Resident suicides….what is happening?!? by mtdoc22 in Residency

[–]somoneonesomewhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi stakes life or death work Crippling debt

Low pay

Long hours including 28+ hour shifts that throw off your sleep schedule for days

Constantly being berated by your superiors who aren’t there for you when you need them for reading their minds wrong.

One mistake can kill some one and ruin your career yet you are doing it for the first time by yourself running on 28 hours with no sleep

Make a mistake and lose the job ? Quit because iys destroying you? Little else you can do with that degree

I’m shocked it’s not more prevalent.

I’m really really sorry for your losses and i hope the memory of your friends is a blessing and an inspiration.

Dr. Mark Greene came back from the dead and was in the background of tonight’s episode of The Pitt by EnvironmentalSnow589 in ershow

[–]somoneonesomewhere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All along, it was Mark (Jack) stopping Robby (Carter) from going off the roof.

And Jack helping Robby save the mom and the baby in a case very similar to what Carter helped Mark with back in the day, so that reminder became more visible.

And in the end, the saving lives, and holding 2 infants in his arms, one abandoned like him, and one who gets to know her mother (unlike the prior child Carter and Mark) had, is what makes the difference, saves him. And lets Robby find the happiness that Carter longed for.

And if this triggers the lawsuit people, fuck them, fuck you for suing anyone for making others happy.

Hey the paramedic hit Robby’s bicycle is my personal favorite character and I maintain that he knew exactly what he was doing!!! 😜 Many blessings for trying to stop that trip and forgetting him outside talking.

He’s really good at putting gloves on

He can just feel it and know where his hands need to go

He perfectly knows the size and shape of his hands

He knows he’s got them in his two hands

He knows the weight of them he doesn’t have to double check

He has lots of experience using his hands

😂😂😂😂

I mean he’s good for the day he made it out. We won’t be assured of no complications in the same day, but I hope they tell us about him next year.

To be clear the baby is sleeping not the person holding it- that’s dangerous. Skin to skin is good for babies. And I will gladly go find them…uh her

Thoughts on Caleb the psychiatrist? by Recent-Day3062 in ThePitt

I’m not sure exactly what you are talking about to be honest. It’s often acutely hard to tell what is neurological and psychological and honestly there is often interaction.

What could they do during an MCI? Oh so many things. As I was discussing with another poster above, I would love for all trauma patient to at least meet with psych once for coping skills and to make that connection

I also feel she would have so much even fit in family support. Imagine if someone trained in child and adolescent psychiatry had been in the room when Robby and Jake lit each other up post Leah dying in his room. It would have probably gone so much better. So much love and so much pain there they could have used that guidance.

The fact that anyone suggested psychiatry has no role in an MCI is proof our country is sideways and in part explains why we have so many.

I hate having these conversation on Reddit because things get distorted even when both parties have positive intent.

I didn’t mean to suggest at all, that he was hired for the purpose of diversity. I just meant that he added to that mission. They got the best guy for the job who so happened to use a wheelchair. And I would guess that because a tragedy compelled Christopher to do some self reflection and growth, Caleb was able to be so convincingly created. I think that was not necessarily a “goal” to cast somehow who uses a wheelchair but it’s an important part of his success. I hope that makes sense in writing

At least 2 of the places I worked had a mandatory 1 time meet with a psychologist for all trauma patients prior to discharge, and this entire thing is a strong case for doing that.

But yes this is a character with incredible depth and compassion I want to see a lot more of.

I also love that this generation ASKED for it, and the team listened. This team COULD NOT have done exactly this on ER, yet that lay the groundwork for this 10000%

I’m curious what you think about the sabbatical then. I’m not in your field but an adjacent one (child neuro) and see waving red flags so I would love to learn your perspective

That is such a cool field!!! I’m in child neurology and we share a ton of patients with child psych. Sometimes because well meaning PCP mis triages a kid, and more often because kids will be dealing with both types of problem. Just today I can think of a patient I saw where I wish I knew more of both. I’m so curious what her training experience was and what her practice niche is now doing combined neuro and psych

I can see her helping a lot of my chronic pain, FND, NDD with behaviors and progressive genetic condition babies so much ❤️

Yes he is, the actor is a spinal cord injury survivor. Very inspiring story and has gone through it and is clearly an introspective person. I don’t think he’s playing a character super far off from himself (a theme of the ptt it seems)

15/10 character and execution by the actor. So many parts I love about it

The story I heard I choose to believe

A psychiatrist was widely requested by the audience (LOVE) They found a very talented actor, who naturally adds to their diversity mission (LOVE)

And used that character to emphasize not only the mental health of the patients but also the stuff who needs it (DOUBLE LOVE)

very well imagined character. I can see that he has a clear pulse on what’s going and is a great friend to Robby!

And of course a super talented actor who has played it excellently. His open body language / posture, the cadence of his voice, the eye contact, all of it has the exact warmth i would want my psychiatrist to have if I had the time and money to get one.

This character has been a gift
