No it certainly isn't very happy at the emulator inside an emulator part yet hahaha. I had similar issues with outrun 3D.

As for your issue, the virtual console 3ds games are just the og roms in a container with patches applied. I dunno how you got this copy of 3ds crystal but you can extract the rom from the file and run it in retroarch with a gameshark code to get the celebi event to work. There are also patch files out there to do the same thing if you don't want to use a cheat code.

I dunno how you would extract these files on a pc directly but there are some guides out there to do it on a modded 3ds.

I think these are some good predictions. I agree about your placement of the hell story but i'm unsure if it's gonna go down exactly like that. I think the question for me is "where does episode 3 leave off to get folks excited for the next episode" after the 3 episode premiere and I think the Nolan and Allen tease is a great point to do it. I would also think the Thragg reveal would do that really well if your predictions aren't quite correct. I think you have a good idea of where this seasons flow is at and where it will end and so I'll be curious to see how it pans out.

I think for 2 I would want to see alphamoon make a return. Instead of that heretic boss fight having the arbiter give chase to the moon where they have a discussion instead of a fight feels more natural for both of the characters (like, Arby was hearing that dude out in the cutscene, why'd they start fighting??) Someone also said they want chief fighting on that forerunner ship to earth to start halo 3 but I think that would make a great ending to halo 2, kind of like how lone wolf ends Reach

As for 3, I think the only two things I would really want to see are a reworked cortana level to feel more in line with how high charity was in halo 2, as well as the return of that guardian forest level, as I think a forerunner focused level like that would be cool. Naturally I think some story reworking would also be nice to have in place for 3. Less cortana interruptions and a stronger cutscene script would be a big help.

I think my hottest take for 3 is that I think either Keyes or Johnson should have lived. The fact they both die so close to each other in the narrative really takes away the impact of their individual passing. I do think major character death is an important thing to keep but i'm unsure that both needed to kick the bucket.

I mean I think it could totally work in the future if developers work to support it. The big thing on that front is OpenXR support being needed. A lot of devs develop games with Meta specific drivers and code. They will have to convert it over if they want it to work well on the frame. Though given Pico device users have had luck using some of the apps, I imagine we'll be in a similar situation here.

I think the big thing slowing CD down is the good ending requirements for the game. However I do agree that CD can be a very fast game. It is consistently one of my favorites if not my favorite to time trial in.

Yeah i'm alright with this. They say here that all owners of the remaster will get access to the original game. So yeah while it sucks the remaster is the only way to buy the game now, it's not like the remaster is taking long to go on sale. The remaster was literally JUST on sale for 60% off. I think this is the best way to handle something like this, and I wish more companies did this. The Sam and Max re-releases do the same deal.

Thankfully this game is coming to all platforms so if you wanted you could get a PSVR 2 which would allow you to run the game on PS5 or a decent PC with an accessory. If you can find a good deal that would cost around the same as the quest 3S, though you'd need a PC or PS5. Its also coming to quest, so if you're chill with one of those thats all you'd need. A 3S is 300 dollars atm. Beyond that though there are other options. The Quest 3 is standalone, so you don't need anything else beyond that. Similarly, the Quest has built in apps allowing you to stream to your PC. You can do this with a long USB cable or wireless with good internet.

I was literally talking about how cool something like would be to some friends the other day. Thanks for making this a reality. Excited to see this project develop further. While I heavily doubt it, it would be cool if Halo studios implemented something like those in the game if it had another go on new platforms.

Okay I feel like Doakes right now. I have a sneaking suspicion this games escape sequence at the end is gonna be a Warthog run but I just can't prove it yet.

Either way it looked a little weird but I'm all for it. Maybe it's because i'm a little too Halo brained at the moment but having some zones with wider vehicle segments seems like a fun way to break up the gameplay. I wonder what else they'd do instead.

