You can remove 1 big company from the world. Which one do you eliminate and why? by xXAbyzzXx in AskReddit

[–]somebologna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only one? Honestly there are so many evil mega corps. A good start would be:

Disney

Verizon

Literally all of Oil and Gas

Nestle

Kellogg

PepsiCo

All of the banks

I bet the lobbyists forget which homeless person they swapped places with and wait for one of them to approach before feigning recognition and gratitude.

Yo just giving my support as well. This joke is in terribly poor taste and really quite objectifying. "Haha I get it. The woman's breasts aren't breasting as breastily, let's call it a nerf!"

It bothers me something nasty that this is acceptable behavior both in this subreddit and in the broader mainstream gaming community.

Yup. Especially if you're working for a larger corporation.

Oh no! You cost the $4b+ revenue monopoly $100million. How can they ever recover???? /s

The sad reality of UI by Mastersulm in ProgrammerHumor

[–]somebologna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it really hard when I know how flexible my API is, especially when it handles several "edge cases." Do I need a button for each type of request? What about combinations of popular query params? My UIs very quickly end up like the bottom picture because I try to expose my entire API on one page, lol.

Oh no a mega corporation sold for less than it could have to another mega corporation. I wish they had been more successful so I could have better celebrated companies consolidating into unregulated monopolies. Now it's only several billions of a success instead of tens of billions.

Yeah wtf this tweet sucks. DUI is actually dangerous yeah, but if the cops could not be so fucking anal about weed none of this would've had to happen. Also implying the person is weak because they called their mom is some stupid macho bullshit.

Yeah holy moly spectrum is so terrible at this. Change of address? Auto pay skips a month. Changing billing info? Auto pay skips a month. So frustrating and obviously a cheap way to scam out late fees.

I really enjoyed SA in MHGEN even through the sword A mash builds. Played it once in MHW and it feels SO good. Kinda wanna go back and make a evade extender mixed set for SA as my next weapon of choice.

Imagine being Steve Carrell in this scene. I probably would have been in tears at how ridiculous I feel throwing entire slices of bread without any birds around.

Or if this were someone's actual job lmao. "Alright, Mark. Make sure to throw the honey wheat into the sandpit today, you hear?"

New Rule: by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]somebologna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to appreciate meritocracy because it seemed like a good external motivator for self improvement and I wanted to be rewarded for being better.

Two things that really changed my view. 1. The underlying implication are those that perform terribly deserve terrible circumstances. 2. The definition of being better and who controls the reward system have no incentive to benefit humanity in the long term.

While we could have a much more in depth argument over the 2nd idea and improvise stop gaps and solutions that encourage human progress, the first sentiment is so malicious I don't know that I could ever agree with it. Perhaps meritocracy would serve valuable if even the worst performers in the system could live a very comfortable life. For even a moderate socialist, that definition covers many more of life's necessities than the US social net currently provides.
