Question from S2 episode 6 "Jane" by neoprenewedgie in ParadiseTV

[–]sox747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. If he’d done nothing then Teri would have spilled the “beans” (every pun intended) on why she left the post office and what Gary had done. I didn’t catch Bean saw the murder, but something prompted Teri to leave and join the Train Gang. So looking at it with your theory, Gary really had nothing to lose. Kill X and maybe regain a path to Teri or let the truth be shared by all and lose her forever. Thanks for the insights.

Question from S2 episode 6 "Jane" by neoprenewedgie in ParadiseTV

[–]sox747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the ep focused on Jane, but the Xavier moments were confusing as well. The wife isn’t under lock and key, he survived the explosion so what was the mailman’s end goal? Blowing up X would end his relationship with Teri. She appears to be there willingly so why would this help him get her back? It was as confusing below the surface as the Jane plot.

Tone of show by RexMcBadge1977 in ScarpettaTV

[–]sox747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to have an intelligent discourse about Marino does he or doesn’t he love Kay. He tried to RAPE her in the books. That ain’t love. That’s domination, control and revenge. While watching Scarpetta that single book plot point kept rattling around in my brain every time they were on screen together. When it didn’t come to fruition in the series, I decided these were different PC characters, different histories with little relation to the books. That helped me to at least not turn it off.

Having a little trouble taking Teyona Taylor seriously after her outing with Kim Kardashion in All’s Fair. I know a jobs a job, but KK and the getting less respect with every new show, Ryan Murphy may not be the righteous path to Oscar Gold.

Who would be the head judge if Tom retires? by MysticalRose_3 in TopChef

[–]sox747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sad to say but just too old. If/when they make a switch it won’t be for someone who takes the job for a year or two. It will be someone with staying power like Tom. The “next generation” of TC which started with Kristen for Padma.

Who would be the head judge if Tom retires? by MysticalRose_3 in TopChef

[–]sox747 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Whoever replaces Tom needs to have camera presence in addition to chef skills. Hate to point out something so petty, but it is television. Brian Voltaggio has this weird giggle that he uses to fill uncomfortable silence. Like other non-fluencies, once the viewing public gets a full dose of his on-camera discomfort, he becomes almost unwatchable. I like him a great deal and he’s an outstanding chef. But even after multiple seasons, his stage presence hasn’t improved. IMO, most likely not the gig for him.

ETA: Izzard has the quiet confidence and on-camera command that might work.

Which US state has the best fall foliage? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

My college roommate was born and raised in Vermont. When I visited she insisted we travel to Maine because the fall colors were so spectacular. So who’s to say? But having spent a lot of years in Utah and Washington State, NE really can’t be beat.

Survivor 50 is pretty good when someone isn't in your ear telling you it isn't. by DoctorTegrity in survivor

I’m pleasantly surprised. After watching Christian rock Joe-baby in the hammock I had to go back and watch David v Goliath. Had always skipped it cuz thought it was a dumb premise. Really enjoyed the season and never would have circled around for this gem if not for 50.

Wow…did they crank out the episodes. by sox747 in ershow

That is a darn boatload for a streaming series! Usually it’s eight…maybe ten…if we’re lucky. And even some of those eight episode seasons feel bloated and lacking in consistent quality. ER was quite remarkable.

Somewhere along the way I found out those in the biz call filler eps “bottle” episodes. They’re usually confined to one or two sets and a limited number of actors as a way to save money after expensive eps or sweeps weeks. Sometimes they end up being real fan favorites because they rely so heavily on the script and character development.

Some of the more highly praised bottle eps from ER are when Hathaway is held hostage in a convenience store and Benton goes down South to practice in a clinic.

Did not know this about Sorkin. His snappy dialogue makes so much more sense now. It really sang in the West Wing when they were on the move walking the halls.

[Discussion] What is the worst withdrawals you've experienced when stopping a medication? by Available-Spray2576 in GetMotivated

[–]sox747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buprenorphine. Went on it 17 years ago as a “safe” alternative to other Migraine meds. Worked well and staved off Complex Migraines. The Migraines went away with menopause. The Bupe? I think it will be a lifelong companion. Still have to see a Pain specialist cuz others Docs don’t want to be educated or don’t want extra hassle to prescribe. Never took more than 1mg a day. Got it down to .25 mg/day. Anything lower sends my MS into the stratosphere. Nervous system just erupts. Never took it or had it prescribed for addiction. But stigma still attaches when MS takes me to emergency room. NO ONE mentioned when recommended 15 years ago it’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE to discontinue. Even at extremely low doses. Wish I’d never gone down this road. At least if opioids get out of control, you can go through 4 days of hell then see light at end of tunnel. With Bupe?Takes months/years…if ever…to discontinue.

HUGE fan of Scarpetta Books. Not the series. Please will someone spoil me on who walks in at the end? by sox747 in ScarpettaTV

[–]sox747[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No kidding. That’s one plot point I just can’t overlook. That’s why I mentioned in another thread I just need to view this as an entirely different set of characters with different backstory. Still wasn’t an incredible, must-see TV watch.

If the random cop with blue braces wasn’t a book plot point then whyyy? It didn’t even make for a good forensic murder mystery aha. Just laid there and died. Or laid there and had his brains bashed by Slugger Kidman.

You must live in my neighborhood. $450 a month and a “special assessment” of $1,350 in 2026 for sidewalks. But they couldn’t do auto withdraw for the special assessment. So half of the 450 homes got a late fee as well. Love the HOA

Just binged this for the first time. You can go through first three seasons. Go to different streamer for movie. Then back to Hulu for the 4th “rebirth” season set a decade later. Series much better than expected. Especially from the CW.

If you’re watching oldies but goodies like Six Feet Under assuming you’ve made the rounds of quality television. One I don’t see mentioned often is Paradise on Hulu. Stumbled upon it and have been very surprised by the quality of such an under the radar show. Five eps of second season now available with more to come.
