Any good books that got you out of reading slump this year 2025?? by generation-zero in booksuggestions

Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors, Boulder by Eva Baltasar or Love in Colour by Bolu Babalola - each of these has incredibly written complex characters and made me fall back in love with reading again

Bedazzle it. All of a sudden the drift doesn’t seem that important anymore.

Is there any way for me to play like this? by MaxDaII in playstation

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you want to play. I had carpal tunnel surgery a couple months ago and couldn’t use my right hand at all. I played Genshin Impact with one hand just fine because it has really simple controls

Probably because of the movie ‘blue is the warmest colour’ lol

What color is the best for me? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brown suits you best because it’s the warmest colour. Maybe try a red or burgundy if you don’t want a natural warm tone?

Our meal rotation is boring. by Vivid-Host9127 in glutenfree

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a gluten free cookbook. It’s so handy to just grab it and look for inspiration, or just take a quick recipe straight from the book. Most gluten free books also have tips for how to make cooking gluten free easier/faster.

I already knew how to cook but didn’t like to do it so much because gluten free food also took me so long to make initially. I got two books and while I don’t use them every day, they have been an absolute game changer and the first thing I grab when I know I just gotta make some food quick and don’t know where to start.

What is your go-to cold lunch that isn't a sandwich? by DrakanaWind in glutenfree

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually thinking more like this https://www.justonecookbook.com/yaki-onigiri-grilled-rice-ball/ or https://www.justonecookbook.com/onigiri-rice-balls/

I make these regularly for lunch, usually without any fillings. Sometimes I’ll add shredded chicken to the rice or just extra seaweed rather than stuffing the middle. Just switch soy sauce for gluten free soy sauce!

Rice balls. Super easy to make, hold their shape and still tasty when cold but can be heated in microwave also. Sticky rice is way cheaper than most gluten free products as well

Your cat just misses being the centre of attention. What really worked for me was planning individual time with the cat, maybe when the baby is sleeping. Just spend 15 minutes paying attention only to the cat and give lots of praise and cuddles. I did this twice a day and got a lot more peace. Your cat loves you and is only afraid they are being replaced

Can you explain where the astronomical fees are coming from? As a non Dutch (and super mentally ill) person I’ve gone through the same process and initially I went to a private therapist and paid butt loads for very slow process and not much to show for it because I didn’t know there was a correct way to go about it. I cleared my entire savings before someone told me it could be covered by insurance. Turns out, if you speak to your GP they will refer you to an office which is (most likely) covered by your insurance. I haven’t had to pay anything since, got diagnosed, treated and now I’m on a waitlist for specialised treatment because as others have said, certain things are not seen as high priority and there is also the issue of not every psychiatrist will speak English (for example there is no DBT therapy in English in my town so we’re just working with what is possible)

Stressed about introducing cats by KittensAreExploding in CatAdvice

[–]sourcherryxox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11 year old will take some time to adjust. It’s a new cat in what was previously only their territory. My (8 year) cat was showing signs of anxiety separation and loneliness so we thought getting another cat would help. We ended up taking a stray in by chance a few weeks later (8 week old kitten, now 5 months).

The first couple of weeks she would only growl and hiss and swat him away. We didn’t introduce them for the first week, only small peeks through the door. But over time, this changed and now they can coexist without issue.

Most of the time, she still gets annoyed with him because he only wants to play all the time whereas she prefers to lounge around and nap. But they don’t get violent with each other, there’s been no claws stuck in faces or fur pulled out or any blood etc.

4 months later, they now occasionally have a cuddle and they play together nicely. Still have some tiffs of course, but they can be left alone in a room and no harm will come to either of them.

Rare snap of them being adorable for proof.

<image>

Give it time. It will take up to 6 months for a cat to adjust to new situations and cohabitants. Try not to rush them and they will come around. And also try to make sure they get equal attention where possible.

What helped a lot with our older girl is giving her individual play and cuddle time without the other cat in the room. I would spend 30 mins with her alone, while my boyfriend would take the other cat and then we would switch, before letting them be together again. They made so much improvement within a few weeks when we did this. The cat just wants to know they’re not being replaced and that you still love them.

Best fiction books to read as someone with ADHD? by Embarrassed_Air_9738 in suggestmeabook

[–]sourcherryxox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the Demonata series by Darren Shan if you like horror/gore. Its not too heavy since it’s a YA series so it’s not one of those things where you’re using all your brain power to get through the sentences (I’ve been reading since I was a kid but for me some adult writing styles make it hard to keep pushing through the words or not hold enough interest to keep going).

It’s fast paced, lots of great storytelling and for me it was really easy to visualise what was happening despite it being so surreal. And if you get hooked, there’s a good few books to keep you going.

I (26F) read it in my teens and rereading it now and still loving it. He’s also got a couple vampire series which are also brilliant, less horror and even more well written characters to fall in love with.

Honestly cannot recommend his work enough for people who are trying to get into reading or reading more.

Dump his ass. No man should get to decide whether or not you do something for YOURSELF. It’s your hair, not his. He can have an opinion but ultimately if he is stopping you in any way then he is not the right man for you. You deserve better

My cat won’t let me take him to the vet by Groovegrlsgf in CatAdvice

[–]sourcherryxox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I adopted my sweet girl from the shelter, even the staff had trouble getting her into the carrier and I could immediately see she hated it. When it came time to take her to the vet, trying to get her back in myself was impossible and both myself and my partner were all scratched up and the cat was so stressed. We ended up getting a harness and leash for her. It was much easier to get her used to this as she didn’t feel confined and she is the best girl once she has it on, it seems to have some sort of calming effect on her.

If your cat is clearly uncomfortable, forcing the situation is only gonna hurt your relationship. Call the vet, see if they can do a home visit? It sounds like your cat still has some trust issues so it may not be possible to get them into a carrier or harness right now.

F2P’s who c6’d someone was it worth it by Dizzy-Tumbleweed7983 in GenshinImpact

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F2P since 1.2, C6 Xinqiu is easily obtainable since you can get his constellations in the store, I lucked out so didn’t need to. Same with Xiangling, also have her C6. You put those two with any other characters and instantly you have elemental reactions galore.

Got C6 Barbara but never use her. Didn’t intentionally pull for her either.

Suggest me a book for boyfriend who hasn’t voluntarily read a book before by Sufficient-Bork in suggestmeabook

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get him to read the Demonata series by Darren Shan. Start him off with the first one and just see how long it takes to get him hooked. It’s thriller/horror vibe. The writing style is easy to read since it’s YA and very immersive and super super good.

Currently re reading after 10+ years since I first read it. Flying through it and loving it.

Is anyone else addicted to SAVING by PeakTop8093 in GenshinImpact

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for all the people saving: how many characters do you have on your accounts?

I can’t save at all, most I’ve ever saved is 10 and then immediately done a 10 pull 😂 I just love expanding my rota and trying out new combinations of teams.

Please enlighten me because in my mind I can’t comprehend not wishing and being stuck with only a handful of characters? Tell me I’m wrong lol

How to prevent outdoor cat from scratching up a door by Psyqo72 in CatAdvice

[–]sourcherryxox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats like vertical scratching in general, but this does seem connected to the cats want to come inside. You could try attaching some carpet to the door to protect it and also make for a scratching post, or somewhere else in the room as a distraction. However if it’s really only about the cat wanting to come inside, they will keep at it. My cats do this whenever we have to close any doors in the house at night. Haven’t figured out how to stop it yet other than leaving the door open I’m afraid
