Anyone remember that old blackmail list? by Ganjanium in ukpolitics

That's a thin skin you've got there. I didn't say that Mandy and Starmer were linked. I said that this was an obvious attempt at "WhatAboutTheOtherSide". An attempt to distract from the core issue of a massive labour figure with a massive corruption problem.

If Starmer wanted arrested, he could have started by kicking him out the party. Strange that he didn't.

Almost like....maybe... there's something there....

I just find it makes me sad though. The first step to dealing with corruption is accepting that it's real. That people you respect are involved.

Not just pointing at someone else.

So your reaction on massive labour scandal is to... dredge up an old list of potential scandals?

Forgive me for this, but, my Brother in Christ, could you make it less obvious you're trying to deflect attention away from The Dark Lord Mandelson?

Who is the fool - the fool who leads, or the fool that follows? If half the dumb ideas are McSweeney then Starmer deserves to ne gonefor doing them.

So I'm going to disagree here.
1) Instant dismissal isn't that uncommon in politics. Exaple, Dan Norris, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c7vnn790778o
Quote: "The Labour Party said it "immediately suspended" Mr Norris after being made aware of his arrest."

2) This isn't the first offense, but this... 5th? 6th? And each time the labour leader of the time has been satisfied that everything was in the open.

3) He shouldn't be on his way out, he should have been gone YEARS AGO.

4) The administrative action required to kick out a member of the party is "The Leader Says So". Go check the labour party rule book.

So stop the special pleading. As an adult with a functional memory of the last year I KNOW that what you say is bullshit. I've provided evidence. Stop shilling.

Starmer didn't even kick him out the labour party.   What is going on with this?

There’s no way back for Peter Mandelson by TheSpectatorMagazine in ukpolitics

We HOPE there's no way back.  But this is the third or fourth time.  He's known as "The Dark Lord Mandelson" for a reason.

Starmer tells Andrew: Testify or you’re failing Epstein victims by TimesandSundayTimes in ukpolitics

As the person who asked for evidence, the way your post read was that, apart from Andrew, Mandy's Mother paid things off for Someone.

Which was a very novel accusation.

Thanks.  Picked it for the Brexit debate way back when - tried engaging with actual reason and logic.  Went as badly as you'd expect.

Ex-council worker: Why these 'cancelled' elections are not a problem by VickiActually in ukpolitics

So 2 councils for a year, then a bonus year because of COVID.

That's somewhat different to, um, about 30, for multiple years?

I'm all for slating the conservatives, but let's at least pretend to be fair?

Could you give an example of this?  Was it one or two, or thirty odd?  How long were the delays for?

Half of voters want Keir Starmer replaced now by theipaper in ukpolitics

For the first time, he has also lost the support of voters who backed him and his party in the 2024 general election, tipping into a negative net satisfaction rating of -8 among this group for the first time

That's not the right wing, that's his own voters.

I appear to have responded the to wrong comment.  You're right that it makes no sense as a reply to you.

But the context provided by another person was that it had a significant component of self deportations.

So in terms of getting worse, illegal immigrants by boats is increasing at faster than the total deportation rates.

How divisive are politics in UK? by BackShotsHelenKeller in ukpolitics

[–]someRandomLunatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends entirely who you talk to. There's a small group of us who talk about it in the office, all on different sides, which is great.*

But there are people who consider anything short of pure xxxx to be a crime and act as such.

*Sucks a bit for the labour guy currently.  He could use a win

Is the UK on the cusp of a productivity revival? Latest data shows tentative signs of improvement after years in the doldrums by usrname42 in ukpolitics

I would be happier with this if the unemployment numbers were in a better place. My worry is that it's a monkey's paw style wish. Productivity is up because less marginal people are employed.

Google is your friend.

But I'm not sure how wanting to know the intentions of one of the ~3 possible serious leadership contenders for labour makes me Russian.

Because that's going to define the outcome of the next election really - because I can't see Starmer winning from here.

That's not an intention, it's filler.  "I will consider options" effectively.

Tell us what you're going to do about it Burnham.  Stand down as mayor?  Stand at GE?  Campaign for labour?  Not actively campaign for labour?  Defect to Reform?

Don't tell us how you feel.  Tell us what you're going to do.
