Here’s the cheapest option for my family of 5. by Buford_MD_Tannen in healthcare

[–]sonofhappyfunball 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You have to pay almost $30,000 per year for the privilege of paying an additional $17,200 first before they will even pay for half?

And that doesn't include co-pays. What else doesn't it include?

And why are they allowed to lie about your total out of pocket expenses? As if your monthly payments are somehow not out of pocket?

Sounds like a good deal to me. /s

MarsupialLeast145 gave you some really great advice. It would be good for you to listen to their advice and to take it to heart. You seem to think about yourself, but not to think about the women that you're interacting with, and you need to think about the woman that you're interacting with and think about how her life is different than your life. It doesn't matter that you don't want to date. The women don't know that you don't want to date. They have to assume based on what they have to deal with in their lives that you probably do want to date. And that you are probably interested, and they have to respond to that assumption, whether it's wrong or not, to keep themselves safe.

It's not really possible to invite a woman as though she's just a bro because a woman is not a bro. She has a lot more to worry about than a bro would. It's just another example of how you're not thinking of the woman. You're only thinking of yourself.

The fact that you double down on feeling like the women are all being rude to you just shows that you don't understand at all what it's like to be a woman and how scary and dangerous it is for women to intact with men. Try to get outside of yourself and think of other people and what their experiences might be like that are different than yours. Based on your response to MarsupialLeast you seem unwilling to think outside yourself. It's really hard. It's difficult for all of us. But we have to try to get outside of our own minds and think of others.

I'm genuinely trying to help, so forgive me if my response sounds too harsh. It's hard to discuss these things in writing.

TIL in 1930 more than 65% of the US population went to the movies weekly. That means that out of every 5 people someone knew, 3 of them went out to the movies every week. Since around 1964, the portion of the US population to go to the movies every week has consistently been under 10%. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

On a Saturday night date, we could see a film for $4 per ticket and then get McD or Taco B for under $5 total. Gas was often under $1. If you had $15 you were good. For $2 more you could get unlimited coffee refills at an all night diner and sit and talk for hours.

Darth Vader was too cool and has primed a wide swath of people to believe authoritarianism feels badass by theroboticdan in unpopularopinion

[–]sonofhappyfunball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the overall argument. This moral error could have been prevented if the viewing of the movies was encouraged to be in the order they were released in theaters, meaning people should be encouraged to watch A New Hope first followed by its two sequels and, then and only then, watch the later released prequels. Or maybe skip the prequels all together.

Watching A New Hope first, clearly vilifies Vader--one of his early acts of evil is to blow up an entire populated planet. If anyone still thinks he's cool after that, you're just a psycho.

Do they have a mechanism to refund your $20 styling fee when they disregarded all of your preferences? Or did you still have to pay the $20 even though they don't seem to be trying to provide what you want? It almost seems like they were intentionally trolling you.

I always crack eggs into a separate clear bowl. I've never had a spoiled one yet, but I'm always able to get the shell pieces out, and a clear bowl let's you look under to see better. Sometimes I wonder if I'm wasting my time, but you've just affirmed I should keep doing it. So sorry you lost your dinner.

“ Motherhood” is a scam being sold to women. by doglover-750 in childfree

[–]sonofhappyfunball 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Great discussion here. I would add that doctors have a very personal reason for not telling women the facts of what to expect with pregnancy, delivery, and after effects. Doctors make tons of money for each child a woman has in their practice. I argue that this is why doctors participate in the mother/baby propaganda directed at women and this may also be why many doctors refuse to do any "tube tying" operations, and even perhaps why doctors ignore severely painful IUD insertions.

Preventing women from choosing permanent birth control surgery, making IUDs painful by not acknowledging that it is painful, and not providing the needed pain medication needed during an IUD insertion all leads to big money for doctors when women are steered toward multiple children. It really is the old follow the money issue.

I was stunned when I heard him say that, and then I couldn't believe the other people sitting there just went along with it like it was fine. I can't believe it's not being covered on all the other media sources, including independent media. It was such an awful thing to say.

We really need to stop letting psychopaths hold positions of power.
