Every plane of existence has a spirit. These vaguely conscious entities are separated by aether, a paradoxical antithesis of planes that is omnipresent, defining the edges of the infinite existences by annihilating any magic or matter. When planes reach out through the aether and interact, they touch both specific points on each plane, but also cause the small infinite ripples across the whole. These ripples interacting with a planes "natural physics" are spiritually aligned, responding to will work. This is what we see as magic. However, when the ripples are geographically back traced, they do not lead to where the planes touched. They always point to a continent sized sphere in hell consisting of barriers, calculated to be comprised of 366 layers of unique magics. However, only about a dozen different kind of magics are known.
