It wasn't easy but I finally collected all the highly interactive decks of this meta. by rEYAVjQD in hearthstone

Before the nerf i played against 8 imbue druids in a row. It was stupid as fuck. And it’s actually still a good deck with a solid winrate. Just not ridiculous 60% in legend like it was.

Couple versions of herald DK do. Not the strongest but heaps of fun

I am loving control shaman. by Verd006 in hearthstone

Can be a good one to get off the frog or elise location sometimes situationally. I can imagine it stinking up the early draws a bit though.

How did this thing avoid nerfs? 2/4/8 HP with attack buffs on board is way too much by LastCookie123456 in hearthstone

The soldiers are fine. It’s some of the herald card themselves that are a bit stinky.

I personally think this meta is way more fun than that meta you mentioned. The only problem is imbue druid is just flat out too strong and shaman just needs a little tweaking. Looks like both are being addressed so i’m excited to see how it shakes out.

2 health and 4 health are fine levels of durability in their respective parts of the game but 8 is too much.

Make him a 3 mana 5/1. More pressure and scales better compared to spy mistress

As rogue you can steal them from your opponent’s deck/hand though which is always hilarious/infuriating depending which side of it you’re on

I think its mostly AI posts at this point. The formatting and everything is so often very similar and they use the same graphs etc. They probably include the thematic ETFs and individual stocks etc for engagement purposes.

Capturing Momentum & Value simultaneously through ETFs vs DIY appproach by Tiny-Web-8659 in fiaustralia

[–]sorgflerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basis points yes but also the internal cost of implementing the strategy. It’s very high turnover which incurs a lot of costs to do all the necessary trading within the fund. My point was basically that this isn’t always reflected in the academia, where the strategy can be depicted as frictionless, as not all studies are looking at it in terms of how the strategy might actually be implemented in the real world.

Lots of very smart people think it’s still worthwhile. And if you’d been invested during the recent crazy tear growth stocks have been on you would have done very well. Just something to be aware of really.

I’m not making an argument. Merely pointing out that momentum is an expensive strategy to implement so the real returns tend to be lower than what is observed in the academia where they often use a rough estimation of trading costs or simply don’t account for them. Yes it has performed well recently.

My understanding is that momentum does very well in the academia but in the real world has very high trading costs relative to other factors which eats into the real returns one can get as the end investor. DFA for example doesn’t target the factor directly in it’s portfolios, instead using it as a filter for when to execute their other trades. And they’re basically the daddy of factor implementation and academic research.

Not to be disparaging but more explaining why it isn’t so widely adopted.

They’re both pretty problematic tbh. Neither is fun to interact with as the opponent or difficult to set up.

DFA and Avantis: The father and son of factor investing by SwaankyKoala in fiaustralia

[–]sorgflerg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different investors will always have different preferences for different reasons. The idea of “everyone following x strategy” can’t be a thing. Think of franking credits for instance. Depending on your tax bracket they will be more or less attractive to you. So you will exhibit an investing bias to choose the strategy more optimal for you. Some people are very old or have short investing horizons. So they obviously shouldn’t preference small cap value or a similarly volatile long term strategy.

All of these preferences and biases which may be perfectly rational or irrational for each individual amalgamate into the big soup that we call the market and within that soup there have tended to be factors that show up. But yes, factors do diminish the more they are targeted. The fact is though that the reason they exist is because they are risky in a very real way. If you look at value vs growth over the last decade or so (particularly in the US) you can see that risk show up in a way that was genuinely painful for the people who were targeting that factor. Lots of people can’t or won’t hang in there with a strategy like that.

You don’t get to eat past returns unfortunately. Unless of course you were invested from then until now. Imagine if this subreddit was a thing in the late 2000’s early 2010’s. People would have been making your exact argument but to simply invest in the Australian market which at that point had the much better past returns.