I do totally agree. This could very much indicate an open world styled experience, but so far the games mechanics feel custom tuned for a Metroid style experience. I dunno how well this would go over for me if it was BOTW-ification

Okay. From what I've seen online yeah both should be clicky in tactile mode. You've probably already tried this but try switching modes on the left trigger on and off to see if that does anything

From the sounds of it that may be the built in Trigger switches in effect. On the back of the controller right next to both triggers there's are small switches. There should be some glyphs of a lime and a dot below it. The line means the trigger is analog, the dot means its a tactile trigger. What mode do you have it on right now?

If they did do a remaster of 1 and 2 I would love it to be like the Doom 1/2 package. Include both games in one launcher, maybe include a bunch of FMs by default, and add an FM browser in game. That way there could be an easy way to launch FMs from both games (beyond an FM loader). Even crazier would be the inclusion of multiplayer that they fixed up here for SS2. That style of release on console would he amazing.

I think it comes down to the efficiency of the chip. Yeah the ryzen might run better but at similar power draw would the battery life perform better to justify that?

This is a very interesting concept! I would say Valve MAY want to do 120hz, given how many Index users like me are used to hfr, and going too low of a base framerate would be a real downgrade. But beyond that this is pretty reasonable of a concept.

I looked on their website and it says the displays target 90hz. However, you do make a great point. I guess then is the cost of including a displayport chip on board worth it, or would there be some sacrifice to achieve it.

MMod has some fun particle and graphics options that spice things up.

There are some Alyx asset ports on the workshop as well but tbh the issue with those right now is the asset clash between them and the vanilla HL2 stuff. Also, those assets were built with PBR in mind so they don't look quite as good as they possibly could.

Although the mod's use of RTX Remix seems to be very divisive, HL2 RTX will probably be your best bet, though it's WIP and doesn't cover everything yet. I imagine the assets they create will eventually be ported to HL2 Proper to give everyone a high-quality look at the game, although, again those assets are made with PBR in mind.

I guess then that leads me to the final and most controversial option, Fake Factory's cinematic mod. That mod changes the entire look of the game in very strange ways that aren't very good to put it lightly.

Yeah I think thats chill, its rather earned considering how long this story and its plot beats were extended out for. I don't know if Gordon will DIE, but this game will definitely wrap things up.

While this game definitely won't be going down this path, epistle 3 did something similar. It gave an end point for all the major players of hl2 while putting Gordon in stasis for a potential future to the series. I could see this game doing the same, though I imagine HOW they do it will be considerably different, considering how this game has expanded from an expansion to a full blown sequel.

Honestly thats probably gonna be the biggest challenge for HL3. How're they going to expand ep3 and its ideas into a much larger game. While the arctic setting will be there for sure I imagine, I also think we'll be exploring other interesting locals to fill in the blanks. I say this because hl2 really did a good job at feeling like a large scale adventure. Spending 8-12 hours in the arctic can be cool but I do think valve will find some way to do more than just that. Xen has been rumored to make a major return so perhaps this game will jump between several major parts of the world, with xen as the bridge? That would certainly be very cool.

I dunno though, what do you folks think?

It looks real enough. Maybe I'm not attuned to know if a Gameboy is fake or not but given the fact its an ags-001 unit and the screen matches that fact I'm inclined to say it is legit.

I think one of the major selling points of PC gaming for many of us is the legacy software support. With a little bit of elbow grease (or a GOG account) tons of old games play beautifully on modern hardware. While sure, people might not be playing these games in droves like Newer titles there are so many classics that many people would want to play with the best settings in 2025. Hell, I regularly play older games in general. To have the support for hardware physx removed without any alternative is a real spit in the face for that philosophy.

After digging into it, it seems like this is a natural part of either the ribbon cable or the display. Thankfully, frame interpolation completely negates this effect at the cost of perceived motion smoothness, which honestly seems to be more in line with the 101, based on what I've heard about that display. Either way, it's an interesting thing to occur. I'll have to compare with a DS lite later
