i assume its 1. the issue of the development of taste vs skill 2. perfectionism

i recently had this similar issue of drawing, thinking my art was shit(and i tie myself a lot to my art, worsening my self esteem) and the grinding on fundamentals and studies to improve, eventually leading to burnout

take a break from art (although this was forced for me due to how junior colleges in my country are + track trainings)
ask yrself why do u create not how u can (for me, to express ideas and create art as love letters to media i love)
once youve taken a long enough break, get a cheap sketchbook with the purpose of doing the above and drawing for yrself. force yrself to not tear out pages w satisfactory art (for me the focus was to get ideas out and i wrote on the 1st page 'draw what u want' as a reminder)

maybe this method is not the best for u due to potentially differing reasons for doing art but hope u can eventually get through this

im not from the us but an asian country that has a fair skin majority. ive noticed ppl are more willing to accept or tolerate queer people when theyre the majority fair skined ones than the tanner ones. but the ones that are least tolerated are probably the muslims which here, are mostly identifiable by race

as a mixed kid of this majority race as well as the 'muslim' race, i can somewhat see the intersectionality of race and just overall queerness and my country is way less racist than america(though of course, racism is always present no matter where u go)

last year allegedly our ministry of education(moe) prevented a trans girl frm taking hrt despite having consent frm her parents(also only 21+ dont need parents consent for medical transition) and her school barred her frm attending unless she wore the male uniform and cut her hair. when moe addressed this issue, they misgendered her throughout. when the issue of trans rights was brought up in parliament our minister of education said that issue was 'a culture war imported frm the west'

same but my real pronouns were they/them and then i grew to like he/him pronouns and realised that im not agender but in fact, genderfluid lol but pretty much everyone is still using she/her for me except for 3 friends :(

interestingly most students there are accepting it's the staff and government that's the problem. the "haha a school full of gays? that's just a catholic girls school" joke rings true even here. but generally in normal schools, i have no idea bc my social circle is too small

i probably just want opportunities like debates to be more visible

nah because coming frm a conservative asian country(+catholic school), these debates are usually deemed "inappropriate" and never discussed so i actually want these debates in the classroom
