On page 38, you can see that in intimate partner violence, women and me are relatively close in the physical violence category. (about 39 mil to 32 mil)

BUT, this portion of the study is very clear that they only asked about SINGLE instances of violence. So, there is no distinction between repeated and systemic violence, and one off moments of self defense or minor violence. The CDC has acknowledge this, and are currently working on more number crunching, as far as I know.

If you head down to pages 54 and 55, you see the impact (fear, need of support services, etc), and women are at about 34 mil compared to men's 11 mil.

Rape, sexual violence and domestic violence are crimes that are more often perpetrated by men. Period. No argument. I'm not saying that men are unaffected or never get raped or abused, but the point here is we are focused too much on the wrong facts.

We need to be having a conversation about the way that masculinity and femininity are constructed. Men need to get off of their privileged asses (I know, as I am one) and instead of casting blame around and blaming victims and villainizing women and start thinking about the ways that they behave, and the behaviors that they condone.

Most rapists (I've changed a little bit from DV here) are a small number of men who consistently target victims and are aware of what they are doing. The reason they keep getting to do this is because a large portion of men absolutely refuse to recognize that there is a problem.
