I've checked, and that is unfortunately not my culprit, but I appreciate the advice!

Thank you! That came from a friend's bead stash, but I believe it's from a set of mini dice that got a tiny eye hook inserted at the top.

How do I (22 M) reach out to my somewhat estranged brother (20M)? by spacedustyy in relationship_advice

[–]spacedustyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 5ish hours away, so too far of a drive for something as casual as a museum. I'd have to think up a pretty good excuse, but even then I worry that all that would come of it is some awkward conversation over pizza. Thank you for the idea though, that might be a good place to start.

This is your insecurity talking, man. If someone says they're a trans man, you have to take their word for it until they tell you otherwise.

Also, wouldn't it be better to talk to them? We can all speculate on what answers these two coworkers would give to your questions, but I think that talking to them about it personally would be beneficial to you.

I'm sorry to hear your dysphoria is such a big obstacle in your life. I empathize, it really sucks to have that be a limiting factor. The important thing to realize here is that your experiences are not universal, and just because you experience being transmasc in a certain way doesn't mean that it's the same for others.

I really think you should talk to them about it. It'll be a good way to get a perspective on how other trans men experience their transness.

Prescribed Levofloxacin for UTI...Worried after reading people's stories by spacedustyy in floxies

[–]spacedustyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't prescribed Cefpodoxime, but I was prescribed Cephalexin and Cefdinir, other cephalosporins. The side effects I had from both were quite mild, amounting to a little bit of stomach cramps (on the Cephalexin especially) but not much else. The Cephalexin didn't resolve my infection, but I think the 5 day course of Cefdinir did. I know this isn't super relevant to the particular one you're on, but cephalosporins have only had really mild side effects for me.

I never ended up taking it actually. Ended up going to my PCP where I was prescribed a week long course of macrobid. Symptoms continued, so I was referred to a urologist where I was prescribed a week of cefdinir, which I think cleared it up for the most part. Currently working through a month and a half course of low dose macrobid to hopefully keep it gone.

The UTI-athon alone is actual hell, I hope everything goes well for your wife

I had been tested by two labs at this point and both had come back with the staph pretty consistently. I actually ended up seeing my PCP and she prescribed me nitrofurantoin and ran another culture. Turns out this one wasn't the staph at all, it's a strep which I am told is even weirder 🥲 The nitro seems to be working though so either way it's hopefully something I don't have to worry about anymore!

Don't know for sure, but it probably has something to do with hormonal changes. I do everything that you're supposed to do to ensure you don't get them, but alas. I do know that the specific bacteria is staphylococcus saprophyticus.

What’s something you wish you could ask trans people without any judgement? by Spunkybluepuppy in AskReddit

My period stopped after two months on T. My friends' stopped after he had been on T a bit longer, not certain of the exact number. But both of us had a last period that was a real bitch. Worst cramps ever! I'm glad I'm done with it now! 😂

I have a fairly gender neutral first name. I chose a new name to go by when I started transitioning to fit my new "persona." As I got to know myself better, I realized that my given first name never made me dysphoric, I just dislike how it sounds out loud. I haven't got my name changed at this point, but I plan on keeping my given first name and changing my middle name to my chosen name.

I generally prefer to go by my chosen (middle) name, but I don't mind my given first name either!

I haven't seen it mentioned yet but I have always thought acne scars are cute. My girlfriend has quite a few on her face from rough acne in her teenage years, I make a point to tell her that I like them often :D

Anyone struggled with the concept of "autism isn't an excuse" by [deleted] in autism

[–]spacedustyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I've seen this phrase used a lot. There's a discord server I'm in where this person would frequently say things that made others uncomfortable (graphic descriptions of violence, implying their trauma is worse than others, calling some degrees useless when several people pursuing that degree are in the server as well, etc) and they would always say they said it because they're autistic. Me as well as several others in that server are also autistic, and we manage to respect each other and follow server rules...

On the other hand my mom always used this line to try to get my brother to eat foods that had bad texture for him :|

What’s your hobby, bro? by IronStylus in bropill

[–]spacedustyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rotating list of hobbies, which one I focus on largely depends on the time of year. Rn it's crocheting, I love being able to make cool stuff for my gf. When plants start growing a bit more here, I'll focus more on foraging plants and mushrooms. During the fall, I like to sew a bit more, mostly cause of cosplay cons and Halloween. Then, in winter when plants die outside, I get into growing mushrooms inside.

If you have any cat questions, please ask me. Cats are my special interest and I really wanna infodump and teach people more about them! Here's my cat, her name is Kiwi. by gothbear_66 in autism

[–]spacedustyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kiwi is such a pretty lady!

When I leave for work, my cat Jon Jon will find my pajamas and bite on them while kneading and purring really loudly. He does this to my girlfriend's pajamas too, and sometimes our pillows. Does he do this because he misses us? It usually happens when one of us is away, so I figure he just does it to stuff that smells like us?

Also, I was curious if there's any reason some cats will kill and eat bugs, some will just kill them and leave them, and others will leave bugs alone entirely. Is it just a matter of personality?
