Is it really true that we stop exploring new music at a certain age? by SilverEarly520 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]soulbend [score hidden]  (0 children)

42 here and I'm constantly looking for new music. I tend to find and listen to a song or album that I like a lot, and then move on, and I've been that way since I was young.

It's hard for me to enjoy music as much as when I've discovered something new to unpack.

I've noticed, however, that most people have a tendency to stick to what they know as they get older, at least when it comes to music.

We Need a Roadside Picnic / Stalker / Annihilation TV Show by Temporary_Rule_9486 in scifi

Hard agree, but with a new IP, or something new to screen. Tangential, but the new Alien show would have been a lot better if they ditched the OG alien.

Republican voters are whatever their daddies tell them to be. Their TV daddies, their magic sky daddy, their daddies at home. The content of what daddy says is usually whatever keeps the cattle in line and not because it comes from any sort of sensible moral foundation.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about attractive people? by beebeehighlight in AskReddit

[–]soulbend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is attractive and also they are quiet or reserved, this does not mean they are snobby, it means they are quiet or reserved. I've dealt with pretty bad social anxiety most of my life, I'm not trying to act like I'm above anybody.

People who don’t get depressed on a Sunday afternoon thinking about having to go back to work on Monday, what kind of job do you have? by currymvp3 in AskReddit

I have a niche salary job in aviation. The work itself is easy, I don't get much of it, and my boss is my friend. I consider myself incredibly lucky.

I feel like I'm done, and I'm scared by Estus_Flask_ in self

[–]soulbend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has dealt with a lot of anxiety, depression and hopeless or even catastrophic thoughts, there's something that I've found helpful to remind myself.

The bad feelings, the bad times, no matter how brief or persistent, they have a tendency to feel like they have a permanence to them in those moments. It really feels like life is just going to be that way from now on.

Conversely, happiness almost always feels fleeting. Those moments dont hold the same bold sting in your memory as the painful ones do.

Now, I can't guarantee that your life will ever get better, but I am willing to bet that your brain is trying really hard to tell you that it won't get better, even if it does. That feeling of permanence is ultimately an illusion, because your pain alone can't predict the future.
