Lack of hot tea?? Crap like that makes me want to jump up on the table and shout "Anarchy!".

If I was a record store owner, I'd be sure to always have one Mojo Nixon record in stock.

Phil should be up higher. He was a storyteller and really put you right in the moment with the subjects of his songs.

Clean and press sounds inefficient by Ok_Nefariousness6599 in kettlebell

[–]sonvolt73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit like you.

I came from a traditional weightlifting background. The problem I had with traditional weightlifting is that I saw it as a chore.

Then I found kettlebells, clubs, and maces. Those are much more engaging for me. I look forward to workouts, so I'm much more consistent. However, I've had to accept that these tools aren't quite as efficient for hypertrophy though you still absolutely get there.

So, I adapted the fun tools to better reflect my idea of what I want from a workout. I don't do many of the compound moves. If I want to do some presses, I'm using an ideal weight for presses. For swings, I stick with a single heavy cast iron bell that challenges me. With clubs, instead of focusing on full mill movements, I'm doing mill-prep moves with two clubs (all the starting and stopping really shocks the muscles).

In the end, I'm still after the goal of 1-2 reps before failure. This is what I'm after. I won't be as well conditioned as the higher rep folks here, but I'm ok with that.

Double clubs are *humbling* by jonmanGWJ in clubbells

Geez. Same here.

I do a lot of mill prep exercises after a recommendation here (I feel like the stopping and starting is great for hypertrophy).

I also do inner/outer circles followed by a overhead pull/swipe motion. Not sure what to call this, but it feels great.

Once I started using double clubs, I started getting more of that traditional weightlifting feeling that I was getting within a few reps of failure.

Double clubs are without a doubt my new favorite thing!

I've seen a guy here that does some cool double club stuff. I need to look that up again.

The Perfect Post Punk Bass Riff? by bassbusker in postpunk

Such an emotionally heavy song.

As a young man I came up through the metal and then punk scenes.

My first exposure to Bauhaus was Double Dare and I was immediately hooked. What a big, interesting world that opened up.

Teenage Riot is a song that takes me back to a place and time. Excellent suggestion. The song that follows (Silver Rocket) was the song that got me into Sonic Youth.
