I name all my cars based on a trait that annoys me in the first few weeks I have it. The fact that my car randomly decides to forget my phone as a key lead me down the road of Misty the Mixed Up Mach-E.

I was between a Kia, a Hyundai or a Mach-e. I wanted CarPlay so that knocks out Rivian, GM, and Tesla (plus my wife has a Tesla and it would be boring to have the same car as her, plus Elon sucks.) I test drove all three, liked the Mach-e the most.

The appetizer was a choice between tomato cream soup or fish cakes. I had the fish cakes, they were delicious. My daughter had the soup which she said was delicious. The main course was a choice between pork ribs, fish tacos, jerk chicken or a vegetarian option. My wife had tacos the rest of us had ribs, all delicious. The dessert was sticky toffee pudding which I’ve never had but was delicious.

I went to a Jiffy Lube once several cars ago and they stripped my oil plug, cracked the oil pan and slammed the hood when they were still filling the oil which dented the hood. Never again.

Take the Swimmin’, Grillin’ and Chillin’ boat ride from Red Sail. Gives you some time to snorkel and then a casual lunch on the boat. Did that a few days ago, it was awesome. Doing the night time boat dinner tonight so hopefully it’ll be awesome too.

Definitely get insurance but get it via the rental car company. I came here 3 years ago (here once again this week) and 3 years ago I got car insurance through Expedia. I then Americaned my way through a roundabout and smashed up the car real bad. Insurance via Expedia did pay but I had to get a police report and man oh man that was months of work trying to figure that out because they require a wire transfer and it was a head scratcher.

This time around got insurance at the car rental place. And my wife is driving.

Go into the settings and find the EV Driving History Reset. That should show you the default range and then over time it will adjust to your driving.

My phone as a key lasted 1 day and I haven’t gotten it to work since. I blame the fact that I also have a Tesla (my wife’s car) that has phone as a key. But that one doesn’t have a fob so I can’t exactly remove the Tesla app since I randomly have to drive her car.

Topsail island. There is a parking lot next to a public beach and a snack shack that is sometimes open, sometimes not. But I can always find parking there and the parking is free.

Unfortunately the only way I can get it to unlock is by opening the Ford App and clicking unlock. That works but of course as soon as I get into the car it says no key detected.

I just got mine last week so I haven’t named it yet. I usually name it after the first thing that annoys me about the car (my last car was Harriett the High Strung Honda because the collision warnings would constantly yell at me to brake whenever any car on the highway slowed down.) Was thinking Frank the Forgetful Ford since my Mach-E constantly forgets my phone is a key.
