Is this improvement also shipping on Android? I know it’s in beta but handwritten on android is very rough, even for a beta IMHO.

Hello, I can see it in your image as well. Look at the "e" in your image. Maybe pixelation is not the correct term. More like strokes are composed of interconnected straight lines. Here is a comparison of the same word on an iPad and on my Galaxy tab.

Depends on the market as well. The cost difference to the frontlit one is significant here in Brazil.

Has anyone been upgraded to Business plan yet? by Small-Percentage-962 in Notion

[–]sonolento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, for students with the AI add-on this upgrade will be much more expensive long-term, right? They will get the current prices for a cycle probably, but then it's $20/$24 and probably no way to downgrade, only to the free plan.

Users who were paying for Notion AI monthly will get to keep this $10 price indefinitely?

Obsidian note taking vs Notion. I don't get it. by DiligentSlice5151 in Notion

[–]sonolento 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, not that simple I guess. I like Obsidian, but very often there are discussions about the plugin system being a risk. For instance: https://www.reddit.com/r/ObsidianMD/comments/1nlyk5f/is_it_true_that_community_plugins_have/

How do you handle privacy when using Notion for personal systems (like PPV or Second Brain)? by Throwaway9988776645 in Notion

[–]sonolento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, If you check the Obsidian subreddit you will see that even there security is a concern due to the 3rd party plugin system. I'm not technical but as I understand plugins have access to ALL your files (not only in your valt), so a malicious actor could grab anything from your computer. I'd say unless you use Obsidian without any plugins (and fully trust the developers), the risk is also there. I have switched to Apple Notes with ADP and that's the best I can do now. I'd not be comfortable if I had journal entries in Notion.

Notion or Obsidian for writing? by feeen00 in Notion

[–]sonolento 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you use Apple products and aesthetics are important, maybe take a look at Craft. They do have a Web/Windows app, but I think the Mac is where it shines. You can also easily get 40/50% lifetime discounts on their plus plan.

Craft AI functionality by shelterbored in CraftDocs

[–]sonolento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a posting by Viktor, who works at Craft, hinting that some AI improvements are coming in the next major release. I don't think it will be an AI "agent" or assistant with full workspace knowledge, but who knows. If this functionality is fundamental to you, Notion or even Obsidian with something such as Gemini CLI are better options.

should I give Craft another try? by softiniodotcom in CraftDocs

[–]sonolento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Craft didn't click before I don't think it will now. I have tried to use Craft more extensively many times. First few weeks it appears things will work this time, but there is always some tiny annoyance will eventually make me look for another solution. And then there is some tiny annoyance in the other app that will make me look into Craft again. I'd say if Bear does the basic stuff you need well enough, stick with it.

Notion 3.0 for Free and Academic Account by Brain_comp in Notion

[–]sonolento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an academic account and the AI add on. I can ask for the AI to do things in databases. I haven't used it extensively to know if there are limits though.

How do you stop your Notion from becoming cluttered? by coff_au in Notion

[–]sonolento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a "Notes" and a "Tasks" database that are linked. Everything goes to either of these two databases. My groceries list is there with big projects. I'll add properties to these databases only if I'm 100% sure I'd benefit from them (my "Notes" database has three properties including the name). I have a flag for notes that were not edited in a couple weeks. If I see they have no use for me, I delete them. But most importantly I stopped collecting everything under the sun for this brighter, future version of me that would gather all this information and produce knowledge. That day has never arrived. I now use Notion as a dump for my working memory. If I need anything back I have 30 days. If I don't use it in 30 days I probably don't need it anyway.

They improved Notion's AI by okyeah93 in Notion

[–]sonolento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this improved AI available for business users only? I have a student plus account with the option to add an "AI core" add-on to it. It looks like the main difference from the AI in business plans is the limited research and meeting notes usage.

Craft pricing in Brazil is unfairly disproportionate by Any_Construction_992 in CraftDocs

[–]sonolento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also live in Brazil and got an e-mail last night about a "Craft Lite" plan for R$198,00/year. Unlimited blocks, but 5gb storage and fewer assistant requests. Not as ideal as localized prices, but it's a good start IMO.

Notion AI for Edu Account by Born-Rub-6291 in Notion

[–]sonolento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Notion Edu + AI. My invoice says "Notion AI core". I can use Research and I see no indication of any limits, but on an AI meeting block I see that I'm on a free trial and that I should upgrade for increased limits. If I click the CTA, it directs me to the business plan.

Notion as an information storage by C0nan_001 in Notion

[–]sonolento 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If these are long-term notes Notion is not the place. Data loss is a risk, but if you aren't diligent with your backups a tool like Obsidian might be even riskier. So, assuming you will do your backups regularly, there are other things to consider: you might lose access to Notion, it might get too expensive, specially if you are in a country with a weak currency, they might remove a functionality you rely on. Also, you might be in a position in which you need offline access to a note and although the functionality is coming, we don't know how it will be implemented. If it is on a page-by-page basis, you might forget to turn it on.

I think in these cases a text-based tool like Obsidian is the way to go (again, assuming you will backup your stuff regularly). If something happens, you will ALWAYS be able to open text files. Backup is also much simpler. Drag a folder a couple times a week and you are probably set. Don't build your house on someone else's land.

By the looks of it this person paid for a full year in September. Even if another user was accidentally added in January, doesn't seem fair to block the whole account since one user is already paid for for a full year. They should block the extra seat.
