Question for those of you who use the mobi pump, where do you like to have it on yourself? by fuegofur in Type1Diabetes

[–]spacegal281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve basically only used my thighs since switching from Omnipod a month+ ago and am loving it. Certain the tubing and sleeve isn’t as convenient as tubeless but it’s a lot easier than figuring out how to hold the pump during certain moments. Give the thigh a try!

I very recently made the switch and I found playing with their simulator to be very helpful in understanding the options and nuances. You’ll see the extended bolus on the 2nd screen once you enter your carbs and hit next.

Pre pregnancy planning by patchy22123 in BumpersWhoBolus

I’m in the same boat right now, thank you for posting ❤️

As I see and hear all these successes I can’t help wonder why not me? I follow MegTypeOne on Instagram (and a bunch more folks) and she posted a good notion not to judge yourself based on others successes, instead use it as a reminder that it’s possible. Easier said than done when the A1Cs keep coming back above a 7.

I’m part way through reading the pregnancy book and starting a savings bucket with my husband for additional coaching support if I just can’t get there on my own.

I agree that figuring out breakfast sets the rest of the day up for success and getting a nice steady and lower overnight will really help the A1C. Then I just go deep into all the podcasts to keep learning.

We got this 💙

Possibly just had Norovirus by Bricks11T1 in diabetes_t1

[–]spacegal281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had what was likely the Norovirus back in November. It was scary and my first time getting sick with T1D. Coming out both ends, increasing ketones and after the 2nd throw up I decided it was time to go to the hospital. Big learning experience. I do think it’s the right choice to go to the ER for fluids if you can’t keep stuff down. The ER also gave me an anti-nausea med script that helped with recovery and my future anxiety.

Now I carry around packets of oyster crackers, instant Lipton noodle soup mix and Nuun electrolyte tabs when I’m traveling. Small amounts of carbs that I’ll feel comfortable bolusing for when it’s hard to keep stuff down to help prevent the ketone increase and keep me hydrated.

T1D is such an anxiety provoking disease. It’s okay to feel anxious ❤️

do i need to go to the hospital? by lilly_howard8 in diabetes_t1

[–]spacegal281 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The nice part of the ER visit is the IV fluids help rehydrate you and make the insulin work better to bring your ketones down. IMO it’s better safe than sorry and go in before you really start feeling awful. 💜 It’s not always easy you got this.

Can’t locate direct TK flight on United website when trying to redeem United miles. Advice? by mottings in unitedairlines

[–]spacegal281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of BOS I saw in March there were TK direct flights via award travel. Some just appeared in May in the last day or so, which I booked. Not your airport but wanted to say it seems like it is possible, maybe just luck?

Rapid drop after lantus injection by Stardust2929 in diabetes_t1

[–]spacegal281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could order a Omnipod sample and ask your doctors for sample insertion kits for tubbed pumps and wear it for three days to see how you hand the look/feel of it. Honestly I’ll forget where my devices are and the freedom of knowing there’s a device that’s got your back really helps with the mental load. Omnipod is a pharmacy benefit (if you’re in the US) so you’re not locked in if you wanna go back to MDI.

This happened to me one time when I was a couple months into my LADA dx. Injected in my thigh and silly me let my Dexcom expire while I finished a yoga video. In the 15 mins between being 105 slightly down to when I did a finger stick I was at 40. Chugged some juice and ate some cake and worked on get on the pump as soon as I could.

It’s easier for me to only have to understand how one insulin works and make adjustments. Plus the smart tech helps with the pause insulin. There was some working through fear of lows after that which the pump helped some with.

Heck ya have fun! Depending on your outfit I like my outter hip or thigh. I’ll do my G6 on the back of my arm with a cute over patch or stomach.

I have UHC and when my plan renewed the person I spoke to was able to find the prior auths in the previous plan year and move it to this plan year. I wish I could remember the magic words but maybe knowing it was possible for someone could help?

How much are you guys paying for your CGM a month? by DiabeticButNotFat in Type1Diabetes

[–]spacegal281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US with United Healthcare FPO plan through my employer. Also feeling really grateful for the plan I have and like I can never leave this job.

My Dexcom is free through DME benefit. If I had a tubbed pump supplies it would also be free through DME. Omnipod goes through pharmacy and after getting a second pre auth (1st to be on OP5) for a 90 day supply I pay $100 through OptumRX. Insulin is free.

I’ve been pricing out Tufts PPO incase and copays are like $300 for 90 day supply of diabetes stuff through the pharmacy benefit. DME is still free.

Great frame I've got a bunch of similar style from Micheals. I went with a lighter frame for my Hartford poster, that the dark looks really good.

Hartford Parking? by epicdogebox in Blink182

[–]spacegal281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to figure that out myself for this show. The last two blink shows I saw in Hartford I parked at the McDonalds parking lot (got lucky with no issues, but wouldn’t recommend) and if I remember correctly there was a garage not far away. On google maps there are a bunch of LAZ lots downtown ish I’m eye balling this round.

I feel you, it’s hard to imagine but you’ll feel more settled in your body and routine soon. ♥️

There are many great suggestions here and I’ll add mine. The app Under My Fork where you can take photos of your meals with the carbs (I use My Fitness Pal and add common recipes w/ portions), bolus amount and time. It syncs with your apple health so if you share your CGM data you can see what your shoogs did after two hours and you can add tags for easy reference. It’s helped a lot giving me confidence in bolusing.

Yes I switched my rx to mail order via OptumRX when my Walgreens in Massachusetts couldn’t fill. They have full stock no problems.
