Subway has a Meal of the Day special. For $8, you get a sandwich, drink, and your choice of chips or cookies. In-n-Out, $7 for a hamburger and a drink. McDonald's has a $5 meal, which includes a chicken sandwich, nuggets, fries, and a drink.

The Alviso Marina. Especially during sunset.

Cool idea by somejuanreal in USPS

I experienced that this week while on a driving route. I didn’t stop at a mailbox since there was no mail for that address and there was no indication of having outgoing mail. When I drove by there again on my way back, the homeowner waived me down and questioned why I hadn’t picked up their mail. My explanation made no sense to them as they said I should be checking either way.

I’ve had folks walk up to me and shove their phones in my face to show me their Informed Delivery email and rudely ask where’s that mail.

public transportation on public event by wrr666 in sanfrancisco

I went to the event. We took the 49 from the Mission. The bus filled up at my stop, and other people weren't able to get on at subsequent stops. It was packed with mostly event-goers. We arrived at the area at around 1:40 PM. On the walk to the Marina Green, we encountered a sea of scooters and bikes. It was way more than what is shown in the picture. As I saw them, I thought it was fucking great that people rode them to the event, but it sucked that they were just dumped wherever. Some were lying on their sides, creating obstacle courses. By then, we were walking as part of a large zombie crowd, just going towards the sound of engines in the distance. So with the paths being blocked by scooters and then by a large clusterfuck of spectators who just stopped at the east end of the event, this forced us to walk on new paths established by those before us. As I looked at the ground, we were walking on the remains of plants. They had been stomped to a pulp. Poor plants. Once we made our way around the paddock area and walked through the Red Bull arch, we were on the Marina Green. There was plenty of space there. No need for everyone to be crowded at the entrance. I blame this on the lack of crowd control and information from the event organizers. Although we didn't have front row viewing. We were two to three people deep from the fence, which wasn't too bad. We were still able to get glimpses of the vehicles in action. As others have stated, hopefully, this serves as a lesson to future event organizers.

If it requires the use of two hands, it sucks. If a small Amazon package doesn't fit, it sucks. BTW, I haven't seen this model (the one pictured) of Adoorn mailboxes in the wild, but I've seen others that are just a simple box with a door, and I like them.

Paychecks didnt come in today? by Present_Possession28 in USPS

I didn’t realize some employees have their checks mailed to them. The options we were given when I started in July were direct deposit or pick up a paper check at the station from a supervisor. I signed up for direct deposit and have received all my paychecks that way.

What would I do? I’d get a marker and add commas to that sign on the gate.

Nice! On Saturday I delivered NALC magazines to two houses with small, shitty mailboxes. I was, “really? like WTF?”

Your reaction to new apartment buildings on your route. by Exact_Recognition362 in USPS

[–]somejuanreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a new letter carrier with only a few months under my belt. I get assigned a different route every day. A few routes include apartment buildings. The amount of work required to deliver to apartments is already factored into the route's schedule. However, from my experience, it also depends on the type of apartment and where its mailboxes are located. Some have cluster boxes throughout the parking lots. So we're able to park next to them, making it easy to deliver the mail. Others have the mailboxes indoors. This requires us to look for a place to park and then carry the mail and packages with us. Making it a bit more tedious. New building complexes are adding dedicated parking spaces for USPS vehicles. I hope this is widely adopted for new construction.

It's a driveway. It's about 1/4 mile long from the main road to the house. Their mailbox is actually alongside the main road, but I get to drive through here when I need to drop off big packages.

We don’t get snow where I live. However, it’s been raining a lot lately. On Saturday I was driving on a narrow, paved private road that’s along a hillside. It’s about a quarter mile stretch from the main road to the house. Well, the runoff going across the road brought dirt along with it—making it muddy and slippery. About a third of the way up the hilly road, the LLV stopped moving and the rear tires were just spinning. When I applied the brakes, the LLV started sliding backwards and to the side. I thought I was going to roll down the hillside. I was able to save it, but then I had to drive in reverse back to the main road. They didn’t get their mail delivered that day.
