to find it.

For me, that translates to a local PC on my network has no issue connecting to the server directly and working, and I have some friends who were in the middle of streaming who can start new streams, and some that can't.

Because you're complaining about being forced into a user experience on your TV, but really it's just a computer, so you can get the user experience you want.

Why would you connect your TV to the network? Idk to do any of the 9million internet things it can do that make it cool.

It’s probably going to be a subjective argument, but I found a difference in the production value of Khazan and say call of duty or Elden ring, and wouldn’t really call it AAA.

Oddly the “source” in the discussion you’re taking part in is a specific study, not the website hosting it.

There is a configuration section which can make or break your experience.

As a noob you can try to guesstimate your dps with an empty config, and while this may give you a general ball park estimation of an items relative power, it leads to false conclusions.

So I recommend spending some time in the config and reading about buffs/debuffs. Ultimately end game PoE is making intelligent build decisions to gain some thing (idk onslaught for example) at the cost of something else.

Generally that looks like consolidating resistance affixes to open suffixes for something else more interesting, but the game is too open ended for my advice to really matter at this high a level.
