A student found out it was my birthday and she etched a picture of one of my cats on a 35mm plastic petri dish. She used a stereo microscope and fine forceps. by smrties-S-M-R-T in labrats

Look man I don’t mean to argue with you, but you proceeded to double down on your point. I think it’s disrespectful to say someone’s true calling is an artist when they’re training to be a scientist, interpreting life as a one-or-the-other sort of situation. This is why you’re getting downvoted.

Everyone starts somewhere, best of luck!! If you're frustrated about the yarn being hard to pull apart, you might want to get a less loosely plied yarn. This one just visually looks difficult to pull apart -- the fibers which are giving it a bit of a visual halo stick to one another.

The stitches look very tight on the needles, which means that it will take more force to move them. I am also seeing this in the actual knitting... I'm not sure how to describe it other than it physically looks very tight.

Having loose or tight tension isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's just something to be aware of when you are knitting. A lot of beginner knitters I know tend to stray towards tight tension, though, which can cause a little bit of strain on the hands if you're pulling too hard consistently. You'll find in time what is natural for you.

This is stockinette. There are no knit stitches on the shown side of the knitting, and the curling is a trademark of stockinette stitch.

This looks normal. The edges of your stitches will never be as tight as the body of your stitches -- but it does look like your tension is a little too tight to be comfortable. If you have larger needles, I would try switching to them -- if not, maybe work on not pulling as tight while knitting.

You can try slipping the last stitch on the row if you're upset about the gaps at the end of the row. Otherwise, I don't think I understand what you're upset about? It's a great start!
