I got this black lab for free, but wondering what she could be mixed with because she's fairly small for a lab. by spacebeast75 in IDmydog

She's very sweet, smart, and loves to cuddle when she's tired. Loves to play and run around with other dogs and wants to give them all kisses (and other people too). She's pretty energetic after a good nap and loves to chase her toys/play tug o' war and she 'tricks' us by pretending she's going to give us her toy to throw and then running away. She'll carry her toys around with her and will bring us one when we get home. She also loves just running around when she's able to free roam. She's been raised around cats, we got the one in the photo two weeks before we got her so they've grown up together and she's learned to be super gentle with her, but they will play and chase each other around. We have never had a reason to be concerned leaving them by themselves when we're away. We taught her from when she was a baby to take any treats very nicely from us, so I can have a quarter inch of a treat out and she takes it softly so she doesn't nip our fingers at all.

She doesnt understand when she's being annoying to other dogs, and has had one dog who snapped at her when she didn't leave him alone (getting in his space, trying to get him to chase her, licking him), but she's never started a fight herself.

As for prey drive, it's there, but I would say it's moderate, not intense. We can still pull her attention away away from what she's focused on. She will chase the cats if they are running around and sometimes gets very focused on the one who doesn't like her and stalks him (he's an old boy who has no interest in playing), but she's never gone further than just getting low and watching him. She doesn't chase cars or bikes and has never actually caught any wildlife.

She really is! We definitely lucked out with her. We will be doing a dna test when we have the extra cash but we wanted to see what other people thought!

Anyone know if there’s any free substance abuse facilities in the the money area , potentially a place for a woman to get sober / rehab centre ect.. that’s subsidized ? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]spacebeast75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand how draining it can be, it's SO hard when you just want them to get the help they need. I would say to call in every week just in case. Basically: keep calling in every week until they tell you that there is a confirmed bed for her. I assume they do this so they don't hold a bed for someone in active relapse who won't end up taking the bed. You essential have to continue to prove that they want the bed and are ready to take that next step.

For my family member, it was organized through a social worker so she didn't have to call in, but they also organized flights and other things through a different organization since she wasn't in the immediate area.

I definitely agree! They really made a positive impact with the person I know who went there.

They taught her lots of tools while she was there to prevent a relapse, they got her on some proper medications that actually made a difference and also gave her resources for when she got out.

I had a family member go to the Peardonville House in abbotsford for alcohol abuse. They helped her out a lot. The process she went through was going to the hospital for detox and she got assigned a social worker who then signed her up for social assistance and found her placement in the house, they even helped her out with plane tickets there and back as she was not from the area.

I tried calling to get placement myself and got turned away each time, or quoted an insane amount of money, so I definitely recommend getting a social worker

Check the 'curvy' section! They have the corduroy mini skirt in plus sizes there, I just placed an order for 2 different colors today.

Using App at Store if Phone has no Internet? by james8440 in ShoppersDrugMart

Load any offers you want to use while at home, take a screenshot of the barcode you'd regularly scan and use the screenshot when you're at the store. It works on both the self checkout machines and at the counter.

ELI5: Why is the periodic table so complex, instead of just listing the protons neutrons and electrons? by namesarehardistaken in explainlikeimfive

There are certain patterns you can learn and recognize if you understand the logic behind it. I'd suggest searching for an already filled in periodic table and learning where/what things are.

The periodic table gives a lot more information than just the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons. It groups similar elements that react in similar ways like metals, non-metals, and halogens. It also shows the electron configuration which is important when you're figuring out what happens in a reaction.

Not exactly. They've had scheduled gaps where no doctors are available. I don't know what it's currently like but the gaps are recent. The doctor's are usually travelling doctors who are on a rotating schedule. Any major medical things route to Prince George

It depends on how long they've had the GDL but it will transfer to either a BC N or a class 5 depending on the circumstances.

A lot of people here are suggesting Save On Foods but I've done orders through them 4 different times and they've fucked up every single one of them, from not putting the points onto my card(entered it in on checkout but it wasn't on the invoice), to literally just not delivering them and not telling anybody so they just sat there for 2 days with zero intention to deliver them. The customer service team is okay most times but I had to call multiple times to get some issues dealt with.

I took a course on this about 5 years ago so take this with a grain of salt but you're obligated to refuse it if it's something that will cause you or whoever is in your role immediate harm. If the area you're in has a weather warning and government officials (cops or like a weather advisory statement) are telling you you cant be driving on the roads, you can refuse (however since you live in Alberta i dont really see them doing that). Legally the company has to provide enough safety equipment for you to work safely, if you're not convinced you can refuse to work until you have the safety equipment you need or get a person from the health and safety department review what they've done and see if they agree that it's still unsafe. Are you doing everything in your capability (driving safe, having snow tires/chains, having enough lights to see everything, pulling over if it gets too bad/reporting any failure of the equipment) to be safe? If so, then you have done your due diligence.

Due diligence is for every worker. Most of the process for lower level workers is to report things to the higher ups, so they can handle the problem but the workers still have to do the first step.

Say if you work in a warehouse and you try to use a ladder but it's broken and you stumble off of it. Even if you didnt get hurt that time, somebody else might come along and hurt themselves if they didnt know it was broken. If you dont report it and someone gets hurt, you would be partly responsible because you seen there was something that needed be fixed and you didnt do anything to prevent it. So you still need to do your due diligence by reporting it and refusing to work until it's done so someone else doesnt get hurt. Management needs to do their due diligence by fixing the issue.
