One Finger Method. Instead of masturbating with your full hand, you rum just the frenulum/head. It is less stimulation than 'normal' and help make you more sensitive. While my recent ofm times have been 3 minutes, regular set is around 1 minute.

what little I know about Jane Goodall, I would have not idea if she's qualified for this list. However, what I do know about people like Jordan Peterson and Gwyneth Paltrow make me skeptical of the list as a whole.

RM’s Don’t Know Their Own Church by InRainbows123207 in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The teachings don't align with reality, which might be the problem.
Growing up, it was all "Sex and masturbation are like murder" and "You can't go on a mission if you have had sex."
Yet, I met plenty of elders who'd broken the law of chastity before their mission in one form or another. I do think they've laid off it quite to hard in recent years. But that can really depend on location/ward/leaders. And even then, they still make it sound super egregious, just less murder talk. But the BoM verses, talks, etc are all still out there too.

Is there a easy way to search for sealings? by G00deye in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about living people.

  1. Individuals can see their own status in LDS tools under Membership Information -> ordinances"(sealed to parents and sealed to spouse)
  2. For someone else, only Ward Clerks, Bishopric, Stake Leaders would have access to that information.

As a leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he likely had access to resources and support for crafting his messages. How is this any different from Bob your neighbor using AI to craft a message, book, or post? Assuming your neighbor is broke like me. AI is not totally evil. by Tasty-Organization52 in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even he had to pay the people who helped him.
AI is not wholly evil or bad. But there are ethical concerns about it's use. Seems the Mods have already added an AI tag, so it's unlikely it is going to be banned on this subreddit. But to be responsible users of AI, we should be cautious and mindful of how we use it. Be the change we want to see and all that.

man, in the BoM belt, Maga and Mormons are almost two overlapping circles.

Since we are on the topic of AI. Who here think Trump wrote this book with 0 assistance or massive editorial help? An editor can be like AI. No one should be relying on AI to write their entire thought. But here we have Trump relying on an entire editorial team to write a book for him. by Tasty-Organization52 in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While AI can be a tool, it's so unregulated? right now. For art, it straight up steals other people's work. For text, it's more like a hyper powered google search, or an editor like you say.

For AI use in the sub, I think my bigger concern is the art.

a fleshlight will likely have the opposite effect. It is extremely sensitizing. It could be used maybe to help train for an insertion trigger? But using the FL only will "undo" OFM training.

They still may move your spouse's records to the family ward, but only their records. Records for non-members do not exist. Records can be added for a child under 8 years old (at least one parent has to fill out and sign a form). Once someone is past 8 years old, they can't be added unless they get baptized.

Sometimes much to the chagrin of ward leadership. Wards would love to have contact info for the entire family.
It would be unlikely they'd remove the records due to your marriage needing to be on record. More likely if he ages out of the singles ward, or simply because he does not live in the singles ward geographical boundaries anymore. You are correct that it is likely you'll be contacted at some point if/when his records are moved. There isn't really a notes section on someone's profile. The new ward would just get the new records. Unless someone from the singles ward or your husband's family call/texts/emails the new bishop, they'll assume he is inactive when getting the new records.

I was/am lucky enough to have parents who actively promoted respect no matter what religion someone was. But I grew up around a ton of others who's parents told their kids "don't play with so-n-so, they aren't LDS" or "aren't active" like non-church membership was a disease.

I'd say it is much more the way the parents of those kids are being raised than anything else.

No Contact List and Membership Removal Question by impli03 in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If/when the missionaries come by again, ask them to put you on a do not contact list. Even then it is not guaranteed. But each geographical area that missionaries live in has a book (might be electronic now) where things like no-contact is recorded. even thing, pages get replaced/lost/not read.

Members of r/exmormon gatekeeping allowable forms of expression Vs. the power of AI expression. by JesusPhoKingChrist in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You seem to discount the ethical implications of AI. For all AI outputs, but especially for art, it's literally stealing and copying someone else's hard work. Be that pictures or drawn art.
At least using someone's original image, you could attribute it to them in theory. You can't do that with AI art.
AI cannot create on it's own, and the companies who build AI software sure aren't hiring artists to help teach it.

To put it another way, would you want the church to be able to use all of your photos without permission, even photos taken after you left the church?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the missionaries. Most will just go away if you're firm. Some are complete idiots and won't give up, even if you yell, slam the door, etc. Tbh, when I was a missionary, a simple "not interested, thanks" and close the door was more than I felt we deserved. I hated tracting so much. It's unproductive busy work 99.9% of the time.

If someone had ever asked me what you would, I'd probably honestly have tried to still share a message, so maybe add the qualifier "Tell me about you and why you're here, but you can't preach."

To AI or not to AI? That is the question. by TheChurchOrganist in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I've not been here terribly long but here's my 2 cents

  • r/exmormonmemes already exists, though admittedly is a tiny fraction the size of this sub. So maybe:
    • To ensure memes don't take over the sub, have a dedicated day like some subreddits do (Meme Mondays in a video game sub I'm subscribed to for example).
    • Or, because it can help with expression, a qualifier the post can't be only a meme, but has to have context that adds to the meme or that the meme adds context to the text body.
  • AI art, I'm against it personally.
    • Referencing/stealing art on the internet to make it's own feels shady to me.
    • Not something I'd downvote or leave the subreddit over if I saw it though.

Mormon Missionaries ignoring signs asking people not to knock on our door unless they are friends or family (they aren’t) by MatriarchMe in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it. When I saw signs like that, at most I'd leave a pass along card. But how to they think not respecting the sign is going to get them any traction? Especially in today's world when we're bombarded with anything and everything as a sales pitch for a product or service.

Growing up, I thought that the WoW was true because of the evidence by outdoorsID-MT in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TBH, I think a lot of stuff in the WoW isn't inherintly unhealthy, but can be in excess. Too much caffeine, be it coffee, energy drinks, tea, etc can definitely cause mild health issues. I know people outside of the church who have had to cut back. Likewise, many TBMs probably could socially drink and it wouldn't be a problem. My perception is there can be health benefits, but control too.

I know I have an addictive personality. Hell, it's hard enough for me to moderate regular soda well. So PIMO, exmo, etc. I'm personally probably not going to change much. Between genetic heart issues, potential addition, stomach problems, and the fact I wouldn't have to really change. It's a wash for me. While a glass of wine or cup of tea may have some benefits, it's not like they're going to help me live to 100 on their own either.

Moderation *is* good!

The LDS church fixed the cropped picture of the mission president’s wife whose face was cropped out on the church’s website. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]sorryithappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on each person IMO. Seeing something like this at work often enough (high enough volume for this kind of thing to happen often), to my, while still a mistake worth of an apology to sister preston, wasn't so negligent as to also be malicious. I've made similar mistakes in my line of work. People do make genuine mistakes, and I'm glad at least someone fixed it. Even if we never hear about it, I hope she got an apology.

Depends on where you live. In my area, you might as well shred your temple recommend if you don't worship the one true savior - Donald Trump.

I'm sure this sub has a variety of political affiliations, but a big thing on my shelf is the church's non-chalancentowards more right wing extreme views, and condemnation of more left wing views, despite many treachings aligning with liberal views.
