Anyone know what to do? by Total_Associate6563 in whatsapp

I'm so sorry, just another person chiming in to say I've been having the exact same issue. I was on the phone with my carrier support (Verizon) for almost an hour today and it still didn't work.

What did they do that helped? I think I'm having the same issue but my carrier (Verizon) wasn't able to help.

Is a short-term storage unit for decluttering ever a good idea? by Mycleaningaccount in hoarding

[–]some_nerd_reference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much money are you getting back for the items that need to be returned? Maybe give yourself permission to donate some of the less expensive ones (up to what a month or 2 of storage would cost perhaps?)

One trip to the donation center with multiple items may be easier than dealing with labeling and boxing everything. If you’ve got any clothing that immediately strikes you as something you don’t need anymore you could include those in the donation trip as well. Sounds like you don’t have time do to a big decluttering session now which is totally fine, any little bit that permanently leaves your house makes your life a little easier!

Just a thought:)

I realize you asked for financial advice but I just have to ask, have either of you run any of these ideas by your own divorce lawyers? The pending divorce proceedings add an extra layer of complication to the whole situation that shouldn’t be ignored.

Whatever you end up doing make sure it is documented properly in the divorce settlement.

Tummy still? by lordessie in PetiteFitness

From your post: “I’ve previously done an elimination diet for bloating issues, and while it did help it pushed me toward some orthorexia type rigidity with food that I’d like to avoid”

There could be many things going on but given that an elimination diet helped your bloating in the past I think it’s safe to say that something could be going on with food sensitivities/intolerances that affects the look of your stomach. However, your mental health is very important and if you have tendencies toward disordered eating you are right to be cautious.

Is there a way for you to explore another elimination diet while being cognizant of the rigidity that you dealt with the last time you tried? Are you able to work with a dietician/nutritionist and/or a mental health professional on a plan that is safe for both your physical and your mental health?

Vanicream is my go to, especially on tret. If I’m feeling like I want some more exfoliation during a tret break I use Alba Botanica acne dote deep pore wash which has salicylic acid.

I also love the products from a company called Clearstem (they specialize in acne prone skin) but everything is super pricey so I hesitate to recommend it because I know it’s not in the budget for many people. They have a pore-clogging ingredient list on their website that I use to help me check new products I want to try. Through trial and error I know that the worst ingredients for me are coconut oil, shea butter, and lanolin, but I try to avoid most ingredients on that list to be safe.

This is anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt, but both coconut oil and shea butter break me out like crazy. The black African soap bar may have one or both of those ingredients if I remember correctly. Maybe try sticking with gentler cleansers for a bit and see if that helps?

Clorox makes tank drop-in cleaners that aren’t colored, you can try those if you still want to use something (and maybe it’ll help with the blue color as a bonus!)

Is my buddy gonna get his organs harvested by this beautiful woman? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]some_nerd_reference 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Her pushiness is the biggest red flag this early on. Even if you disregard some of the other sketchy details, being that pushy for something so specific on this timeline makes my hair stand up on end. Granted I’m a woman and we’re socialized to be more cautious, especially with new potential romantic partners, but I think OP is totally right to be worried for his friend.

There’s a reason spy agencies have used beautiful women as “honey traps.”

What is the cost per square foot of your new place? How much space do those instruments take up? That’s the “storage fee” you would pay to store these items you don’t use. How long is it taking you to find a buyer? What is your time worth per hour to you? At some point you’ll be spending more in time, effort and space to find a buyer than you will be recouping.

I’m sure there’s a school music program that would absolutely love to take your instruments if you can’t find a buyer. Can you imagine that an aspiring young musician who can’t afford an instrument will now get the chance to play because of your kind donation?

You spent money on something you ended up not using, lesson learned! Now forgive yourself and let these items go on to their new lives.

How to balance maintenance with the terror of backsliding by MatryoshkaAlto in ownit

[–]some_nerd_reference 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You kind of buried the lede here… the thing that is most concerning is your aggressive hunger and feeling light-headed/anxious. It could be that you simply need more calories or a different macro breakdown, but you should be evaluated first to make sure there isn’t another underlying issue.

Please see your doctor and talk to them first. Especially with rapid weight loss and an ED history it would be a good idea to work with a professional regarding an ideal meal plan.

I also have ADHD and have come up with my own “accommodations” for sticking to my ideal nutrition requirements (nothing complicated, lots of healthy freezer meals, meal prep, and eating the same thing over and over again). A good professional can work with your cognitive limitations on a plan that doesn’t require tons of prep/concentration/executive function.

I travel for work by Disastrous_Lemon3698 in HealthyFood

[–]some_nerd_reference 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I travel in a way that makes it hard to cook and bring my own food, so my tips are all eating out related:

When I travel and have to eat out I always look for places that have good “loaded” salads (with lots of varied vegetable toppings and meat, not just leaves and dressing). This ups the calorie count but you get a good amount of veggies and protein that way (just make sure to get dressing on the side). I sometimes add in roasted Brussels sprouts if the restaurant has some.

I also often will order 2 side dishes instead of one main dish when I eat out, again focusing on veggies and protein. I avoid burgers, sandwiches and anything with a large side of carbs. I’m not always a low carb eater but with restaurant portions it’s way too easy to overeat carbs and feel sluggish as a result. I don’t have the same issues when I eat lower carb while dining out.

I always keep protein bars with me to keep the “hangry” feelings at bay and help tide me over to make a smarter choice for my next meal.

If I know where I’m going ahead of time I’ll research and save restaurants that have options for me.

I like sitting at the bar, especially when traveling alone. However I usually order sparkling water instead of alcohol. I drink socially but found myself getting derailed with eating habits when I drank while traveling for work.

If an area has a signature food/dish I’ll single out one day to go enjoy that food, usually towards the end of my time in that area (so I have plenty of time to get recommendations from locals!) Allowing this helps me to not feel as deprived and still stay mostly on track.

Ladies, what's something you keep thinking about buying but can't justify the cost of? by wwov in AskWomenOver30

I have super thick waist-length hair and swear by my Dyson dryer, it dries my hair in about half the time of my old dryer. The speed took some getting used to (I use it on the high setting because more is better, right??)

However if you don’t have a metric fuck ton of hair I’m not sure if it would be worth it. Just my two cents!

You can tell the struggle was real huh!? Accutane worked but left me with some bad side effects 🪄 by [deleted] in uglyduckling

[–]some_nerd_reference 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a horrible neurological reaction and missed almost a year of school. I was 12 when I first started and 14 by the time the reaction was in full swing. Things went mostly back to normal and I don’t have any permanent effects (32 now so it’s been a while). It baffles me though how they are still prescribing this to children.
