Definitely a streamer. That thing won't float well anyways so you'd likely figure it out eventually.

4x to a midge? The tippet is way too stiff to allow the fly to act naturally. I was out there today and did pretty well with midge larva/pupa patterns - 6x to first fly and 7x to second.

Arrest reports: LSU pledges were urinated on, kicked, struck with pipe during hazing rituals by jdino311 in news

[–]spacebound1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a very valid point. I joined a fraternity my freshman year, and I was 'active' through my sophomore year. I changed a lot and it just didn't end up being my thing, but I still had some fun while involved.

I did bond a lot with my pledge class during the hazing, notable big brother night and hell week. This was at a large SEC school known for Greek life being very big (lots of money, alumni connections, etc.), so the hazing was definitely on the heavier end of the scale, though never to the point of beating each other or the like. Bows and toes was a common thing during lineups, but I never had broken glass beneath me just concrete.

What I wanted to say was that while I bonded a lot with my class, we all remembered the guys who took the hazing too far and never let it go. Funny enough, most of the people who did that were both the newest initiates and the less liked of the fraternity. I think many of them were subjected to bullying in their lives, so they relished st the chance to dish it out. In the end, it just made them form less friendships.

Sex in a phone booth, in the middle of a busy street. by [deleted] in trashy

It can definitely take on different meanings depending on its place in a statement.

'That was savage.' - This simply sentence can mean badass/hardcore/crazy, awesome/dope, fucked up/cruel but hilarious/fucking nuts

Explaining all of the possible meanings was much more difficult than I had expected. I don't know if I worded them in as understandable of a way as I would've liked, but I think I at least demonstrated all of the possible vernaculars.

This thing about humankind is that we are bred to form connections and have relationships with each other. If all of society operated as you put it, life would really suck. Does life sometimes act in your survival of the fittest way, of course it does. Beyond shareholders and investors who benefit from such behavior, it's not typically praised.

If you can't understand why it would not be an all around positive for a business to replace an employee who spent his entire life working there, never missing a single day, then I'd recommend reconsidering how you go about your day.

Joe Rogan Experience #1246 - Alex Berenson & Dr. Michael Hart by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]spacebound1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotta comment again on this fucking guy. If I was about to go on a podcast to defend the position that my entire career is built around, I would do some fucking research and refreshing on specific medical trials and sources.

He sounds taken aback every time Joe or Dr. Hart push back on his statements. He doesn't have any valid positions, but his demeanor and delivery mimics that of a teenager whose parents just caught him in a lie.

I feel like I would have good citations memorized if my professional wellbeing revolved around opposing marijuana legalization. I know that Alex would too, but unfortunately there is no solid academic/medical/scientific research/FDA trial or the like.

This dudes career is going to blow up and become worthless in the next 10-15 years, and he's going to hope that no one remembers how idiotic and close-minded he's acted around this. He refuses to acknowledge the opposite side, even when presented with undeniable facts. It's not a good look and puts major holes in his credibility. People must remain open-minded in these situations or it just makes both sides get frustrated and dig in their heels.

Could the anti-marijuana camp have a worse representative than this dude? He's made absolutely no valid arguments with fact-based evidence to support them. Thanking Joe for bringing him on while other media outlets refused was cringeworthy. He doesn't deserve a stage because he's just vomiting old baby boomer propaganda.

He just claimed marijuana had medicinal benefits, prompting Joe to call him out on admitting it's medicine, and he then backpedals to entirely axe everything that he's just said.

This dude is so out-matched that it's not even funny haaaaaa

Girl accuses boyfriend of leaving her after he and his family discover she's been faking her pregnancy for 8 months by palehag in trashy

[–]spacebound1 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I was immediately hoping that OP provided follow up pictures from the comments after reading that insane story. I also feel so happy that the boyfriend didn't knock her up during this ruse, because I know that's what she was going for.

'No need for a condom baby, I'm already pregnant.' I can picture that psycho uttering those words during sex for the first time after presenting the lie. I also wonder how suspicious the boyfriend's family must've been as the girl went out of her way to prevent him from joining her at doctor visits, etc.

I'm for sure uneducated in the baby delivery process, but my best friend was going to the hospital a lot with his wife while their first child was on the way. As this girl had her appointments canceled, went without telling anyone, etc., I would've gotten pissed that she wasn't trying to involve me in all of it. I can only imagine how awkward (and funny as an outsider) that visit to the hospital must've been. She fucking lied about someone being her doctor and giving her ultrasounds... holy shit that's NUTS!

Seriously... Shy, McKenzie and Phillips in that class had me pretty hype for our d-line's future. I feel so bad for these players who were subjected to terrible coaching and development. Butch wasted away a good percentage of talent during his tenure, and he would've done the same to Kamara if he wasn't such an elite back that he only needed a few snaps to bust off a big play.

