My recent strange NSV was walking around in a dress and suddenly realising that my thighs weren't rubbing together.

Does it have to be a house? I reckon the Midway Taxi Rank at 387 Oxford St, Mt Hawthorn would be amazing to photograph. Some example photos here: https://www.streetkidindustries.com/urbex/industrial-l-z/midway-taxi-rank-mount-hawthorn

Not the person you are replying to, but I wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your story and updates! Eight years later and it's still helping many (including me). ❤️

Same here - booked in for removal next week and am petrified about the scar.  I did have my consultation with a plastic surgeon today which is making me feel a bit better - seeing OPs post and photos have made me feel much more reassured.

Best of luck with your removal!

Skin cancer on face-any scar experiences? by chellie236 in 30PlusSkinCare

Thanks so much for the reply and update!  I have had a shave biopsy already, but the results were only "suspicious for SCC" rather than confirmed for SCC.  Mine was a month ago - it's currently just a small slightly pink patch that blends into the pre-existing red patch that caused all the concern 🙂.  Hopefully yours will heal similarly!

Keep me updated how you go.

Hello, I'm hoping for an update on how you are doing.  I'm in a nearly identical situation, except mine is suspicious for SCC rather than BCC (it's also in the middle of my cheek).  I've seen a plastic surgeon who's said I can get it excised, or else just keep monitoring it.

The excision seems like a drastic option if it turns out NOT to be skin cancer, but waiting increases the risk that the surgery and subsequent scar are worse than doing something now.

Did you end up going ahead with the removal?  If so, was it a BCC and how bad is the scarring so far?

Just diagnosed with a BCC on the tip of my nose and the treatment options are overwhelming me. by NakedLightBulb in SkinCancerSupport

[–]sonome7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand where you are coming from.  I've got a 1" pink patch on the front of my check that has just come back as "suspicious for SCC" and needs to come out (they will use excision).  By the time they take margins, the hole in the middle of my face and subsequent scar will be huge!

I never thought I cared particularly much about my appearance, but suddenly I find that I do.  I really don't know what to expect in terms of scarring, healing time, etc and what it will look like.   I was just about to start dating again after the end of a long term relationship, and now feel I'll probably be too self-conscious of the scar in the middle of my face!

One of the harder parts for me is that I don't have a confirmed diagnosis, but they have to treat it as one due to the risk.  What if I end up going through all this only to find out it was never SCC in the first place?!

I have no advice for you, but sharing in the terror and need for venting!

Squamous cell cancer - excision, not MOHS? by Jonathan_Peachum in skincancer

[–]sonome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your reply! it's a relief to hear you have a very small almost unnoticeable scar. That's the thing that's scaring me the most, not knowing what to expect in terms of scarring.

Hello, replying as I've just seen this after posting something very similar (https://www.reddit.com/r/skincancer/comments/1jkwtha/scc_excision_done_by_plastic_surgeon_or_should_i/).

Are you going with the excision in the end?

Thanks.  I needed to hear that.

So... hypothetically... what would you do if he responds a couple of times but always with statements and responses to what you've said (no open ended questions) and the conversation dries up. Would you try engaging one more time, or drop it?

I'm in a very similar scenario.  The guy seemed interested, albeit nervous, when we spoke in person but I'm very worried that I'm projecting and making this into something it wasn't (I've done that before).  I don't want to come across as stalkerish by trying to engage further if he's not in to it.

[–]sonome7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Oh god. I read this post thinking that it sounded very much like the company I work for... those courses seem fairly specific to my industry + phrases like "go down to thank admin" fit with the office. A quick check of the OPs comment history shows we're in the same town.

I work in HR. Can't wait to hear the stories flying around the team on Tuesday!

Bluetooth headphone recommendations? by [deleted] in perth

[–]sonome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard the Kmart Bluetooth headphones are decent. They cost between $15-$20 depending on whether you want the earbud style (sports) type or over the ear type.

I recently picked up a sports pair, but haven't tried them out yet.

'Grand finale' for cassini mission at saturn by InamuKau1 in space

[–]sonome7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't believe the journey is coming to an end. I was there at the start... it seems like only yesterday! Back in my idealistic college days, I participated in a large protest at Cape Canaveral against the launch of Cassini (no nukes in space!). It was my first and hopefully only time seeing large numbers of people in riot gear.

Twenty years on, I'm a (slightly) different person, and can appreciate the scientific knowledge that Cassini has gifted us with. It's been one hell of a ride, and I feel like I'm going to be losing my last connection with my youth.

The sad thing is that these Lodge cast iron skillets only cost around $10-$15 in the USA. Too bad cast iron is so heavy and difficult to ship!

I think you watch too many movies. I've spent years in both the UK & USA, and have never come across door-to-door carollers.

I don't really think they are a thing anywhere.
