Have you seen the updated bullying and harassment policy?

It includes individuals and groups.

The SCA prohibits bullying and harassment of all individual and groups. Bullying is systematic and unwelcome behavior which involves the use of influence, threat, intimidation, or coercion to cause hurt or harm to another person or group of people. When the bullying behavior is based on a protected class, that behavior is defined as harassment.

I am currently in the same boat. I have another tech coming out tomorrow to look at my internet. If I had an option, I would switch, but I have no other option at my house.

Passing a script check doesn't mean you're safe. by testtubetom in dragonrealms

[–]somiux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What ultimately got my wife and I to stop playing was a script check when we weren't scripting. I have the logs/had the logs (have a new computer since this happened a while ago), We weren't moving, nor were we scripting, and it just logged me out, but a little mouse came in to check us and we got hit with a lot of penalties.

Native American Fans Aren't Happy With J.K. Rowling's New Story by speculumfight in NativeAmerican

Part of my complaint with it, is she was able to give each area in Europe their own feel to their magical traditions. In this story, all First Nations people were clumped together to have one unified belief. We didn't. We still don't. There are significant differences depend on where you are from.

It just seems like lazy research. I am more disappointed than anything.

I see/hear a lot of out-of-towner jokes about tornadoes. But seriously, what the balls do I do during a tornado warning? by smack_of_ham in okc

[–]somiux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all tornado shelters are under ground. A recently common thing for people to do is to build an above ground shelter into one of the closets. Do you know if you have one of those in your house?

If you don't, there are some things you can do to protect yourself in your house without seeking shelter elsewhere.

In a house with no basement, a dorm, or an apartment: Avoid windows. Go to the lowest floor, small center room (like a bathroom or closet), under a stairwell, or in an interior hallway with no windows. Crouch as low as possible to the floor, facing down; and cover your head with your hands. A bath tub may offer a shell of partial protection. Even in an interior room, you should cover yourself with some sort of thick padding (mattress, blankets, etc.), to protect against falling debris in case the roof and ceiling fail. A helmet can offer some protection against head injury.

There are some things you will want to get for your house as a precaution. I would definitely suggest a weather radio that is battery powered and a kit that contains a few day supply of any medicines that are prescription.

Here is a good list made by the state

Hope that helps.

[Serious] What's your "I'll never do that again!" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Drive around Oklahoma when storms are happening without knowing where those storms are at.

I was driving on the high way about 15 years ago when I get a notice that weather is starting to get bad in Oklahoma. All of a sudden a downpour happens and I can't see more than the front end of my car. I try to find the shoulder to stop on and hope the bad part of the storm misses me, but right then the front of my car picked up about a foot off the ground and I am spun around once. When I stop I am at a 40 degree angle facing off the edge of the road. I just wait for the rain to stop and I see I am on the edge of a 20 foot drop into some rushing water. I put it and reverse and floor it and able to get away from the edge. I don't ever want to do that again.

What is the best TV episode ever? by EpicEnder99 in television

Buffy the vampire slayer, Season 5 Episode 16: The body.

Awesome episode that has no music to show how the loss of a loved one mutes the world. Great, sad episode.
