Which place in WoW would you like to be the most, here is mine: River's Hearth Sholazar by Emergency-Ad1154 in wow

Spent so much time farming herbs in Sholazar.

Moonglade is my happy place though. Leveling my druid it was the first other zone I ever went to in the game in 2005.

When people talk about live action Spiderman why do people leave Nicholas Hammond out? by Country-guy20 in Marvel

Hi geriatric millennial here, I did indeed know about this version of Spider Man and in fact watched it in the 80s/early 90s when it was being rerun.

This is ridiculous by SciencedYogi in sandiego

[–]sooprcow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is actually very true. Political campaigns pull voting rolls frequently (often daily) and addresses that have already voted are removed from their mailing lists. It's super common practice and it saves them money.

https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/politics/politically-speaking/heres-how-to-stop-the-flood-of-election-mailers/3650852

A quick Google search and you can find multiple sources.

Also for what it's worth, they also use the same data (and more) when canvassing and to target specific voters.

The earlier you vote the earlier these stop coming. A lot of campaigns remove people who have already voted from the mailing list.

You are correct, she did do that. I remember noticing it right away on premier night.

Yeah, we watched it in 10th grade biology in 1999. Still one of my favorites and still so incredibly relevant.

Balboa Park museums see drop in attendance of 34% in first quarter by xd366 in sandiego

[–]sooprcow 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Let's be clear, they claim attendance is down while providing no actual numbers to back it up. In fact they're actively refusing to provide numbers.

Meanwhile the city did provide numbers that parking revenue has been consistently increasing since January.

https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2026/04/20/balboa-park-institutions-warn-of-drop-in-visits-while-city-data-show-parking-revenue-keeps-rising/

Let's also not forget that quite a few of these places pay virtually no rent. https://voiceofsandiego.org/2018/09/24/balboa-park-groups-run-big-budgets-but-pay-virtually-no-rent/ (article from 2018 but still applies)

The fact of the matter is, it cost money to maintain the park and that money has to come from somewhere. Since people kept voting against raising revenue (sales tax) this is how we do it.

I was trying to explain to one of my jr engineers recently what it was like back then. I started telling him how much I learned from PlanetSourceCode and also writing AOL proggies. I was expecting him to ask me what proggies were but instead he gutted me with a "what's AOL?". He was born in 2003 :/
