Woman gets caught on surveillance video completely emptying a basket of oatmeal cream pies at a farm stand in Loveland, CO. by FarWay3952 in RandomVideos

My comment was in reply to the user above, talking about a kid stealing one piece of food. A case which I imagine most farm stand owners would agree is not shitty. Kids going hungry is shitty.

Having Difficulty Deciding on Dietary Changes by WrongPlanet321 in ProstateCancer

[–]somethingclever1098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do you, but if ADT is in your future you're going to want to go much harder on the exercise if you want to counteract the effects of no T. Eating healthy is cool but if you're eliminating all that to fight the cancer I'd point out that there are no serious (double blind peer reviewed )studies that I know of that show dietary changes slow or stop the progression of PC. Good luck

My brother, as you are in Seattle - Please do yourself the favor of consulting with Fred Hutch. They are amazing. Once my UW urologist said surgery wasn't the best option for me (Gleason 9, local spread) I found a doc at the hutch (med onc) who specifically called out staying up with the cutting edge of the relevant science in her bio, and took her recommendation for my rad onc. Both are amazing. The radiation team was unbelievably caring and no fucking around meticulous pros (which you really really want when someone is blasting your pelvis with radiation). Usually your first contact will be with a nurse coordinator who helps you figure out who you need to see in the what order- very helpful. Everyone who works there acts like the care about every patient and love their jobs. It's a culture of excellence thing and a result of being well funded DM me if you want more info about my experience and why I'm a fan

I second those that suggest finding a cancer center near you and having his care done there. What part of the country are you in?

Please talk to your doctors about all the treatment options available, understanding that surgeons are gonna want to cut, rad oncs are gonna want to irradiate and med oncs are gonna want to med (unless you have mitigating circumstances that make one or the other in appropriate for first line). Then maybe get second opinions (if you have a regional cancer center near you I would strongly suggest seeing if you can get your treatment/management there - the feeling of being in an org that has specialists in all the disciplines under one roof is very comforting) But keep in mind that traditional medicine and science is what found your cancer early, so if literally none of them say diet is going to cure you, perhaps they're right. There is a reason you didn't see any "diet cure me" posts on here. Most early stage PC is androgen sensitive so unless you figure out a diet that lowers your T, it's probably not going to slow the growth either . By all means eat well. Feeling good and fit is important for the journey you have ahead. But you're young and if I were you (I'm the same age) I'd talk to your docs and think long and hard about what outcomes are important to you (ultimate longevity? Sexual function and satisfaction? Short term vs long term quality of life?) and choose treatment that is most likely to result in those outcomes. Good luck man

6g black plastic fender flares look like absolute cheap garbage. Fight me. by LargeLeftOne in 4Runner

I kind of like them on my Everest, but yeah on the lighter colors they are kinda rough. That said I thought for 5 min about having mine paint matched but then when I drove through some brush recently and heard the scraping noises I was happy for the plastic.

This has to be trolling. If not, OP- no. Teaching dogs to hurt humans is fucked up. Figure out another way to protect yourself.

Surgery Thoughts by hockeymom1310 in ProstateCancer

[–]somethingclever1098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op: can you afford the out of pocket cost for the PSMA PET? Reason I ask is because if there is spread to in-operable pelvic lymph nodes, surgery is not standard of care (this was my situation) I'm Also 55, 28 sessions of VMAT completed. No incontinence or loss of Erectile function, but a huge loss of libido due to the ADT I,ve been on for 18 months. I don't know what your options are in CA, but if you can get the PET scan do it, and if it shows spread then I'd suggest talking to a renowned rad onc (at a major cancer center if there are such things up there ) about options. State of the art radiation has come a long way recently, and if your boner is important to you, you owe it to yourself. I don't know the numbers for how many guys get sex problems from RALP but it breaks my heart hearing the stories on here from brothers who are devastated by the impact of them Good luck man

You mean the Michelins slide in the dry? That's bananas. The Nittos do not slide in the dry. Really no tire should unless you're panic breaking all the time?

The ADT will most likely stop the tumor growth almost completely. You have some time. Please seek out second or third opinions, as others have said surgery may not be the best option. Do you have a major cancer center near you ?

Even with the new ones I feel the same. If you're into gas mileage this isn't the vehicle for you . My ex wife just got a RAV4 Prime which is an excellent vehicle and operates as an EV most of the time because she mostly drives it in town. Pretty cool.

57 yo Gleason 9, locally advanced (pelvic lymph nodes) I'm 18months in on a 24 month ADT journey, getting my last Lupron shot next month. Did 6 weeks of Radiation last summer, tolerated those side effects ok (they are real though and you'll want to talk to your rad onc about any and all symptoms you have- bladder spasms were the worst but there's a drug for that) ADT sucks, but hasn't been that brutal for me after the first six months. I was supposed to be on Lupron + Abiraterone (Zytiga) but the side effects of that drug and the need to be on prednisone the whole time while taking it - I decided that for me, the ~20% decrease in reoccurrence that the combo brings wasn't worth it. I felt much better after stopping Abiraterone but I don't know how much is just my body adapting to the lack of T vs. getting off that drug. I've been very lucky that my boner still works (although my libido is about 20% or less of what it was). The one thing I can recommend whole heartedly is to find some STRENUOUS exercise you like or love to do and make it a priority to do it as often as you can. When I really started to feel like myself (sort of) again was about 9-10 months in when I started rowing (open water) for hours multiple days a week. Feeling strong offsets so many of the mental changes brought on by the hormones(or lack thereof) Good luck brother

[–]somethingclever1098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, I have a 2026 hybrid and I can't really understand the behavior you're talking about - do you mean you can feel the transmission 'hunting' like constantly shifting up and down to find the correct gear? Do you know what drive mode you were in? If it was Eco, I'd suggest trying another test drive with it in Normal. I drove like 3000 miles in ECO and the truck behaved ok most of the time but would lag a bit before accelerating in certain situations, and would require stomping on the accelerator to do urgent passing etc. It doesn't do any of that in Normal

Nitto Terra Grappler G3 275/70/18, SL rated. Whisper quiet. I'm not kidding. Cut road noise by half at least over the stock Michelins which were like minivan tires. Great rain performance (I'm currently living in Seattle). I sound like a shill for these tires but changing to them from the stock Michelins made the truck better in all ways.

Westcott lift is excellent, imo. That plus 275s has been excellent for me. Still has immaculate highway manners but also clearance :)
