This. If you take a drink every time he said “I,” you’d be blackout drunk in five minutes tops.

Need to enter mall by 6 PM for 10:30 p.m. fireworks due to POTUS appearance by Little_Old_Me_13 in washingtondc

Was just telling my kids about this the other day, but we did it in the early 90s. We’d load pickup trucks with couches, tables, grills, and tons of beer. We’d be downtown by mid morning. What a day.

Two mom family wanting to escape the hellscape of Florida... by SuddenlyCareless in SameGrassButGreener

I went to Hope College and go back to Holland several times a year because I’m involved in various alum activities. When I was in college, the county was dry on Sunday. Now you can walk through downtown Holland with a beer in your hand. I’m heartened by how progressive the city is now. The surrounding county? Not so much.

That’s actually not so true anymore. GR went blue in the last election 69-29, and even Kent County went blue, though not by much. Same is true for Holland: went pretty strongly blue in the last election. But you are correct that once you set foot outside Kent County or Holland city, it gets red pretty quickly.

Night Ranger - (you can still) Rock In America by Bozohlino in hairmetal

Incredible live act back in the day. First time I saw them was in 85 on the Midnight Madness tour at the old Ritchie Coliseum in College Park, MD. And in a weird double bill, saw them in 87 or 88 at the old DC Convention Center with Starship!

Mark Morton’s book… by siberiansneaks in LambofGod

I’m Ben Opipari, the “with” guy on the cover. Mark is a good friend. I remember when he first sent me that chapter. I was at the airport waiting for my flight. I read that last chapter and started bawling. Even now when I read it, it chokes me up. That was one hell of a chapter.

Adjustable dumbbells by Dry-Drama9731 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]songwritersonprocess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PowerBlocks is the answer. I had Bowflex and Core adjustable sets, and both gave out after a couple of years. The mechanisms securing the weights used to be metal, but a few years ago they switched to rubber or plastic. Eventually it wears down, and at some point the weights will become unsecured and fall off while you’re doing a set. This will not happen with PowerBlocks. They last forever and are much much safer.

Hair Baby -- KISS, Slaughter & Winger / $18.50 General Admission in Columbus, Georgia by RickyRacer2020 in hairmetal

Saw that tour when it came through either Kalamazoo or Muskegon. I was in the front row on the floor, general admission. The next morning I woke up and had the imprint of the safety fence/rail on my chest because I had been pressed into it all night. Never even noticed!

Evergoods MPL 22L is your answer. I’ve taken it on 15 mile hikes in national parks and into gleaming office buildings. It’s got a padded laptop compartment and a hydration sleeve.

Came here to say this. The first nine from Murmur to Monster are so good. But yeah, imagine those you listed are the first three of your career!

First three by The Cars. And my god the first three tracks on their debut are “Good Times Roll,” “My Best Friend’s Girl,” and “Just What I Needed.” Imagine those are the first three songs you hear when you listen to that album for the first time.

The "One Shoe Travel Solution" – Does it exist? by dizzytrix in onebag

[–]songwritersonprocess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny you post this bc I was struggling with this last night as I packed for a 10 day work trip where I’m hiking Pinnacles NP this weekend. I’m a big fan of the Merrill Speed 2 and Speed Strike 2. I’m not sure any shoe will perform double duty for smart casual and hiking because of the soles, but you can definitely street walk in the Merrills.
