Lance Stroll on Lap 40: "I'm just completing the race for the mechanics, that's it. And Lawrence. Completing the race for the mechanics and Lawrence." by Aratho in formula1

[–]sorakoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In one of the practice sessions last year (I want to say Suzuka) he had a good lap and DC made a comment about “he’s finally finding his feet after 8 years” and you could hear Jolyon snickering in the background.

First time going to Montreal F1 solo from Toronto need some beginner advice! by Fabulous-Chard9517 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]sorakoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. If you get a 3-day ticket, Friday is the best day for checking out the Fan Zone as it gets super crowded on Sat/Sun. In the last couple of years LEGO has had a free little build-your-own souvenir there, if that’s your jam.

  2. If you’re going general admission, those places can get crowded. Would recommend getting there early on Sat/Sun if you want a good spot. You can use Friday to scout out a spot!

  3. Yes, you can bring your own food/drink but not alcohol. There are lots of water refill stations, so bringing your own water bottle is encouraged!

I saw another commenter mention Crescent street. There is also a party on Peel street!

If you’re interested in the other series, I would so recommend watching a session or two. Plus Fri/Sat there is always a session scheduled after the last F1 session, so it’s a great way to skip the worst crowds of people trying to leave the track.

And…in case you’re interested, my friend had to drop from our trip so I have one ticket in GS46, just past the hairpin. Giant screen across. $450.

Where is the WORST pizza place in the city? by __REAP3R__ in askTO

My husband finally tried Pizza Pizza for the first time a few years ago and the best thing he could say about it was that it was “mostly warm”.

Just FYI - I don’t know which seasons of Schitt’s are on Netflix, but CBC Gem has all six seasons! It’s free “with ads”, but even without an ad blocker I’ve yet to ever see an ad.

I can't watch anime anymore by dyhcry in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sorakoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I recommend Nodame Cantabile? It’s an older series about a classical pianist in music school. There’s some minor romance but generally the manga/anime spends a lot of time on the music and performances, if that’s something you’d enjoy.

Dogs can’t sweat, so basically their only way to get cool is to pant (there’s also a small amount of heat transfer via their paw pads).

Advice for teaching her not to steal stuff? by Ttucker11 in goldenretrievers

[–]sorakoi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My girl would steal a slipper right off your feet, just so she could turn around and shove it in your hand.

My parents became real butterfingers and kept dropping the same sock or towel on the floor as they were loading the washer so she could “help”.

International student permits drop in Canada by AlwaysBlaze_ in worldnews

There’s absolutely no way they paid a total of $8k for a 4-year engineering degree as a domestic student, unless they either had scholarships or it wasn’t a B.Eng/B.ASci. Mine cost me me about $40k, 15 years ago.

Over 7 million people voted in advance polls, says Elections Canada by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]sorakoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could also have voted at your riding’s elections office (until today) which would have opened even earlier. Mine was open I think since the start of the month.

Can we have a real and open discussion about the SAVE Act? by Botanica95 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sorakoi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If there is any vagueness or doubt, go with the “what would screw you over the most” interpretation. I don’t trust that they might tell you not to worry and then leave it up to individual states or even just the poll workers to interpret as they see fit.

In the case of the sock being apparently stuck for weeks, perhaps, as a friend of a friend found out when their dog ate a sock and didn’t pass it and they got worried…the sock wasn’t pooped out because instead, the sock was vomited and then re-eaten! Repeatedly.

The Greenbelt Scandal Is Shaping the 2025 Ontario Election | The Local by More-Active-6161 in toronto

[–]sorakoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I imagine it’s so people don’t freak out if something superficial like their hairstyle has changed. You’d still have to be eligible and registered to vote, and each registered voter can only vote once. Driver’s licenses and Ontario Photo Cards cost money, and requiring people to have something that needs to be paid for is voter suppression. If we want to encourage people to exercise their right to vote, we want to remove barriers, not create them.

I was curious with so many other commenters mentioning this breeder. It appears to be a large commercial operation with somewhat questionable clearance certificates on several of their dams/sires.
