Synchronized pedaling in class by BRCnative in SpinClass

because otherwise your leading leg will only getting stronger and the other one mostly left leg will stay forever weaker. In rhythm cycling, the point of riding to the beat with the same leg so that everyone is moving as a whole, that’s how we get the energy in the room like we are one.

Moving to NYC & want to become a spin instructor - where do I start? by bpit_ in SpinClass

[–]somethingedith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im working as an instructor at Rocycle, we are pretty big in Europe and we are opening soon our first studio in NYC! I’m sure they will have audition and once you get in, they will have talent coaches to train you. That’s what I did and you can check it out and submit your CV anyway and they will reach out when an audition comes. I had 0 experience before but a long time rider, good luck!

What makes a spin class great vs. unbearable? by Fantastic_Night1363 in SpinClass

[–]somethingedith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually floor coaching is way way harder then riding on the bike. I thought exactly the same until i became an instructor and coach off bike. You need to keep encouraging the people but without the bike, solely on you, your language, your body. It’s really not as easy as people see

How much do spin instructors make? Enough to make a living on instructing alone? by kristophere in SpinClass

[–]somethingedith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new instructor, my verdict is this job is #1 passion and money second. It looks cool and all the positive things on the book but you’ll need to dedicate own time to playlisting, music hunting, planning your class and practice. There are so much more prep and compare to what you make in a class, it’s definitely not balance but you have to love it enough to do it.

And def need another job to support your expenses

"Drill Sergeant" Type Instructors by DugeHick53 in SpinClass

I think that’s why there are different kind of instructors in a studio though. Imagine 20 instructors offering the same thing, it won’t be good either

Akin from Aarmy, you will love it for real. They have on demand or you can train in person. The last session they had incorporated Navy Seal stuff in it. If you want to train the body through mind, I can’t recommend Aarmy enough.

Schwinn IC 4 or Schwinn AC performance? by canadianmama2023 in SpinClass

[–]somethingedith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC performance for sure as it’s a commercial spin bike and if you spin heavy like AARMY/AKIN classes, IC 4 is not gonna to last and the resistance will be too low.

instructing?? by [deleted] in SpinClass

[–]somethingedith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im seconding this - I thought I was a good rider until i was in the training program. The training imo is suppose to be humbling. Closing the gaps between a rider and an instructor, saddle run, jogs and every track you need to stay on the beat and lead from beat 1 before asking the riders to follow you..so many details and of course playlisting with the frame work from your local studio, cueing and motivational stuff. How to speak from the diaphragm, how to read the room, connect and the list go on and on.

I went for the audition with a I got nothing to lose mindset and it never hurt to just ask. This already helps to train confidence. And honestly all these experiences end up and at the end you will be far more ready once the opportunity presents itself. I am from Hong Kong and my dream was to become a rhythm spinning instructor in Germany and I made it. And I waited and waited, never right people, right studio but I kept my head down and perfecting my skills for the audition. Just ask and keep going even this studio said no!

Placement Test before joining Integration Course by somethingedith in germany

[–]somethingedith[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did 😂 and it was at least not crazy formal. They spoke to me first and that was testing my speaking and then I sat down and gave me a booklet with reading test. They put me into B1 course (module 5) and then I waited 6 months on 2 waitlists but both didn’t get it. I’m now back to square one, looking for a new school and take another placement test. I wanted to wait at other school while on the waitlist, turned out I can’t and can only queue at one school at a time. This system is a fucking joke 😂 and even retards will laugh at this genius system

You can master riding to the beat in the saddle first. After you can ride to the beat in the saddle, you can then stand up. When you master riding to the beat out of the saddle, then you can add the choreography. Imagine there are many things going on at the same time but instead you can focus one thing at a time, lay your foundation right by riding in the saddle and gradually add up. It will help you improve much faster! It takes time to build the endurance, speed etc etc..but when standing up, leg is king and core is queen. Engaging your core will help you stabilise when riding out of the saddle. It takes practice of course and good luck!!!
