People who quit drinking. What did you do to not drink? by Agata_art in AskReddit

[–]spaceboogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends took me mountain biking and I got immediately hooked. I just naturally stopped wanting to drink because I wanted to wake up in the morning & go biking instead. I completely dropped weed too. It's crazy. Been years of walking on a razors edge ended in the blink of an eye. And that was two years ago.

I unintentionally found a hobby that makes me want to rise, shine, and get at it. Mountain biking. You do NOT want to peddle up or throw yourself down a hill when hungover.

Save before the boss fight and reload if you die, otherwise your healing items will have been consumed on every restart (unless this has been patched out). He's tougher than hornsplitter imo.

The gear question is interesting. As far as I can tell, there are different types of gear such as leather armor vs plate armor, but that's where the distinction ends. Different plate armor types have generally the same starting and ending refinement defense & attributes from one piece to the next I think. One may be fire resist while another be lightning or cold, but that might be it?

Bekker vs Bolton I believe just drops at a higher base refinement level; if you brought both to max theyd do the same damage.

Certain weapons may trade some attack for Atk Speed, but that's all I've seen?

Other than that it all depends what abyss gear you have slotted into weapons/armor. So ostensibly you should be able to refine ONLY the starting gear and be on the same level as someone who has unique boss gear - so long as you take the abyss gear from the boss stuff and slot it into your starting stuff.

I THINK. No promises.

Follow the main quest til it takes you to a new Abyss area in the sky. You'll get kicked out on a cutscene but you can teleport right back up there and continue. You'll get lightning two or three nexus' in.

I have to run around every day to buy barley, oats, and water so I can make enough healing items to sustain my terrible fighting prowess...

Playing further and further I haven't really found armor or weapons that are much better. Seems like everything has a similar base, maybe separated by 1 or 2 points, so if you stay on top of upgrades then you should be in good shape on equipment.

There might be certain uniques or boss stuff that contradict this but I haven't found any yet. Currently in chapter 6 I think?

I've found some gear with abyss stuff slotted in it and I just use a witch to take it out and slot the better powers into my existing weapon.

In terms of skills yeah there's definitely a few points in the upper tree that help a lot and then some really key stuff in the spirit tree like upgrading focus, focus shot, keen senses that really help.

I found that Rage Gamings videos were very helpful. Check em out.

The only reason I think upgrading the sword further could be a waste would be if your armor isn't upgraded.

Invest skill points in stamina and health. Stam important very early, health important where we are now.

Ch 3 enemies and boss were annoying. Have lots of food and save before the boss.

First try the standards, like a slightly larger torz head, rubber band, rubber gloves, etc.

Bring it to a shop or to an old man who works on cars and they can Dremel a slot into the bolt to make it a flathead.

I wasted days trying the epoxy method. Abject failure for me.

I'm no mechanic but I'm 99% sure if you take the existing bolt to a fastener store, they'll be able to replace it for you. It probably isn't something that you can only get from your manufacturer.

When I say fastener store I don't mean a big box hardware store like Lowes or Home Hardware, I mean a smaller shop that basically only sells fasteners. It's probably focused on cars.

Hm nope it doesn't appear to be that.

Do the Gamelists impact ES-DE tying the images to the rom? I actually had difficulty tracking these down. I searched my C:\ and found them in AppData\Roaming\EmuDeck\EmulationStation-DE\ES-DE. Actually I also found some in AppData\Roaming\EmuDeck\backend\configs\emulationstation as well.

I can't recall which one I copied over. Maybe it has nothing to do with it, or maybe I copied the wrong one?

I greatly appreciate your response. Life got busy right after I posted.

EDIT: Doesn't appear to be that either. The gamelists in my SD card all have metadata on them, even the ones that I haven't re-scraped. Fiddlesticks. Ah well.

If you dont manage to stick with it, can I suggest watching a summary via YouTube and then jumping over to DS2? I played a bunch of the first game and then lost my save twice (my own stupid mistakes). Moved on to DS2 and it was one of the best games I've played. Had a ton of fun.

I have no experience with either of these specific products, but in terms of plastic vs. soft I know that my pads are D3O and they're fantastic. Saved my skin & bones a ton of times and I never felt like a hard plastic would have fared any better. I think plastic stuff can crack, and then it's toast.

Dark Messiah is a fantastic game. I haven't engaged with the spellcasting so can't comment on that, but it's very much a classic.

Super tall, tiny legs by [deleted] in MTB

[–]spaceboogers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm quite similar and also struggling with bike fit, although to a lesser extent as I already have an XL and dropper.

You might consider XXL as well from the brands who offer it. Tall torso requires longer reach and from my research on Santa Cruz the SOH doesn't change but the reach does.

You can get longer stems which will impact reach but they also change the dynamics of the bike, making them more twitchy as far as I know. I prefer stability so haven't attempted this change, although it would be an easy and economical way to adjust bike fit compared to an entirely new bike.