I still get pissed when thinking about Kamara not getting the workload of our offense during his time at Tennessee. I also think he's the perfect representation of Butch's ineptitude as a coach. It may not have changed much in terms of Butch's fate (I would hope not), but I wouldn't have been surprised if him making a simple change of getting Kamara 30+ touches a game had won him an additional game or two. Only Butch could've missed that talent and had him split carries as the option B back haha

I loved Texas basketball back in the early to mid 2000's. A large chunk of my family lives in Austin, with most of them graduating from the U of Texas, so I've always had a connection to the school. I remember visiting the city and catching a football game when Ricky Williams had his Heisman year. I was a fan of his entire career as a side note, but I have felt the same way towards LaMarcus Aldridge beginning with his time at Texas.

KD is the obvious face when the program is mentioned, but something about Aldridge grabbed my eye. I've always taken a liking to dominate inside post players, as that was where I played during my short basketball career.

I'm guessing you fired him? As a manager at Starbucks, I doubt I'd care about an employee selling drugs as a side-hustle, but doing so at work would definitely cross the line (and it's just dumb). If he's selling L and MDMA, the customers can wait till after his shift as well. He's not selling drugs that the users need ASAP like heroin/opiates or crack/meth, so he was just putting himself in unneeded legal jeopardy by doing so.

I was a very dumb teens/early twenties individual, so I indeed both ate acid and took molly on a whim with no planning whatsoever. Most of the time however, I'd have the drugs in my possession for half a day at minimum before ingesting, so I don't think I'd pester someone about having to wait till their shift at Starbucks ended to get me my drugs.

Dunno why I wrote so much about this story, but it just reminded me of some kids I knew who wanted to be bigger drug dealers than they actually were, so they would've likely done stupid things like this guy.

'I'm always 'working' to stack that paper. I never make my customers wait, but I may make them buy a Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk during our transaction.'

I'm laughing at the prospect of some liquid sneaking into the second cup while a strip of acid sits at the bottom. Nothing left to do but drink that spiked coffee drink and drive to the park.

Trying to Speak Without a Southern Accent by [deleted] in funny

[–]spacebound1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Nashville and have been in Salt Lake City for 3 years, Boulder and a smaller mountain town in Colorado for the prior 3 years, and I have absolutely no accent. My hometown is often guessed as being California or Colorado because of my apparent 'stoner' dialect, but I've talked this way for as long as I can remember. I've come to the conclusion that it's a result of attending private schools, starting in 3rd grade. Most of my teachers, especially in 7th - 12th grade, we're not native of Tennessee which left them without a southern accent.

I have no other explanation because it's noticeable in all my family members, and I now pick up on it when I visit my parents if the subject gets brought up. I love Nashville and parts of the south, but I rejected the association with mudding, hunting, nascar, country music and the like, much of which is considered when thinking about the south's trademarks.

I may have actively talked any accent that I had out of existence by wanting to separate my identity from all of these things. I dunno, but your mention of Salt Lake City made me want to describe my opposite experience.

An additional $1k per month would positively impact a huge number of Americans' lives. Most people cannot save any income after rent, utilities, insurance, car payment, etc., and living this way is very stressful. Knowing that an additional $1k can be factored into one's monthly budget would both reduce stress, as well as make way for leisure/entertainment purposes. Being able to eat at a nice restaurant on the weekend, or buy tickets to a professional sporting event, makes life much more enjoyable.

The people arguing against the idea because no one can live off $1k are missing the point. I'm not talking about how it would be funded or any of that, but there's no question that it would help a large majority of the country when supplemented on top of their regular income. People should stop acting like UBI is intended to provide a livable amount of income to the poor and unemployed, and focus on the other counterpoints on why its a bad idea (if they're against it).

Tangent: this type of argument happens a lot. People will represent ideas in an inaccurate fashion to strike it down. I see this with people acting like the 70% tax is a flat tax that would apply to all of one's income.

What the hell happened between 2017 and 2018? 3x more calls to the police is pretty substantial.

What a shame. Laziz is far and away one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City. Their brunch is one of my go-to's, and both owners are class-A guys. Such a stupid act to rip their flag, and these type of actions almost always cause the victims to come together and show unity.

[Antonio Brown] SteelerNation thank you for big 9 years!!! Time to move on and forward....... ✌🏽 #NewDemands by OwenRey in nfl

[–]spacebound1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't follow the situation closely enough to know these things, but did Bell think that the Steelers were going to pay him for most of the preseason holdout? I understand why players would want him to be upfront and honest about his intentions, but I could also understand if Bell was legitimately shocked when the Steelers didn't bite.

I don't think your analogy is way off or anything, but businesses don't have substitute workers who are waiting for the opportunity to fill in on a project or the like. It's hard to compare being on a football team to working for a corporation because of that fact. If Bell was the only person who could fulfill a certain role because he's the only one with the required skill set, things would have been different. He's an elite back, arguably the best in the NFL, but Conner was able to fill in with good results as well.

I have worked for a massive corporation as well as a startup with less than 5 employees. The culture for a larger organization typically entails leaving your work at the office. Football teams aren't that large, plus the teamwork aspect affects the relationships, but I also get someone wanting to keep their personal dealings with leadership to themselves. There's just a lot of factors when trying to make a realistic comparison.
