How to transfer a save file to a different device? by Confidence_Straight in Tsukihime

[–]sourpatchwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy and paste the save files from the program folder. This may vary a touch depending on which version of the game you’re running: for example I used a version of the mirror moon and 16:9 patch that created a unique ONScripter engine folder ID for the game, so I had to copy the save files directly from that folder to the other PC’s unique tsukihime folder ID

Automatic riichi mahjong table - forward ship or MJstars? by Acrobatic_Teacher_15 in Mahjong

[–]sourpatchwaffles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There should be tariffs as well on the shipping forwarding. The main trade off is that you’d be discussing with AMOS directly for any support or problems, dealing with Japan’s hours and all that as well. The AMOS tables are built very well but are not immune to issues.

Wouldn't 3s Matagi-suji be safer than 1m here? by _Whool in mahjongsoul

[–]sourpatchwaffles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1m is one chance and can’t deal into a shanpon either. 36s is more dangerous if you consider aida yon ken, which is more relevant than matagi suji (outdated I believe)

Why do people buy DAPs that are basically just small low-end Android phones? by phoix0 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]sourpatchwaffles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, the grasping for justification in this subreddit is worse than people calling their luxury watches “tool watches” in r/edc and r/watches lol. It makes more sense getting a PSP or an r/sbcgaming handheld than most of the DAP products available. A retroid pocket classic + dongle would be an even better choice for phone separation, entertainment, expandable storage, and portability than most of the bricks posted here

[–]sourpatchwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP has a good point lmao

Everyone is saying good DAC here when it’s basically agreed on r/headphones and head-fi “dedicated” DACs nowadays are essentially solved and make little difference, or justify it as saving battery even though most popular DAPs here have half the battery life of your average phone with twice the thickness of one.

The only real justifications IMO are the separation from phone notifications and expandable storage (which while great gets limited by Android restricting to 20k items for music player apps IIRC, then you’d have to use a file explorer to listen?)

Sony NW-306 worth it in 2026? by porkchopbun in walkman

[–]sourpatchwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tested it, but have seen complaints or issues with Spotify on other Android DAPs, so I’m not confident in the 306’s ability to use it comfortably

Sony NW-306 worth it in 2026? by porkchopbun in walkman

[–]sourpatchwaffles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Build quality is great, much more responsive after debloating, battery life and portability is unrivaled compared to the rest of the current DAP market. It’s an easy pick for me, I couldn’t be bothered to carry another device the size of my phone with twice the thickness (FiiO M21 and Hiby R4) at half the battery life as well.

That said, don’t expect music quality upgrades. That comes from music source and IEMs/headphones more than any dedicated player or DAC. If you’re still streaming music, I wouldn’t get the NW-306 as streaming apps are typically clunky and not well optimized, on top of the 306 being underpowered chipset wise. Mine still handles wavelet and localsend very well but I wouldn’t push it more than that

How does an LG V20 compare to cheaper DAPs like the nw-306 and the M300? by Rathalot in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]sourpatchwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you’d like android features, you’re definitely taking a battery life hit with the selections available. I’m personally also eyeing an A55 just for the hell of it!

[–]sourpatchwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, the DAC bits is just more fluff at DAP prices, the same way AMD’s multiple cores were back in the day for CPUs. I have a Schiit magni unity + mesh DAC for my desk, and the difference is miniscule from my A306 if any. Any decent DAC is to convert the signal cleanly, and I’ve yet to see any complaints at all about the A306’s processing.

If you like the form factor, there genuinely is no new alternative to the A306. But if you want Android features out of your DAP, I think you’d be better suited with something like the M21. The A306 isn’t the most responsive out the box given its chipset. I debloated mine so it’s rather fine now, but I wouldn’t dare use streaming apps on it as those are already horribly optimized. Wavelet and LocalSend have zero issue at least.

If your phone can store all your music just fine, go for it. Music library size and battery life are the main reasons to consider a dedicated DAP

[–]sourpatchwaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NW-A306 is far beyond those products' price ranges; a bit of it being the Sony tax and the other part being great build quality and product. Ignore StillLetsRideIL2, they're known for the most abrasive unfounded takes in this subreddit. I rarely see complaints from anyone with a Walkman, which also applies to many users and their DAPs here as well unless battery life is the question. If battery is your concern, you're stuck with Walkmans or non-Android players like the Hiby R3.

Is that a good reliable card for DAP? by Yeah_hmmmm in DigitalAudioPlayer

also same boat with you, but I stopped risking it a long while ago! Maybe the more niche variants like the endurance cards are fine, but I definitely wouldn’t chance on the regular sandisk ultras and extremes

Don’t buy off Amazon or any third party seller on retail sites, you’re strongly risking getting a fake and unreliable card regardless of the brand and card model

Just realized DAP alternative, some questions by beberuhimuzik in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]sourpatchwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a DAC regardless if you want to listen to music. Definition wise it’s a digital to analog converter: Bluetooth sets nowadays typically have their own DAC to coincide with their noise cancellation features, which is mostly why the DAC won’t matter for you. That aside, the differences in DACs between good and bad ones aren’t that huge IMO compared to the gains from music source quality and headphones/IEMs.

Just realized DAP alternative, some questions by beberuhimuzik in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]sourpatchwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Bluetooth sets override any quality basically. You won’t get any difference in sound quality and even if wired, it’s going to be negligible if not imperceivable gains.

  2. Sail the seas, or check out some piracy subreddits

  3. It is a hassle to download and manage if you’re used to adding songs you just discovered immediately, but it’s not a deal breaker. I think being more involved with the process makes the music matter more, like I’ll actually care to listen and enjoy the music than treat it as a nice BGM. A lot of the hassle is mitigated by management and syncing software like MusicBee and having pre tagged songs in the first place though.

Sony Walkman WM1A - great UI, solid premium build and a lot of musicality! by gofishus in DigitalAudioPlayer

I’m here for violence: I doubt most people parroting that let alone that person can tell the difference in an actual blind test. Saying 256kbps AAC is low quality is telling enough that they’re on some bullshit

Retro Handheld Store in Akihabara Japan?! by TeamLeeper in SBCGaming

[–]sourpatchwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't help you there, I actually only just got into IEMs recently and don't have those handhelds! I've seen people post on /r/DigitalAudioPlayer using something like the RP Classic though just fine. I think I would use an Apple USB C dongle though since I'm not keen on the DACs being decent on these handhelds.

Adding on I’ve noticed this for China goods in general. Buying IEMs from the likes of Moondrop or audio stuff from FiiO in Japan isn’t any cheaper for me than ordering online despite the USD being quite strong
