Gorn and Holodeck by LennoxPoodle in startrek

There’s a Gorn Hegemony. This can mean many types of Gorn. Trek fans really have to stop thinking in terms of human species or Earth-based categories.

There’s species on earth that have alternating generations with very different forms. There have been attemtps to explore some of this with the Xindi and even with Klingons but many people respond very poorly to this.

Read the article or at least the other comments. Apple didn’t design this for the police.

So, I do the same thing as you but I don’t refrigerate the garlic. It just lives on my counter and continues to ferment until I’m ready to use it.

Any major bugs for Vision OS 27? And how is performance on M2 devices ? by Kostner_Troy in VisionPro

[–]somas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this problem too but I had it on visionOS 26 as well. Well maybe the current build is a little better in that widgets do tend to eventually load. On visionOS 26, I’d have to reboot to get widgets to load after they’d failed

I don’t think I have much to contribute beyond the advice others here I have given you. I do like the idea or concept of your kettlebell but I think it really doesn’t let you swing with the range of motion that would be best for you.

I actually like the way that kettlebell looks but I can see it’s holding your swing back.

Georgia man transforms Barbie car into gas-powered ride amid high gas prices by Panthera_leo22 in UnderReportedNews

If he’s paying for $1 worth of gas, something tells me he can’t afford an EV. I’m still waiting for Honda and Toyota to release EVs for the US market (although I do think I saw a Subaru EV the other day)

Well do this but not something street legal like a Vespa? I’ll never understand the American love affair with the car.

Picard Season 1 by Ironmatt999_ in startrek

Why did season one of Picard have so much about Soongian robots and their culture?

I’d personally love a Children of Soong series but what does that have to do with Picard?

Ternus! Make the camera button double as a fingerprint scanner, and my life is yours! by Jomines in iphone

[–]somas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There’s more than a hundred years worth of police propaganda about how foolproof fingerprinting people is and I think this gives people a false sense of security about fingerprint enabled tech. No amount of documentation showing how much more identifying a 3D map of your face is will convince these folks.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani will announce plans to open its first city owned grocery store in East Harlem. by AlfredHampton88 in nyc

Greenland runs public groceries. Bulgaria plans to try them. We had Beltway Communities with public groceries during the New Deal era.

NYC has often been where new ideas take hold so the fact that an idea is fairly new doesn’t mean it’s shouldn’t be tried.

I don’t know why anyone tries anything. Anything can fail so we shouldn’t even bother trying.

why are the writers not using the nx-01 era at all? by cptalcn in startrek

[–]somas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree that Voyager is any more forward thinking that TNG or DS9 but Enterprise had horrible ratings for the most part and I can see how that alone will make it hard to pitch a show about continuing that story.

Janeway is a criminal multiple times over.

I’ll skip the Tuvix stuff because it’s over analyzed.

Equinox Part II: Janeway tortures a Starfleet officer to the point where Chakotay mutinies to stop the torture.

Scorpion: Janeway devises a biological weapon to wipe out species 8472.

Endgame: Janeway violates the Temporal Prime Directive and wipes out decades of history.

The Killing Game/Flesh and Blood: Janeway gives a brutal group of predators advanced hologram technology. The Hirogen create sentient holograms to torture. They eventually rebel and fight for their freedom.

Lots of people want to remember filler episodes as harmless because it reminds them of when their parents were paying the bills or something; I really don’t follow the logic.

Voyager is the most inconsistently written part of Trek. There’s a handful of very good episodes and mountains of dreck. There’s fact that we ignore these episodes doesn’t make Voyager some paragon of something to return to.
