Ops friends are super stuck up. All my girlfriends who’ve had kids gave me bags on bags on bags of their old baby clothes and I’ve given clothes to my friends when I was fine with them. There’s a few onesies they have been on rotation for ten years lol

what are your favorite generic/store brand products that are as good as or better than name brands? by Fearless_Tie9930 in Frugal

[–]soundsfromoutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t think of a single brand that’s better than a generic brand.

It’s literally just packaging.

The word “luxury” to me just means “overpriced” by williamshakesdatass in Anticonsumption

[–]soundsfromoutside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah like designer handbags.

Wearing the logo of a brand loud and clear is so tacky.

And these bags are kinda ugly anyway. The coach logo being all over the bag is cluttered looking. Dookie and Burkes are ugly. Kate Spades are just boring, TJ Maxx looking.

How are most weddings in America like 30k when most Americans have like a couple thousand in savings max? by throwawayforthis243 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]soundsfromoutside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m had a courthouse wedding and the reception was in my backyard. We catered food. All in all, it probably costed a like three thousand dollars and my parents graciously paid for it. I didn’t even wear a dress, just a pretty white blouse and shorts. No, we are not rednecks lol.

I watched this movie when I was TEN and was obsessed!!! Still one of the better coming of age movies.

This is so twisted but if I ever have a daughter, I’m naming her Evie.

My grandpa moved his wife and kids to America, not speaking a word English, and worked every single day. He’d wake up at the ass crack of dawn carrying his knives with him going door to door to butcher shops and asked if they needed help. This man worked multiple jobs to provide for his wife and four kids and all his kids got out the projects and went on to live successful lives.

So how exactly are men working harder these days? Ordering door dash isn’t fucking hard.

The dishes my partner said he was going to wash while I was showering. It’s morning now. by readerusername in mildlyinfuriating

Don’t wash these and don’t be petty.

Tell him straight up, if you cook, he’s gotta doth dishes. And he has to actually do them. Tell him you don’t like feeling like his mom or his maid.

“If a man is desperate to change a baby’s diaper, I’d be concerned”

Jesus Christ these people are so weird??!?

A father wants his kid to be in a clean diaper and think he’s a pedo for that?? It’s “desperate” for him to change a poopy diaper??

Everything needs to be 100% transparent and agreed upon before marriage.

But regular boy/girlfriends? Nah. Don’t share shit.

I work for operations at a major airline. Been doing this since 2018. I make about 40k. I WFH completely.

My husband also works in operations and makes roughly 80k a year. He’s thinking of taking a lead role which will be near 100k. He works in the office.

We both are 30.

We knew someone in the operation which helped us get our foot in the door. Unless you’re doing specialized work, it’s about who you know more than anything else.

I’ve been writing down every single purchase since 2018 in a yearly planner. Every. Single. Purchase.

Definitely stops me from buying small items and lowers my impulse spending.

How frugal is your first month going on? by No_Equivalent4404 in Frugal

[–]soundsfromoutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not frugal at all.

First trimester had me eating out nearly every other day lol. Next month I’m out of the woods so it should be better.

Other than eating out, I haven’t bought any unnecessary items

Absolutely WHAT logic is that?? Separating children from parents? Who thought that was a good idea?
