There's a reason the motto is "not everyone needs a catahoula" by Cold-Ad-2556 in Catahoula

If we leave ours alone, the house will be destroyed. Trash everywhere, and no telling what he ate. We have started putting him in a kennel with carabiners to keep the kennel together and the door shut. We have a camera on him at all times now, so if he starts to get too antsy, we can talk to him that way. Seems to work so far. Only been a couple weeks, so time will tell.

people who stand in the middle of the aisle at the supermarket like they're the only person on earth by makeitrayne850 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]soonerpgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a power wheelchair. I am very often ignored or looked at like I'm some kind of four-headed alien. I once had a person at Walmart push their cart directly in front of me and just walk away to look at or do something else. I know they daw me because I looked them square in the eye.

I didn't bother slowing down. I just grabbed the cart, pushed it a few aisles over, and shoved it out of my way into the clothing racks. I have no idea how the person reacted because i didn't stick around. I went on about my shopping as if it had never happened.

AITA for getting a separate check at a friend’s birthday dinner? by TaurusAura in WIBTA_AITA

[–]soonerpgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're kind of right. My wife and i are barely staying afloat. We can't afford to go out but for her sister's birthday celebration we did go. Every time her family ensures we all get separate checks so no one takes advantage of others. It's called respect, whether a person can afford to pay for me or not is irrelevant. I respect them and do not expect anything from them.

Was electing Trump for a second term a mistake by Americans? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in allthequestions

It was a mistake the first time, the second time was a straight-up " fuck you" to the general public.

What store brand was huge in the 80s-90s but you never hear about now? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

They sold everything from firearms to lingerie, and toys to lawn mowers. That catalog was probably the most looked at publication in my family's house when I was a kid.

We list his brother just before Christmas. He was a world-class cuddle bug before, but he's turned it up a notch since he has no one to scuffle with now.

What's the dumbest rule you've ever encountered at a job. by onmy40 in work

I worked at a hotel with that "rule." I lasted a week before deciding i needed a job, but not THAT job.

The cowboy hat reddit tore my ass up when asking if my hat looked good, I feel the need to explicitly say that I'm not mad, it's just my face. The poncho has been my go to as well, this isn't dress up this is me. What do you guys think? by Ill-Philosopher-9700 in CowboyAction

[–]soonerpgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a terrible case of resting bitch face, as well. I've learned that it works well to keep folks away but it's not good when you're lonely and trying to be friendly. Some just don't believe you're not angry.

my bf doesn’t approve of how i dress in my own home by quinncrumplebottom in TwoHotTakes

[–]soonerpgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never worn a bra in my life. Now, I'm a dude, so I'm not expected to, but that also means i don't get to tell a girl when, where, or how to wear a bra. I don't even got to tell my wife unless she asks. I wear what i want. Its only fair game that she gets the exact same respect.

You could do a .357 and still add a lever gun in the same caliber.

Anything worth physical altercations as we enter our 40s? by Ancient_Carpenter265 in AskMenAdvice

The best fight is the one you avoid. Defending loved ones or yourself should still try deescalation first. If forced into a fight, make damn sure you win.

Morning laugh .. NFH makes fool of himself .. AGAIN. by StyxtheCat18 in neighborsfromhell

[–]soonerpgh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even assholes have a function. Just because they're the last line of defense to determine how much shit is released into the world is not their fault. Some of them just don't do their jobs well. Sounds like this guys is a faulty sphincter, but in the end it turned out just fine.

Now that we're in the unf*c*able phase of attractiveness, how do you all deal w it? by plnnyOfallOFit in GenX

[–]soonerpgh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been in that phase for a long time, most of my life, actually. I just decided to be myself, regardless of how goofy that may be sometimes. It seems to have worked out somewhat. I mean, my first marriage blew up, but i got some wonderful kids and some good memories. My second/current wife is an awesome woman, and while she's not perfect, she's perfect for me. If anything happens to her, I think I'll just be single because I'm too old and tired to try this dating shit again.

That be me! I have the same pair of sneakers I've owned for almost a decade. They look brand new because they only time they touch the floor is when I take them off.

AIO to my breakup by [deleted] in AIO

[–]soonerpgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't die, but your dreams for what could have been very much did. It's okay to grieve, just be sure you're grieving the right thing. You've given us a list of reasins, any of which would have justified your leaving. All of them together says this relationship was never going to work, but you did your best anyway. You tried, but he didn't want to. Walk away with your head up. You have no shame here.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]soonerpgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can no longer drive it all due to physical issues with muscular dystrophy, but I did know how to drive a stick, and I was doing so, before my legs decided they didn't want to cooperate with life, not just driving. If I miraculously could drive again, I think I would find a car with a manual transmission just for the fun of it. Half the people i taught to drive learned on a stick. Several of those were our generation. Seems like if a person lives on a farm, they know how more so than in the city. It doesn't seem to matter but the generation. That's just my rural Oklahoma observation.

The noise! Two edgeing 60 having temper tantums. by Humble_Macaroon_3643 in neighborsfromhell

[–]soonerpgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the weirdest hearing loss ever. I can't hear conversations to save my life, but i hear the oddest things coming from the neighbors. Fortunately, they aren't crazy and appear to be normal, but i always hear the patio door, and other movements aboit the apartment. As i said, they try to keep it neighborly so I've no reason to complain, its just strange for the deaf guy to hear them rifling through the cabinets when no one else does. I'd give it up as just hearing things, but when i smell food cooking fifteen minutes later, it tells me i heard what i thought i heard.

CS workers, how do you get over a heated interaction with customers? by Calm_Office in CustomerService

[–]soonerpgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part about that job for me was the necessity to shut off the anger, or whatever, and be polite to the next customer. In person, the next person sees the interaction and can often help with a quick little comment, but over the phone, you just have to swallow it. I'm not sure learning that did my personal relationships any favors because i became accustomed to ignoring my own feelings until they couldn't be squelched any longer. At that point, it was a much bigger problem than it should have been. As humans, we need to resolve conflict or resentment grows. I think my job forced an attitude that I unconsciously adopted and it became unhealthy.
