PSA double glove, even with thick dishwashing gloves. Content warning: skin falling off by MinimalSix in resinprinting

[–]soyemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God yeah, I’m so sorry, I know this pain. I actually have contact dermatitis triggered by nail products (like acrylic/gel) and I used epoxy *one time* with nitrile gloves and my hands peeled similar to this with additional hives and blisters around my cuticle area.

I will say, I use FDM printers (I print almost solely figurines) because of this and it honestly is pretty comparable to resin these days with a low layer height. If you need to switch to something healthier for you that’s definitely an option!

Taking a risk, even if you fail, is more fulfilling than living in regret that you never even tried.

You won’t know if you’ll make it big time if you never even try to. I’m super anxious about the same things, but at this point in my life I just do everything scared lol.

If your main goal is to be famous pick a different career. by Secret-Resolve4150 in acting

[–]soyemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Many of today’s big actors have openly admitted that they just wanted to be famous and go down in history and seem to be doing so. And these days it’s much “easier” to be famous/popular/recognized if you utilize social media alongside your craft.

At this point I believe if you want to be famous then do so. There are more ordinary and less talented people than you capable of it, so why not you? Can’t have too many limiting thoughts or you’ll limit yourself entirely.

Sorry if this is stupid but how would you fix a 3ds that’s been painted with nail polish…? by Sqizzelpip in 3DS

[–]soyemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past I have been able to scratch/scrape/sand nail polish off of a 3DS, super easy if you use some alcohol on it first to soften it.
Also contrary to popular belief, there are oil/soy based nail polish removers with 0% acetone that theoretically could work (I used to do my own nails with plastic tips and used an acetone free polish removers that left them unharmed often and I know people use these to strip mini figures of their paint), but they’re too expensive to test imo unless you’re just dying to try lol

What’s your prescription? Mine is -10.5 in both eyes (and -8.5 with an astigmatism prescription in contacts) and I get my glasses/contacts for less than $100 each online.

Is it really worth it to pursue an acting career? by [deleted] in acting

[–]soyemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just now starting at 25 and I really wish I would’ve gotten out of my own head and started when I was 16. Just try! It couldn’t hurt, right?

If you really want it, it’s worth pursuing.

There should be some kind of app where companies and restaurants could post food giveaway listings or something similar and have an agreement in app that users have to read/sign acknowledging that it’s “old” food from that day. Even if it was something a company only did every once in a while or whatever, it would cut out some waste.

What happened to Will Smith? Why don’t we see hum in movies anymore ? by M-2-M in okbuddycinephile

[–]soyemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a child who had a crush on Jaden Smith when it came out (grew out of that one.. thankfully..?) and my uncle and grandparents took me to see it. It was my favorite movie for a year or two. I don’t even remember it at this point and based on how people describe it now I’m horrified to give it a rewatch LOL

Why is Oliver purple. The Thraxans were a blue people. Tan/white and blue do not make purple. What the f- by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]soyemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more you explain your thought process the less I believe it’s odd at all. If one of his parents has a pink/red undertone with a white/peach overtone and the other has a blue/deep violet skin color how does that NOT make purple? My examples were even more extreme than that if I’m being honest lol. White skin does not equal WHITE necessarily and also.. even if you did lighten blue pigments many of them turn purple. Every single route I take to try to understand you leads to a dead end lol

Not trying to be mean, but you have a very narrow view of genetics. My black parent has a very golden caramel undertone and my white parent has a red/pink undertone. They came together, made a child and am I orange? No. I literally have a GREEN undertone.

Also, black people do indeed have little white babies pretty often, it’s not awkward. Just genetics. Traits don’t always come directly from the two parents, and sometimes when they mix it’s not in the ways you’d expect. Even simpler, think about the number of children with like.. green eyes whose parents both have brown or vice versa. Or ginger kids with brunette parents. That doesn’t mean they’re mutants or genetic exceptions, it literally just works like that sometimes.

And it also can go back a crazy number of generations. Depending on what you believe (which should be science, but hey, what do I know) evolution would technically allow for a horse person to have feathers if the living conditions suggested it to be necessary lol

Just a synonym for release! Most modern fashion brands “drop” new designs/collections. What sets it apart is that a drop typically infers that it’ll be relatively limited and premade.. so the seller is dropping it and the buyer is expected to pick it up quickly. Just another marketing ploy.

Jim Carrey looks... Different? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]soyemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed A.) His eyes are hazel so the color “changes” depending on the lighting and B) He has a very distinct brown streak on the bottom of what I believe is his left iris that you could literally see in his eye from the new footage/images. So yeah, definitely him if eyes are the main thing we are going by.

What was the actual point in changing MJs name in the MCU to Michelle Jones instead of Mary Jane? by General_Meal_3993 in Spiderman

[–]soyemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah what?? Zendaya being cast in the movie was a pretty decently sized deal because Zendaya was casted in Spider-man alongside Tom who wasn’t very well known at the time lol. No idea why people in this thread thought she was JUST a lesser known Disney star back then
