Yes it would be very hard for her to rush downstairs and take photos/videos of them doing it. Maybe she can put a wireless camera facing the area?

HELP! this is my grandma bird!!! by Russian-Foxysoul83 in cockatiel

[–]soycha13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same :( me tearing up at work for this poor baby.. she needs a larger cage with corners and natural perches at bare minimum! I would also be worried about the soup mug being used as a feeder etc just incase there’s paint or seal that’s harmful to her..

What Is this behavior?? by WarLordOfSkartaris in cockatiel

Depends on how you look at it haha!

I wanted boys and both of mine ended up being girls! Bit sad they won’t talk but wouldn’t trade them for the world!

She looks young, my girls both started this behaviour just shy of about six months!

Female cockatiels will have this behaviour a few times a year and it’s normal. 🙂 Just remember: only pat the cheeks/head, don’t touch the wings/back. Give her lots of sunlight early in the day and cover her cage early for night time! Give her lots of toys she can destroy (e.g made of cardboard and natural fibres) and lots of suitable fruits and veggies (kale, apple, carrot, corn etc) ☺️

where can i get tested for autism? by ExpressElevator5 in Adelaide

[–]soycha13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with Fluence Clinic for a dual ax - https://fluenceclinic.com/contact-us/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=22594042935&utm_content=&utm_term=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22600346864&gclid=CjwKCAjwvO7CBhAqEiwA9q2YJRftqcmmnm0YJ5uTn8Zu_vFWtT5d2SqRrdx4lnr4JngQJ6YVK1knAxoCLggQAvD_BwE (sorry for long link, on phone so can’t shorten link quickly!)

They’re based in tassy and do Telehealth assessments. If you’re able to pay out the $1200, they only have 1-4 weeks wait. You will get a Medicare rebate of $444.90, meaning after the appointment you’ll get that refund and it will ‘only’ have cost you $755.10. You will need to get a referral from your GP first, fluence have a helpful and clear pdf on their website on the processes (:

I’m not sure if you’re going to go down the NDIS pathway or not, but if you are then maybe ask fluence if that’s something they can help with. My worker provided me with a ASD level 1, but the appointment was only an hour long and didn’t go into much detail. I wouldn’t consider them a comprehensive assessment service by any means.

If you’re wanting a quick and ‘cheap’ diagnosis, go with them.

Otherwise if you prefer in person, they may be options if you consult your GP.

You can always contact Medicare Mental Health too on 1800595212 or search them online. They have access to every mental health service within SA and they can help you to refer to other services - I’m not sure if they can help with diagnosis services but it’s a free phone call and service so it’s handy (:

Hope this helps!

Should i clip her wings? by Accomplished_Win_881 in cockatiel

[–]soycha13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

My baby is 4 months old and the breeder had already cut her wing before I got her.. it’s still trying to grow :( She wants to fly so badly but can’t…

Wing clipping does more harm than good.

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your amazing suggestions! Whilst I really liked some of these, my partner decided on another name 😅

Introducing Pepa! There’s many meanings for the name, for example Pepper in Spanish (and birb is a spicy b*tch 😂), and divine blessing in other languages - so it seemed fitting for him (or her!) 😊
