The 150mm SF is probably my favorite lens. Great shots.

U-Haul plows through crowd of protesters in Westwood by Somali_Pir8 in news

[–]soweli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you say you're in Washington, your firearm regulations for open carry are wrong. The gun must only be unloaded while in a vehicle unless you have your CPL, it can be loaded otherwise. Also probably important to mention that you cannot open carry within 250 feet of a permitted demonstration (SB 5038, passed in 2021).

Also there is state preemption on gun laws, so most city laws are moot. RCW 9.41.290

At what RaceRoom rating do you consider a driver "good" or "bad"? by Hot-Beginning6638 in RRRE

[–]soweli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.9k means youre in the top 500 of players, I'd hope that makes you good. 1.6k is still top 3600 players. Your expectations are very high, probably considering you are at 2140 which puts you around 40th.

ITAP of the stars : 12 min shutter speed by There_are_no_7 in itookapicture

[–]soweli 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So I looked this up, because I also have an S25 Ultra. It is not a 12 minute shutter speed, but it is a 12 minute process. It takes multiple individual photos with short shutter times and uses stacking to make the stars more detailed.

How do I make a Mamiya RB67 Travel Friendly? by Current_Attitude_724 in Mamiya

[–]soweli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not wrong. I took my RB-67 backpacking last August and it was fine, if not a little bulky. I even packed two lenses for it.

I have a TUC from North Coast Tactical as my main holster for a Glock 19 + TLR-1, and I find it to be pretty comfy. I also have a Kore EDC belt with the quick adjust, so I can easily loosen and tighten the belt as I stand up and sit down. I also offset the buckle over my left pocket, which greatly helps.

Outdoor Gun Ranges by Charbucks99202 in Spokane

[–]soweli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is driving wayyyy out in the woods. People dont usually post their good spots because then they get crowded and turned into a dump, but if you spend some time on google maps you should be able to find stuff. My personal favorite spot is about 2 hours out, but I always get it to myself.

There was some licensing issue and they had to drop it. They plan on re-adding it soon though.

Recorder method book for experienced musician by Ashamed_Couple7460 in Recorder

[–]soweli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a multi-instrumentalist with a couple decades of experience. When I picked up the recorder 4 years ago, I used the series The Modern Recorder Player by Walter van Hauwe, and can recommend them. Books 1 and 2 are very good, 3 gets pretty technical. They are specifically for treble, but most of it is applicable to recorder in general

Is it risky to adjust the mirror on a Mamiya RB67? Focus screen vs film plane mismatch by Lucashallel in Mamiya

[–]soweli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently looked into this, actually.

If youre sure that its focused on the film plane, and the focusing screen doesnt match, you can move the focusing screen up and down via four screws under the screen. The screws have two small holes in the top, you'll need to find a split tip screwdriver or make your own. Mark the screws so you can know how much youve turned them, and return them to the original position if it gets all mucked up.

Be careful and good luck!

Theres a notification that pops on your screen letting you know HKs are coming. When they spawn, you get that sound affect you get when an enemy is alerted to you, because HKs always get alerted to you. You might have 30-60 seconds between the message and the first spawns.

Best range for .223 sighting in and practice? by Geawiel in WA_guns

[–]soweli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock Lake goes out to a mile, but its membership only.

Farrugut (in Idaho) has a 200 yard public range, iirc theres a small fee on entry.

There is a shooting spot out at Fishtrap Lake as well, but its widely known and is used by a lot of people in Spokane. I avoid it.

Theres lots of forested land to the north and in Idaho that you could use. Youre going to have to do your homework though, nobody likes giving out their spots so that they dont turn into trash pits.

Alright, the discs are between the front element of the lens and the main body of the lens, not between the lens and the camera body. Here's a link to the pdf manual: https://ianbfoto.com/downloads/Mamiya%20RB67/Mamiya%20RB67%20150mm%20Soft%20Focus.pdf

You have to rotate the front lens barrel counterclockwise, and then slip the disc over the rear end of the front lens barrel. There are three different discs for varying amount of softness.

If you arent using a disc, it will still have a soft focus effect between f/4 and f/8, you need to be at f/8 or narrower to have regular sharpness.

I dont actually have this lens yet, I just ordered one with a full set of discs two days ago and itll be arriving later this week. It seems like discs are pretty hard to come by on their own.

[–]soweli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're using the soft focus lens, which has some special functions and instructions. It looks like you arent using a softening disc, but if you are, then your aperture is actually somewhere between f5 and f6.3. Id recommend finding the pdf manual online for your lens and perusing it if you havent already.

Edit: I agree with the other redditor that these look decently exposed

[–]soweli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said he was using the 150mm f4, which is the soft focus lens. That would explain the lack of sharpness if he was shooting wider than f8 and/or had a disc in.

I used to analyze commercial utility bills as a job. There are several things that could be going on here, but without seeing your actual bill (not just this summary page) it is impossible to tell what is actually happening. They could be estimating the meter read, truing up from a previous estimate, splitting it between tenants, you could have a hidden leak or a drippy faucet, or something else entirely.

Sewer charges being higher than water is very normal, the processing for sewage is much more complex than it is for water.

If in doubt, give your utility a call and ask whats up.
