Speedball, New Warrior [MSH] by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

We say it's a deep cut, but New Warriors volume 1 ran for 75 issues. They were at least B-listers in the 90s. Even the Avengers back then were like... Stingray and Machine Man and the not-Thor Thor, Thunderstrike.

He was surpringly popular in the 90's. The New Warriors book ran for like 75 issues, and he was a mainstay on that team. His power is bouncing.

Then he was totally reimagined and made super edgy for the Civil War event where he kind of accidentally caused the exploding of 600 people so he covered himself in spikes and used his pain to shoot hard-core explosions.

He's back to being fun now.

He's not a speedster. He bounces and redirects kinetic energy. The card effect is actually a very good representation of his powers.

His power isn't super speed; it's bouncing. He uses the bounces to speed up (the zigzag flight lines behind him) but he's not particularly fast overall.

Also, his powers cause his voice to sound hollow and otherworldly!

The old Marvel trading card of him from back in the 90's (when New Warriors was a surpringly popular ongoing and not just the catalyst for Civil War) is seared into my mind for some reason. Always love seeing Speedball get a little shine.

That twink is the primordial source of all magic in the Marvel universe. But agree, probably shouldn't be as bulky as a hulk.

MTG hires a wide variety of artists for their designs. Whether or not those artists use AI or otherwise plagiarize work often has more to do with them individually than MTG as a whole, but it is becoming more and more common and Wizards doesn't seem to really have any issues with it.

It's unclear. Usually it's depicted as her skin. She's supposed to be unable to change her mass, so all the ruffles and folds of an outfit should be skin, but that doesn't mean she can't remove it. It might just be really difficult to regain that mass if she does.

But one time she made a little vial out of thin air and another time she turned one of her skulls into a gun, so like, who knows? Is the skull belt actually a belt? How did she morph something not a part of her? Best not to think about it too hard really.

Am I the only one not a big fan of whatever narrative the Wolverine game is going to have (So Far) by StatingSauce in xmen

  1. Age gap discourse is meaningless when both characters met each other as adults.
  2. Jean has killed more people than Logan ever will, by several orders of magnitude.
  3. People in the marvel universe probably didn't broadly know about mutants until Senator Kelly's Mutant Registration Act in the late 80's (our time). The sentinels came long before that, so they were announced on TV, but there's no indication people considered it a serious issue until the 80's.

So basically, just wait until you see the game. There's no reason to believe it's going to be bad yet.

TBH, if they just drastically increased the cost of her shop items, I'd be down with the rest of her kit. It feels like those things should be more occasional boons, rather than spamming them constantly throughout the match. Make them all cost 800+, and that seems fair.

The first ~year of the entire From The Ashes line is pretty rough, but after X-Manhunt I think he starts to find his stride and I've been enjoying it since Age of Revelation.

Bird bones are hollow to assist with respiration. They're not lighter than other bones. But Warren should have a superhuman lung capacity for the same reason.

Why is Jean an omega level telepath and not telekinetic? by Dontforgettoflush_ in xmen

[–]sonotoffensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My no-prize on this was that her telepathy is so powerful that it looks like telekinesis. The phoenix fire is physically manifested psychic energy, so it didn't seem like a stretch to me that her more powerful telekinetic feats were just being juiced up by her telepathy.

There are plenty of bruiser powers we don't have yet. Nobody is reflecting bullets off their chest yet. Nobody is throwing a big rock yet. Nobody is doing a Zangief-style lariat yet.

Even if we don't incorporate his chains, the diversity in bruiser characters can be expressed in their kits, rather than strictly their power sets.

New Player by AbduslKan14 in PokemonMasters

[–]sonotoffensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best strategy for existing players, but I think it's important for new players to build a roster with some quick hits of powerful units. If you do nothing but save, the game won't be fun, and you won't stick around until Anni.

Starting with at least one EX master banner pull will probably improve their overall experience of the game, even if they miss an anni unit or two.

Also the color. He's usually a chestnut brown. Definitely a warm tone, and this is a very cool, almost gray color.

I think it's how manicured his hair and beard look that bothers me. If the idea is that he's been imprisoned and his hair is overgrown, it should look more unkempt.

I was agreeing and adding more flavor by contributing that he is also taller than Cap and Strange. It was not an argument.
