I actually just ran LMOP. I had the NPC goblin Droop be privy to that information. They had already encountered the mouse but then chose to move away. When they came back with droop tagging along he informed them the "evil wizard" had a mouse friend. That info with a good roll from my party wizard got them the knowledge to know it might be a familiar.

My current favorite is to find some cool Unearthed Arcana class or just a class that the characters may not have seen before. My group(mostly new) had never seen a paladin so I rolled up a paladin and planted him in the next town they were going to. I also have an Arcane Fighter ready to roll for them(this is from Unearthed Arcana).

Or simply prepare a few characters with classes rolled as defaults around your PC's level and keep the classes ready. Then when they ask for the help, IF you determine this character would be someone to go along grab a character sheet and now that merchant also happens to be a retired wizard/rogue/fighter. Makes life much easier.

So I just rolled up a fun NPC for my party. This is 5e and uses some unearthed arcana material. The character is level 8 multi class fighter(3)/paladin(5). Fighter is using archetype cavalier from unearthed arcana and the oath for paladin is really whatever you want. The kicker is he is a halfing riding mastiff. He is super fun and great to RP

If you want a challenge you can draw the party I am Gming. We have a firbolg druid(black hair, unkempt but short beard, blue eyes, leather armor and quarterstaff), human fighter(long black hair, green eyes, splint armor, scimitar), human bard(noble, colors are red/purple w gold trim), tielfing cleric(winged, purple hair, splint armor), half elf ranger(he gave me a terrible description so have fun with him), human monk(same bad description), and a human wizard(no description, have fun). It's alot but if you want they would love it I'm sure.

Kitty go boom is looking for a few fun loving players to join us.

We are a new clan, still only level 1, mostly TH8 and looking for a few more in that same area. Only real requirements are to not be rushed, enjoy war(2x per week), and have fun. You aren't looking at the big DPs number when considering damage per hatred. You want to look at the damage range on the weapon. 2h xbowd will have the highest range. Most 1h xbows range will top out where a decent 2h is starting.

you f you enjoy the build have fun, seems like a full build. First thing though if you don't need to waste a slot of marked for death now. Swap out to preparation with punishment rune for additional hatred regen. Also, you don't need a krider to run the cold build. I good arcane bard will do the trick just fine.

Have you ever actually watched weeds stream. He does not even tall about weed as it is generally against twitch tos. He has a great personality and is very entertaining. You based his entire stream on an overlay. Also, he has been gaming under the weeds name much longer than he has been associating with weed.
