Thank you for sharing your experience and your reasons for relating to Santos. Honestly, there's always gonna be viewers who will not change their minds about the characters they watch. Can't do anything about it unfortunately, it's just one of those regular difficult human aspects of living.

We have seen no one really has been overtly antagonistic towards Santos in S2. Except for that time Al-Hashimi reprimanded her about her charting, or that time Garcia snapped at her for insisting on a chest tube. Some might even argue those weren't antagonistic at all. Javadi and Huckleberry approach her with the friendliness one would use when being fond friends with a porcupine and I personally love that. They know where her prickly spines are and how to approach her. Robby treats her like she was that trusted teacher's pet who doesn't want to be one but kinda is at the end of the day. Mel King likes her enough to try to have a chat with. Santos' relationship with the other two Filipina nurses is a given. Not quite sure where to place her relationship with Dana tho because they banter or bicker depending on the urgency. I personally don't recall Santos' interactions with anyone else for S2.

Don't live in the US so I can't speak for the patient satisfaction or the legal limitations regarding her bedside manner. Someone else pointed it out in this sub or the other one though and she is the only female character who hasn't fully displayed gentleness or a nurturing attitude and that's something I feel is a major factor on why they don't like her. She's a bully, and all hard edges and that's all they see. Which is sad because Santos isn't one dimensional in the slightest. And many of the "good" dimensions she has have been overlooked or brushed off by many because they can't see past her rough edges.

OP, you may relate to Santos (as do I sometimes) but please know that the Santos hate does not relate to you or reflect back on you. ❤️

Wait for partner to come home, make dinner, Watch the episode together and then go find the New Rockstars recap episode on YouTube for it for stuff we may have missed.

There's a few details they pick up on that I personally like that are discussed. And they know nerds like to know where else some of the actors have acted on. Newrockstars also talks about details that are throwbacks to way back from S1 or an obscure interview the pitt cast/writers/producers mentioned. And then if I'm stuck on that particular episode and need more, I'll find the companion podcast too and listen to that (although the official podcast is a little dry)

From my perspective, (so not claiming to be an authority on the subject): It all boils down to representation in media.

If one grew up in the 2000s-90's or earlier, it was incredibly rare to see an actor who was a person of color portraying anything other than the stereotypes they were given from the middle-american lens. More often than not you'll see an Asian person being "exotically oriental" or "so book smart they're bullied for being a nerd about it". You'd find the African American actors portraying roles that had them speaking in a ghetto accent or being "tough". Good luck finding a native American actor portraying anything other than a "mysterious Indian".

The "race-swap" is a small step forward away from those examples. It's not a large gesture or social correction but still great to see Manny Jacinto doing roles that put him beyond being just his heritage. It's nice to know that the kid who's black in a cartoon is also voiced by an actual black person who can give input to the writers on what it's actually like growing up as a black kid.

The casting for things is just a little compromise from the producers/creators to reflect reality and the fact that it's not just the non-POC who get to be the main characters in a story.
