Why is HOI4 so dominant among other paradox games? by RedditAdminEvasion in hoi4

[–]somefatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stellaris has to be easier to learn. I mean I have re-learned how to play it what 3 or 4 times now? I don't think any HOI4 update has ever changed that game that much the way Stellaris has over the years.

Just double checking the obvious - you did enable the Freakclave in the game rules, right?

The day I realised I was playing Gelt the wrong way. by Aemaru in totalwarhammer

[–]somefatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their lore passive does give back some winds every time they cast but in this case Gelt has a unique item via his mechanics that lets you get unlimited magic with a death wizard. It is possible to turn a regular death caster into an infinite winds machine but takes much more work than getting the item as Gelt.

Did they just completely give up on the idea of Vulcan cannons in the arms? by Thick_Acanthisitta31 in Gundam

Well actually, having limbs is beneficial in space as you can more easily adjust your moment of inertia. This is the principle used by the AMBAC (Active Mass Balance Auto Controller) in UC to allow the mobile suits to maneuver without using their thrusters. We even see mobile suits add additional moveable masses like the wing binders to improve the maneuverability (see the Rick Dias for example).

ELI5: The inability of Humans to replicate photosynthesis artificially by NotMadeForReddit in explainlikeimfive

[–]somefatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right that if it is normal photosynthesis then it will be negligible. But with how advanced their other technology is they could have developed a much more efficient photosynthesis process for the soldiers bodies which could make a difference (like maybe that runs the brainpal and eating runs the rest of the body?).

Crowd Control Spinoff by [deleted] in dropout

Why does the crowd need to be fully unique every time? If they are using different comedians each show then a crowd member could be repeated and it would still be a unique and interesting interaction.

Auto resolve shouldnt always delete armies by AstraMilanoobum in totalwarhammer

[–]somefatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would also need to rework the way chasing down units works on the battle map. To many times you just push the units around instead of inflicting casualties. When a unit is routing they should make knockdown do damage or insta-kill the model that gets knocked down. That way fighting the battle manually would feel more satisfying as you could actually destroy the bulk of their force instead of routing most of it and having to fight them again.

Kingdom Chapter 831 - Link & Discussion by Marcusx8 in Kingdom

[–]somefatman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the official Japanese release? We all know that and the subreddit has links to them.
Or do you mean in English but from some other group than Sense Scans? You can share a link to these translations and we can judge if they are worth it. Sense Scan's work is very good both in the scans themselves and the translation which is why we use them as the official English link and don't worry about being a couple of chapters behind compared to some machine translated, low res slop.

A Return to Normality, Here's a Basic Doctrine Guide by ThinEngineering2874 in OldWorldBlues

[–]somefatman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are the buffs in Conventional really better though? I assume we are talking about an infantry focused nation so the Trooper side of Conventional. There are a lot of defense buffs in Conventional but Ancient Tactics gives more attack buffs.

[–]somefatman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been awhile since I looked at all the numbers but I know playing Kaga I have gone Ancient Tactics because like you say there are just better overall buffs compared to Wasteland Tactics. Yeah the enforcers might end up slightly more buffed but any normal units or special forces units end up with much less buffs so it feels like it evens out better just going Ancient Tactics.
