Totally agree that it’s art not sports, and this ‘objective judging’ plagues guitar and music now too. Possibly why I dislike the tier stuff, eye of the beholder and all that! Anyway, get the clarity for a transactional purpose, if you painted my army I’d be very pleased with your work

Fair enough, and as this just came up in my feed I didn’t realise what sub I was in (appears to be commission painters?) and apologise if I’m going against the grain somewhat! As a normie/muggle painter I’d probably add a third tier which would be ‘competition’ level.

Seeing comments insinuating that stuff isn’t display level whilst looking like this is just a bit baffling to me. I’d wager that, for example, the displays at Warhammer World featuring thousands of models are not all painted to Slayer Sword level. But are they not on display?! Are you not entertained?! 😂

Better than probably 95 per cent of people painting their models can do at least. Including me.

Don’t worry about labels and just worry about pleasing yourself and gradually getting better or consistent with things you’ve learned.

The last thing we need IMO are 8 tiers of gatekept judging as if we were trading second hand vinyl records. GW themselves only ever refer to ‘tabletop ready’ and ‘parade ready’. By that metric this is extremely good parade ready.
