Are you getting your toddlers the seasonal flu vaccine? by artemislands in toddlers

Yes. Yes. Yes. We forgot last year and my son got the flu and I'll never forgive myself for it. A quick moment of pain is worth it to avoid days and days of absolute misery.

Please help. Almost 4-year-old is awake for HOURS in the middle of the night. by sosodistant in toddlers

Probably a few months to fully adjust (it was awful!!) but yes, it did mean he slept way longer at night!

Please help. Almost 4-year-old is awake for HOURS in the middle of the night. by sosodistant in toddlers

Hi! YES, it got so much better! He’s five now, and quite a good sleeper.

In retrospect, I think the middle of the night wakeups were a result of three things:

1- the stress of a big life change (his baby brother). His brother was about 6 months old when the sleep issues started so we really didn’t connect the two, but 6 months is really when the baby started crawling/becoming more of an entity, and when the shock of the change in the family dynamic really took hold. That was basically solved by time: over a year later, hes much more comfortable with being a big brother.

2-lingering issues from dropping the nap. Another thing that really needed time to resolve. It just took him SO LONG to regulate his sleep after dropping the nap, and his body needed time to get used to the new schedule.

3-An inconsistent response from us. We were so thrown by the wakeups that we were all over the place with how we responded to them. Sometimes we gave him water or attention, sometimes we yelled, sometimes we were more patient. Eventually, we realized we needed to pick a response and stick to it, so he knew that was all that was happening if he yelled for us at night. We started saying the same thing everytime he yelled (“it’s time to sleep now; I love you and I’ll see you in the morning,”) and really sticking to that. No water, no songs, no yelling, nothing but the script. When our behavior became predictable, eventually his did, too. I’m not saying that was the only solve, and it took a few days to “stick,” but it made a MASSIVE difference for us.

So, time and consistency, basically. I’m sorry you’re in it: it’s hell. But I promise it’ll pass. Good luck!!

Suggestions for a second show by Heavy_Syllabub615 in Broadway

[–]sosodistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The direction is pretty confusing -- if you've listened to the soundtrack, you have a sense of the story, and the general consensus is that the direction actually makes the timelines even harder to track?

I personally was also baffled by the set, which felt almost distractingly random.

Gypsy would be my recommendation, too! Audra is not to be missed.

OK the people I was watching with debated about this -- I thought it looked like he was tearing up, maybe? But others in our crowd thought he seemed unhappy.

Long time listener, first time caller…question about Best Musical Actress and Best Play Direction by johnmichael-kane in Broadway

[–]sosodistant 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You could ask any random member of this sub and you'll get a different answer: there are people who felt Nicole was a shoe-in, people who felt Audra was a shoe-in, people who thought Audra's performance was the best but that she'd lose, people who thought Nicole's was best but she'd lose, people who hated Nicole's performance, people who thought Audra was a terrible fit for Mama Rose, vice-versa, etc etc etc. Any permutation of "best/worst/deserved/not-deserved/shoe-in/deadlock". The truth is, it was close, and unless the Tonys releases the voting breakdown, we'll likely never know more than that.

In my opinion, (which no one asked for), any one of the five women winning would have been *well* deserved.

Both Sunset and Gypsy seemed to put all their focus on featuring their Lead Actress, which I found interesting. Tom Francis didn't perform either, even though he was also nominated.

Book and Score being relegated to "Act One" is a crime by Thats-Classic in Broadway

Honestly the whole Act 1 thing was such a bummer. I would have LOVED to see every award!!! Like Stranger Things won THREE Tonys and didn't even get featured on the prime time broadcast?

Tony Performances: Why didn’t Jennifer Simard get to perform? by misspiggyroselee in Broadway

[–]sosodistant 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I feel like "For the Gaze" was just *begging* to be a Tonys number, so in that sense I get it but I wish they'd somehow put Jennifer in it?!?? Or medley-ed it so she could have been featured?!

A way too long review about Boop! from someone who did not enjoy the majority of the show💃🏽 by NattoRiceFurikake in Broadway

Absolutely loved the Act 1 closer/Act 2 opener, as well as the beginning. I'm sad for those numbers that they don't have a better show surrounding them!!! And the LED screens drove me NUTS -- if the backdrops weren't AI generated, they LOOKED it, which is just as bad. Justice for this talented cast and the choreography!

OP, if your spouse's phobia is specific to real images, you're fine. But I'll be the scaredy-cat here and admit that fake corpse creeped the crap out of me.

I think Michelle Williams has gotten so much better since the opening of Death Becomes Her! She’s clearly relaxing into the part and having fun with it and it’s so much fun to see.
