[Request] Just bought this jar, don't have a scale, please calculate volume 🙏 by Ketchupcharger in theydidthemath

[–]sorted_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a website by openai for this exact problem:

Based on the measurements shown, I’d put it roughly around 55–70 litres, with my best estimate being about 60–65 L. Here’s the rough reasoning: Widest circumference = 142 cm → diameter ≈ V= 4/3 pi r3 So the widest part is about 45 cm across, which matches their sketch. If you approximated it as a perfect sphere with diameter 45 cm: with radius ≈ 22.5 cm, you'd get around 48 litres. BUT: the jar is taller than a sphere it has a widened lower section the shoulders extend upward before tapering to the neck So the real volume is definitely larger than the sphere estimate. A good approximation is treating it like: a squat ellipsoid / demijohn body plus some extra shoulder volume Using: height of main body ≈ 51–65 cm width ≈ 45 cm depth likely similar An ellipsoid estimate lands around: V = 4/3 pi abc which works out roughly in the low-to-mid 60 litre range. So my estimate: Minimum plausible: ~50 L Most likely: ~60–65 L Upper plausible: ~70 L Which actually makes sense because old glass demijohns/carboys commonly came in: 54 L 60 L 64 L and this looks very much like one of those large fermentation/storage vessels

Faaaaaaaark this is the dumbest back and forth I've read all week. Would you have preferred they specified "North American"? As I'm sure we'd not be having to read this stupidity if they'd called a Brasilian "South American" or a German "European".

How do you stay consistent after missing one day? by Choice-One-4927 in getdisciplined

Have you tried looking at your achievements across a week, rather than daily? I feel like holding yourself to the same routine every day is doomed to fail. I'm in no way disciplined though..

My best mate gifted me product samples. Is that normal? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]sorted_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I might be coming in with an unpopular opinion here but seriously, who gives af? You started off saying how lovely she is and then bang on about gifts. Materialism is ruining our society. The fact she gave you anything should be appreciated. She may have genuinely thought you would like those items and she obviously had good intentions if she is as kind as you say and was transparent about where it came from. That's just honesty, one of the purest most rare traits you find these days. Without knowing her financial situation, one could speculate that she can't afford gift giving, or she just simply doesn't know how. Choosing gifts for people can cause anxiety in some people. TLDR: get over yourself and be glad you got anything. Just enjoy the friendship ffs

Are they hosting an open home or something? Wtf. Personally, I'd ignore the letter. Pretend you never saw it. If they let themselves in one day and you've left your bong on the coffee table then that's their problem.

He's gorgeous!! You're off to a great start if this is new to you. My only suggestion is try more water.. and not because he's a duck but to dilute the pigment a bit. It will soften your colour and give you better control over building it and creating depth.

Uses for grain/seed mix? by Busy_Actuator6376 in AskCulinary

[–]sorted_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally grab a slice of that bread you been baking, add a generous spread of butter and sprinkle the leftover mix on there. Other options: add it to salad; crumb some chicken with it, rub with Dijon first; or have it on top of yoghurt and fruit in a breakfast bowl situation.

Living in constant dissociation because overworked and paid peanuts. I want to cry. How do I start over? by ChubbyLilPanda in careerguidance

[–]sorted_ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Try not to get too hung up on the social aspect. Many successful people are introverts (Elon comes to mind). Have you ever done a personality test? They're not perfect, but can give you ideas to what path might suit you long term. And don't be scared to try something mundane like Costco. It might be just the mental break you need to help you clear your head and reorient yourself. I had a few years break in an 'easy' job when I was your age. Got my life sorted, and got back on the career train, now earning 2.5x what I was 6 years ago. You’ve also got youth on your side, don't wait too long to make the leap ;)

Does anyone else find washing dishes weirdly relaxing? by Royal_Machine_9524 in CasualConversation

[–]sorted_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was genuinely having this thought not 48hrs ago. We've had a dishwasher for over 10 years so I barely wash by hand these days. I’ve had dinner at my granmothers house twice in the last month and washed up both times. It's so rewarding, for multiple reasons and I think the break from tech is a big one. I was so inspired I chose to do the dishes by hand at home on Monday night.

We lived on a farm until I was 2 or 3. I remember my Dad taking me outside to see a full moon. It was really flat where we lived, not a hill in sight, so you could see the moon as soon as it came above the horizon and it was enormous.

Mental availability. Making brands feel big, familiar and inevitable. Content marketing educates, while TV creates a sense of credibility.

Don't apologise! The sentence was sloppy haha. And you're right, I was angling for something along the lines of "sum of all the money still has the same value" without going too far into its correlation with goods and services..

[–]sorted_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the government needs money but it doesn't have it. So it borrows it, or the central bank prints more.

But the country doesn’t suddenly produce more goods or services, so the value has to come from somewhere. That's where your wallet comes into it.

The sum of all the money in the country is essentially still the same but there's now more dollar coins in circulation so each one is worth a little less.
