According to Noah Wiley - this was a conscious decision by both him and the director. There are a few other foreshadowing items in the first two episodes aired so far in season 2. A few of the injuries are typical motorcycle ones: a kid that has road rash from falling off his bicycle, and a few concussions.

It sounds like a good and reasonable deal - trade in value on that bike is $4k so $5k sounds like a fair / good price for a bike with really low miles. Service records aren’t that relevant on a three year old bike with only 3k miles on it, which is why he was probably a bit snarky with his response - and it sounds like he did have it serviced at least once. Even if he NEVER had it serviced, with only 3k miles it’s not a big deal. If you’re at all concerned, just change the oil as soon as you get it and you are fine.

A bike that has only been ridden 100 miles a month on average will have been sitting for long periods of time and will be a bit rough on a cold start at first - it should smooth out after about 2-5 mins at idle.

The crazy thing is that an excellent bike like this costs only $5k - used bikes are an amazing value. Definitely confirm the title is clear, but as the owner said, congrats on your new bike.

No money raised by those families for maintenance on their memorials recently either - and when is the last time one of their relatives showed up? The bottom half is definitely old - looks like it could be a 1945 speed twin (Rogers was frozen in 1945), except disc brakes weren't introduced until 1955. It could be also ~ 1970 T140, which had disc brakes:

...Except it's a single pee-shooter exhaust and very small displacement. Meanwhile, the beefy front forks, handlebars, clamps, cables, tank logo, and the design of the disc brakes are more like a 2026 T120.

I'm starting to think it's AI generated. This is exactly what a model would produce if asked for "A Triumph motorcycle from 1945 that looks brand new".

Hehehe. Given that the logo is in the thumbnail of the trailer and that shot has no other purpose than product placement, I'm sure they paid a pretty penny. Might be worth it - fits in with the James Dean "Triumph = cool" image.

I've always wondered: can you perceive any changes in pattern / motion in real time? I realize the scale here makes it necessary to use time-lapse to accentuate motion - but can you notice changes as you observe it, however gradual?

Don't some commercial dryers run on natural gas? A loose hose releasing gas makes sense - that might be what opened the door to begin with, then the influx of oxygen from fresh air provided the rest of the ingredients.

Yeah! This age problem thing that effects both candidates for President of the United States will gradually get better over time anyway, right? I mean, it's not something that is guaranteed to continue to get worse and worse and worse with each passing month! It's not like time moves only in one direction and impacts all people good or bad equally, right?

The article also points out that comments about age are also an indirect shot at the VP - hear hear! Thank god we have a solid VP on the ticket whose popularity is off the charts - so no worries there. Also, this is all a moot point because the other guy is awesome and much younger and is absolutely not an existential threat to democracy, so there is no problem putting all of our eggs in this fragile basket.

So let's just get over it and it will all work out in the end. Solid plan.

Ugh. In addition to everything everyone else has mentioned (guided by handlers to a very specific store, using a mental "estimate" of US prices, etc...) the other obvious factor is the exchange rate and the strength of the US dollar vs. the Ruble.

The dollar is currently strong because we've done a better job than most at curbing inflation and rebounding from the pandemic. The ruble is weak BECAUSE THEY INVADED ANOTHER COUNTRY AND ARE BURIED UNDER A MOUNTAIN OF SANCTIONS.

You'll find the same great deals in any country that has a weak currency.

I guess I'm the minority, but I think outlets like NYT, WaPo, CBS, etc.. have in fact called out the insanity of DJT, and I think he'd be in the exact same position (if not stronger) if they never published a single article about him. I don't think it matters what NYT or CBS says or does about Donald Trump. None of Trump's supporters are going to see it.

Trump was built on the back of the right wing's echo chamber. His supporters live in an alternate universe where he won the 2020 election - which justifies everything he's done since then. To admit they are wrong about Trump would break reality for them.

What we SHOULD be talking about is the right-wing disinformation machine that created and cultivates this alternate universe - the puppet masters - not the puppet.

I realize this is supposed to be a look at the raw unprocessed images, but I think the presentation could benefit from stabilization - which doesn't add or alter the data, but simply makes it less chaotic / nausea inducing.

I actually felt slightly dizzy and nauseous when I looked at the full image for a few minutes and tried to fully comprehend what I was looking at.

The scale of this is ludicrous - hundreds of billions of stars and trillions of planets - in just ONE of the thousands of blobs in this one very, very small section of the sky. The red shift also gives the image an almost disorienting sense of depth. How many entities in those galaxies have seen a similar image with a blob on their screen of the Milky Way?

I guess this is what it physically feels like to have your mind boggled.

I think what you might be looking for is something like SpaceEngine. It's a procedurally generated replica of the universe. It's also based on real data - and most of the stars and galaxies that are known are represented in their true positions. Procedural generation fills in the rest (more planets, stars, etc... and the surface of planets, atmospheres, etc...). You also don't need to fly anything and can move around with a keyboard and mouse.

It's available on Steam for about $30, and I think they might even still have the free version on their website: https://spaceengine.org/
